God Bless America and God bless Kate Smith!!!! ♥️
This is Kate’s song. Nobody else does it justice like Kate. 🇺🇸
Been a lot of versions over the years, but none like the original.
No one, indeed.
No body can sing GOD BLESS AMERICA like Kate Smith can She's an ICON.
All versions that I know of are all compared to hers.
Amen to that!!❤
I'm in my late 60s, and sang this when was in church and the school choir all thru grade school, high school and college, and I gotta admit that I never heard the opening lines of the song till now. I'm gobsmacked! Once again I think, with a voice like that no wonder she was my grandfather's favorite singer😊

America needs this song and it's meaning now more than ever 💖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This song can't save us. We kicked God and His divine protection out of our lives.
Back when American Patriotism wasn't considered wrong, or Love of Country wasn't considered immoral, Americans sang this song.

@@adelehldwy7910This poster is one of the problems with the current society. They responded to an observation that many today consider patriotism akin to racism, and adds to the modern sentiment. Methinks that ti's poster should just listen to this song several more times to completely understand its meaning.
Wish our country was as thankful today for the freedom our military has helped us keep over the years since WWII.
The military should have more influence in civilian matters it would help society today
@@devildog2378That would be called Martial Law...Cuba, Middle East and China ALL have a military in civilian life!
@@devildog2378 Thats how you create a country with a fragile government easily overthrown for the next dictator. The military should continue to have zero authority on native land.
The ironic part is that our military has done nothing for American freedom since WW2. Fighting proxy wars across the globe against ideas, not even real enemies. What a joke.
@@devildog2378 NO! Our military fought to keep those who want to rule through authority rather than democracy from gaining power over governments in Europe and out of our country as well. This is its Constitutional role and we must be thankful every day that it is understood by them.
I'm Canadian. A military veteran. I have loved America and Americans ever since I can remember. I pray for America every day. O to God that He would come back to our nations again. Something terrible has happened and only God can right it. America bless God! Canada bless God!. If enough of us pray, He will come back.
amen, brother!
As an American, thank you! Praying for Canada too! ❤🍁
What a loving neighbor you are and thank you for your prayers we sure need it today for both countries United States and Canada
Yes...something terrible has been growing quietly and unknown in the shadows for sixty years now. Red, murderous, mindless Marxism has made its bid to destroy the western world. People, our own citizens and foreign influencers who have been disguised as mild mannered well meaning socialists; just to the left of center, have made their grasp for power. Covid was an intentional attack, millions of American people have died. Murderous unruly mobs, the paid agents of our enemies stalk the land and thousands of businesses have been burnt but very little gets into the media because the network of traitors is vast. The next 10 to 15 years will decide....be strong people..
Thank you for what you said !!! You are right only God can save us ❤
They should play this to all politicians- let them remember what America used to be, and let’s not forget schools.
Special song. Special Kate, special time
No one can do justice to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" like Kate Smith.
We have sent all of our children off to war. The ravaged children came home with scars that can never heal. GOD bless our veterans! Amen
God, family, country. They were paramount during the war. Today they are a faded memory. The greatest generation ever. One we will never see again. Truly sad. I pray God's mercy and cry each time Kate Smith sings this song. Ah the good ole days. Gone but not forgotten. GOD BLESS AMERICA! She needs it now more than ever!!
When "the greatest generation" came home from war, they no longer had time for church and God. Hippies came from them and people have progressively left God out and gotten worse. Until they come back, there is no hope for help.
What happens when you leave GOD out!
I am only 10 years old and I love old patriotic music
Then the is hope for America with young people like you
Good lad
Hopefully , we have a young man like ur self as president , if anyone of this generation was to run , always remember your Roots and what made u love listening too old patriotic music

This makes me so happy! It always warms my heart when younger generations hear the golden oldies and love them!
Kate knocks it out of the park!!! We, ALL of us, need to come together to save this nation as Kate so aptly and poignantly points our minds and hearts to. I say to ALL us ITS NOT TOO LATE! LETS GET TOGETHER WITH G.O.D AS OUR LEADER!!!
This is the best version of this song still stands the test of time even 80 years later. Well done

A true American icon. Rest in peace Ms. Smith
The British had Vera Lynn, and the Americans had Kate Smith. Two wonderful singers and morale boosters!
1943: Kate had originally recorded this for Victor in 1939. Irving Berlin retooled it for the movie and the Warner studio orchestra and chorus backed her so well. America and the Allies needed this after taking a shellacking in the first year of the war. But the tide was about to turn, and morale-boosters like this one helped the Allies to eventual victory.

Fun fact: the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team actually had Kate Smith sing God Bless America at some of the most important games in the season for a few years. The reason they did this was because almost every time that she sang, they won so they considered her singing a good luck charm. They even had her sing in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1974 and 1975, both of which the Flyers would win
The Broad Street Bullies. Sixth grade, most of us cut school to go to the celebration on Broad Street. Such fun memories.
And the Flyers ended up "honoring" her memory by removing the statue dedicated to her.
So bad they took her statue down. Screw the flyers
The statue was taken down by different team owners (Comcast/NBC). I'm glad I experienced the best of times and have the happy memories of the '74 team.
Should be The National Athem
The brilliant Kate Smith.
This is not so much a look back but a tug at the heart of what was true then is just as true today.
I was 5yrs old, my father was overseas and i remember her singing this on the radio - I never forgot it when I hear it , I always remember That little boy
I got goosebumps. I was born in 1997 and miss when loving your country wasn’t a crime.
