We really are lucky I guess as its different for our digestion.
We have been travelling 6 months now and we both got sick once each we always eat where locals recommend 😊
The red sauce in your earlier part of video is actually “tomato chutney” or in local language its called as “thakkali chutney”
It's delicious 😋
Idli is not just made from rice. Idli flour is a mixture of Rice & URID DAL at a proportion of 3: 1 .
Rice & URID DAL are soaked separately for 6 hours and then ground into flour separately and then mixed and kept overnight to ferment.
Then the mixed flour is steamed into idli or dosai .
Urid Dal is very nutritional and contains high protein.
So please note IDLI is not just Rice flour , but contains UDRID DAL.

That's called parotta, paratha is a north Indian flatbread, which is actually a bit different. Its like saying naan and chapati is the same... but they are different. They do sometimes, spell it the same, because they want to create less confusion, but in fact it creates more.

Next time for your dinner do try “Kothu parotta” in English it is “ minced parotta”. Do visit one of the iconic non-veg restaurants in Chennai namely “Anjappar” They have multiple outlets, however here is one “J P Tower, 7/2, Nungambakkam High Rd, Tirumurthy Nagar, Nungambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600034”

Cost of food depends upon the standered of hotels. Bigger resturents have to pay more rents better decorated better pay for hotel staff better maintainence better quality of ingrdiants will cost more

@KayandGogo I like your concern about weaker sects. But please eat in hygiene and clean hot and freshly prepared food. Always drink either filtered or bottel water. Because of hepatitis B.
Always cheap when you have idly at street food.. And looks like you didn't have Parrota and gravy combination in good resturant or Street food.. it's amazing combination in Chennai so please try it and share it..

Aloo is potato. What you were calling as aloo is Sambar (lentil + vegetables soup). The orange color chutney is tomato + garlic +red chilly chutney. The white chutney is made of coconut + lentil.
