Is nobody taking in account that Snow White is also an abuse victim? Like- just like Cinderella she is as strong as she is being gentle and positive while living without both her parents and being deprived of a proper life. That for me is also a real sign of strenght. Snow White literally captivates people around her, so much she got where she got by being kind. With the dwarves even, befriending them and forming a genuine bond while also helping them a way she knew. Prince just got there at the end of the film. Let the poor baby be strong in her own way!

Rachel doesn't have to like the original story but Snow White is a classic and favourite too many. So why is she so entitled to changing the plot for her own preferences? Disney and the whole "woke" approach to their movies these days is annoying and kids do not care for politics, aren't they supposed to sell us dreams? If they really wanted to make an independent Snow White, by all means, make one, but in an alternate reality after the official release of an actual Disney original remake? Snow White is the first Disney princess and changing it for the sake of changing it seems very disrespectful to Walt Disney's work. Besides, why would you play a character you don't like?

AND gave her a sweet, brave, charming Prince whom she truly loved and did anything for. That Snow White was the one I liked the best and ultimately, made me give 1937's Snow White another chance because I thought she was too childish before. Now, I love her and Ginnifer Goodwin's portrayal so much. This, Rachel...No.

At this point ,every live action Disney princess has the same personality. They are all morphing into the same person. Snow white is supposed to be a really soft spoken, naive and gentle person who was strong enough to endure lots of hatred and abuse because she was always looking at the bright side. That is a strength on its own. The story wouldn't even feel the same if she was a 'strong' or brash or whatever characteristic that Disney adds to snow white to make her more 'proactive'. It was also a similar change with live action Belle. She was less of a dreamer and more of an activist; which is fine, but it is not Belle.
As a former animator we don't refer to classic Disney films as "Cartoons". It's an animated film. Cartoons are what you see on saturday morning. Totally different process and category. She's clueless.

I also was very disturbed by Snow White as a child, but that was because I got a hold of the Brother Grimm’s version - the original - which is a lot darker than the Disney version. If you think that Snow White is young in the animation, she was just 7 years old when she ran away from the huntsman in the original tale. And she gets poisoned at the age of 14, while the prince is 30. But those things would be super easy to change.
For example, in the original fairy tale the prince doesn’t kiss her to wake her up, one of his servants trips, causing the prince - who’s carrying Snow White - to fall and she coughes the piece of apple out. He then asks to marry her and she accepts. How about we duplicate that - her coughing up the apple - but instead of a marriage proposal, let’s make it a start of a strong friendship. Problem solved.
She can still be a feminist icon by not wearing armor and having a sword. Feminism is about the right to be true to who you are and the narrative Disney has been pushing (e.g. the strong independent I don't need a man and you should be ashamed for just wanting to find true love) is something I would describe as the wrong side of feminism. Snow white was my favorite princess as a kid bc she had short hair, talked to animals, and was kind. I want the new snow white to be just as gentle and soft as the original. That’s something I really liked about her, she was a bit shy. I feel like that’s why she was able to connect so well with animals. And that guy’s explanation about how not all female-led roles have to be stories of women being leaders. I want to be living in the forest baking pies and singing while I clean too!!

Obviously, the fact there’s backlash over who was casted for the lead in a disney live action will always remind me of how crazy people went when it was announced that Halle Bailey would be playing Ariel. I still don’t get it. She still had red hair. Just bc the story was written in Denmark, doesn’t mean the person who plays Ariel has to be Danish, or white. None of those features are defining for Ariel. I’m glad they kept the red hair, because that is something that very clearly distinguishes Ariel from the other Disney Princesses. Anyone of any race can play Ariel and rock that red hair, because it’s not meant to be a redhead or ginger red, it’s literally the color of Sebastian, an unnatural red.
With Rachel Zegler playing Snow White, however, I do think it should be someone with skin as white as snow, because that is a direct part of the story, it’s the reason why she’s named SNOW WHITE. But I don’t think that whoever has to play her needs to be German.
I just wish they would have used a different hair style on her. The one in the movie was just ugly.

I was honestly ok with the reimagination of the character, but the actress' hyper agression is a complete turn off. Look @ the snippet of Gal explaining the story like a sane person. I will be watching because I prefer watching the film first b4 I cast stones. Disney should let Gal deal with promoting the movie, because I can c y ppl would b turned off by the actress playing Snow White.
they already did this movie though. snow white and the huntsman? cmon stay somewhere near the realm of the classic.

I'm a huge fan of the Disney classics. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie of all time. Those movies mean so much to me, i grew up with them. I hate when i see someone talking this way.

When I heard that this movie was coming out and that Gal was going to be part of it, I pretty much lost all interest in the whole movie. Definitely, won't be watching this when it comes out. I will say this though, there is nothing wrong with the concept of love and falling in love. I don't understand why people attack the original movie because Snow White falls in love. Sure, I get it, Snow White's story is dark and there are parts of the movie that are not acceptable today, but it's a product of its time and people have to understand that. The way they are changing everything about this movie makes it feel as if they aren't retelling Snow White but rather just calling it a remake to get people's attention to watch it. At this point, I think it's better if they just scrap this whole idea and invent a new princess story that is original. I'm really tired of watching these lazy soulless remakes that Disney is releasing nowadays because they think it will make them easy money.
So Cinderella's live action did pretty good in the end. Anyway, people shouldn't get mad at Rachel Zegler for this, but at Disney. She's saying what she's been told by Disney, they're the ones who made the film and casted Rachel. She really didn't deserve all this hate.

In the original snow white movie 1937 when snow white gets lost in the woods still scares me, I'm 13 and I love that scene cause it's a little bit scary
I used to like Rachel since her role in West Side Story and now I have doubts about her now, she's showing her true colors and idk why she decided to be casted as Snow White while hating on the original source material. She ruined the film.
