Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray, who makes similar type of music and the song had a similar vibe made for a film was put into one of the 2 categories Billie won this year a decade ago and she didn’t win, despite the production of her song was way better and it had more than a overly sappy piano instrumental. I think Billie has talent, but 2 awards for that song when many other great songs came out that could have been song of the year or there were other songs that were used in media (some the same film as Billie) that was better is just ridiculous. Let alone that, the Best Pop Group/Duo category was full of collaborations, which isn’t a duo, the artist aren’t partners, but collaborators, shows just how biased and honestly unreliable their opinions are of music excellence really is. And let alone that…Billie has 2 albums and has gotten 9 Grammy’s in 4 years while artists who have been in the industry since she was a kid, I’m going with Miley who just now won her first 2 this year over 17 years of being in the industry, it’s messed up seeing lesser than songs getting awards that I personally think don’t deserve it. And I think Dua Lipa’s song was pretty good, even for a basic pop record. But again, it’s my opinion, nobody had to agree with me.

And I definitely agree that Lana (and many other great artists) are snubbed for awards they deserve over others who’s work isn’t on pair. I think for the most part it’s money being thrown at the people who judge the Grammies (which isn’t much different than the Radio, because the radio is basically artist’s companies paying to blast their artists songs on the radio). When artists are introduced on award shows or televised broadcasts, their accolades often include their most prestigious awards, such as Grammy nominations or wins. This is because other awards are not held in the same high regard. If they were, artists would likely attend the award ceremonies where they are also nominated. My point is that if artists truly wanted to bring about change in these institutions, they could, but they choose not to.
