    The battle hymn of the republic still brings tears to my eyes after 77 years. I remember sing this song in grade school and It brought tears to my eyes then. There are a small group of people in this wonderful country who hate this country, and want to tear it down. But you don't see these same people leaving and going else where. If this country is so bad how come there are millions of people wanting to come here to become American citizens. My advice to those who say they hate my country, I say to you shut up sit down become a better citizen, or get the hell out of my country.

    I'm an Australian and this moves me. What have we lost over the years? There is nothing like this now. No love for country, no love for who we are. Just division, hatred for who we are. Western society hates itself and is no longer proud of what it once achieved. It believes that in order to be stronger it must dilute what makes it great. We must now be ashamed of our roots, and hate ourselves and all that we've achieved. Our enemies don't think like that. They are proud of what they've achieved. They don't hate themselves. They hate us. People who have dragged this world into the modern era, through science and thought, unfettered by ideology or religious extremism. Yet these are the countries that hate us most and try their utmost to destroy us. And when they say we are unfair and racist and every sort of "phobic" we are expected to feel embarrassed and guilty. But they don't want to go back to the countries they came from because if they say those things there they could indeed risk their lives. Quite the conundrum, wouldn't you say? We give them the freedom to destroy us from within. The freedom they never had in the country they came from in most instances. And if they are native-born and hold these views, they are useful idiots who will never realise how they have been used. This needs to stop. Be proud of who we are. Stand up, stop being silent. Our silence allows our destruction.

    • @mfsebcw
      @mfsebcw Před 7 dny +2

      part of freedom is the freedom to point out where the shining beacon on the hill is lacking. i love my country for certain, or more accurately i love my fellow countrymen. the country is merely an apparatus for improving the lives of the humans that live here. when it fails to live up to that standard, it is well within my rights to point that out. the first amendment says that i may peacefully petition the government for redress of wrongs.
      what western culture has achieved it has achieved through a mixed bag. we wouldn't have modern dentistry without certain people experimenting on those they considered lesser humans.
      you can hate the vile actions even if the consequence was something grand. NASA wouldn't exist without project paperclip. without the war crime of using the atom bomb, japan might have fought to the last remaining man and woman.
      as for enemies, how well do you know those places? when america invaded afghanistan, it didn't take long to develop local operatives willing to fight against their country's rulers. that says they hated what their country was, and wanted to change it.
      when a person is being racist or phobic, yes, you should feel bad. why does it surprise you that predetermined bigotry is not a valid way of judging a human?
      immigrants are more law abiding than natives. studies show this. immigration does not destroy, it creates.
      i am proud of who I am, my own choices, my own life. why take pride in the accident of where i was born? we are all human.

    Mr. Welles, there are apps now which can construct one’s appearance from youth to old age, i.e., show you what you will look like when you are old, and the reverse, i.e., what you looked like when you were young from you as an old person. It’s worth a try.

    I'm in my twenties but have never heard of this man, but what a wonderful story and a truly inspirering tale. Makes me ask why our good God allowed this world to become so drained of messages as these.

    Wow Mr. Waddell, that was beautifully written and well said. I can almost hear Orson speaking that, and I mean that with the most respect sir. As an artist and song writer, the moment I started reading your comment I was glued and thought I would love to build on your thoughts through song writing. Would you have any objection?
