I love the song, Alice Faye's voice and the other singers too. Plus that John Payne was adorable.

The voice of lady on the ladder is incredible. At first, I thought she was whistling.

If anyone is curious, this song is on Apple Music. The audio has been remastered and it is clear.

Look how far our country has fallen.
If times are so much better now then why is everyone less happy?

The song is great, but I wish that somethings were different.
First, the lady with that exquisite voice, isn’t really necessary and doesn’t fit in with the rest. In my opinion, it’s too much. As much as it sounds well and how talented that lady was, her voice and this song don’t match up.
Second, the Telly Savalas looking guy with the concertina playing beside The Brian Sisters, isn’t necessary either. It didn’t sound right with their singing or the other instruments.
Finally, since this song was sung in 1940 (WW2), I’m sure the boys overseas sang it too. It would’ve been nice if Alice Faye recorded a version with her singing accompanied by a regiment of the US Army singing in the background, like when Dame Vera Lynn recorded “We’ll Meet Again” with a British Army regiment in 1953. Lynn’s original version wasn’t the best and I’m glad she re-recorded one of her biggest hits (and also one of the most popular songs of WW2).
However, it’s still a nice sounding song, even with the things I find unnecessary. Again, this is my opinion. Some of you may agree with me and others may think otherwise. That is fine, I thought that I give my two cents on this 82 year old song/movie (comment written April 3, 2022).

As I understand it, actors were not permitted to record songs they sang in films. It's a shame too as "You'll Never Know " forever became associated with Alice Faye
