All of us who grew up in the 60s are the luckiest people on the planet. To have grown up listening to gems like this one, is a true blessing.
So true
You got it. My friend!
Your so right on. I grew up as a teen in the 60s
Not so lucky if you had to go to Vietnam.
@@marcschneider4845 it was the best of times and my best. You had to be there to enjoy all the fun
The real blessing is that we grew up in the 60’s and we are still here enjoying the music!
Boomer here….you’re so right! I’m truly blessed.
Ya damned right, baby.
..hear hear!
77 and still looking down at the grass.
Turning 30 this year and all I can say is I envy you folks.
Beautiful voices, no screaming, no garish costumes, no creepy makeup, just very nice normal people with beautiful voices and great stories to tell with the lyrics, Lord I miss those days.
I went to school in the 70s with kids who swore by KISS. I had NO use for them.
Re: "just very nice normal people." Back then TV and radio producers and censors vetted potential performers to be sure they were normal. All that's gone.
Now the performers are vetted to ensure they are as far from normal as one getsgets!
Born FEB 1950. I miss those days because they made sense. Today, nothing does: values, priorities, nothing. - David Lyga
Never to return.
I'm 71 years old. We didn't have a pot to pee in we were so poor. But those days were the best I ever lived.
Hi Donna

where did you go?
Absolutely!!
I like how we can hear every word, no gimmicks no flashing lights, just pure singing.
Hate the flashing lights.

And no nudity, just talent.

@@paulvon2378 Of course, that's how they did TV back then. Even Elvis lip synced back then.
I'm 71 and would sure like to go back to that sun shine so long ago.
I’m seventy and I wouldn’t want to go back. I don’t want to go back to being told even though you paid your taxes your children have to go to segregated schools using subpar books and supplies and this is the humiliation, your children have to walk to school even though your taxes paid for the school bus, new books and schools your children were denied from using. I don’t want to go back, I want to move forward.
Me too
Sure, as long as I can go back with a ‘60 Chevy convertible with factory air.
@@gingercake0907 Yeah, unlike today where kids go to schools with armed security guards...have to pass thru medal dectors, teachers get sucker punched...learning has been dumbed down to what was 5th grade level in the 60s. The children of today ( 2022 ) have no idea what they missed - drive-inns - running around outside until it was dark ( no danger ) and most of all amazing music - life was wonderful ( 1944 )
@peetermuna4178: "children have no idea what they missed." Not true. All these who died and were reborn are showing themselves through "Karma" when they lived in those times. Most of this is "past life nostalgia".
Including you. Some of my Karma memories of music go back to just before 1900 when...
"I wish I was an apple on a tree, Wish I was an apple on a tree. If I was an apple on a tree, you'd come along and take a bite out of me."
I miss those days.
A large part of the word was living in terror in 1944.
"life was wonderful ( 1944 )" - you must be demented.

@@tabascocat5102 I agree, I hate it to !!
You got that right.
Just as we have a lot of ingrate punks attending college who think they have all the answers and we're a bunch of racist bumpkins, they think their "music" is legit, when we who had the privilege of growing up in the 60s and 70s know better. The proliferation of talent in those years was breathtaking and the messages they sent were cogent and spoke to a generation. Since music today is all pirated the only way performers can stay relevant is to go on tour and let autotune handle the voices and instruments and what comes out is rap -- with violent, misogynistic, gang-banger lyrics that don't speak of love, don't speak of peace, don't speak of aspiring to something better -- just criminality and treating other humans like a piece of meat. Small wonder we're circling the drain.

I was a musician in the 60s and sometimes our circles touched. The most lasting impression of Gale Zoë Garnett was her stunning intelligence. She had an absolutely brilliant mind. After music she went on to act (stage, TV, film) and became an author of plays, books and articles covering a wide range of topics. It was a privilege to have met her. This is one of the fundamental songs on my playlist.
She has a contralto voice?

I actually loved some of it. But it can’t jardinaiire📍touch the Special Spots like the 20’s and 30’s depression Erasmus the way you touch The Heartstrings forget your Dentures?
Correct
And real people to sing them.
I so agree! What has happened to our world?
Unfortunately THIS current generation has chosen instead to listen to a bunch of Marxist college professors shovel crap into their young skulls of mush by the bushel; and they eat it up like it was written on stone tablets. I remember a generation whose youth was just as arrogant -- the Baby Boomers who came into the world right after WWII and entered college 18 years later -- in the 1960s.
Here's the difference -- back then you had SOME politicians who genuinely put country first and party second, and eventually the cream would rise to the top. Our current crop of politicians are bereft of integrity and know less about the constitution they swore an oath to defend than I do, because public schools stopped teaching civics as a stand-alone curriculum over 50 years ago. The combination of gullible students and two corrupt political parties rife with politicians who think they're our _rulers,_ not _servants,_ has us tetering on the precipice.
I'd love nothing more than to subject Gen-Z to 10,000 hours of listening to 60s and 70s music and see if they don't come out of it feeling like perhaps they're not as woke as they think they are. Can't do much about the current crop of politicians if We The People aren't going to do _our_ job and elect competent people to office. No amount of 60s music gonna fix _that._
Even during Vietnam and the Cold War, life was still easy and relaxed for the average kid. Just go outside after school and play games with all the neighbor kids. Just lay in a field and look at the clouds roll by. People were cool and happy. I miss it.
White people did not have FORCED integration....racistsBlac...roaming their streets. Civil Rights Act 1964 destroyed America.
Yes life was great for some of us. If you were lucky don’t you owe it to those who fought in the war and those who were oppressed to do something to achieve the type of happy world we had?

You. Got that right
I remember my mom singing this to me as a little kid.... 💕
I met a young lady, Darla Edwards at Lake Wakandau while going to college in Canton, Missouri in 1964. This song reminds me of her. I will never forget her. Fresh out of high school and lost my high school ring in that lake. We wrote each other for awhile after that summer. Fond memories.
She has a wonderful voice.
The song never gets old!
What an amazing time to be a teenager !

So lucky to be born in 1955 and listen to awesome music for decades. I took all the music for granted then but now I treasure and cherish these songs.
