Going back to Christian movies, The Ten Commandments with Charleston Heston, The greatest story ever told with Peter Otool and Ben Hur with Heston again were great movies that we still watch today specially around Christmas and Easter. Even Cleopatra with Liz Taylor and Richard Burton based on the Roman Empire and Egypt was as amazing. Great movies are like great books. They stand the test of time.

@@deibtryin Yes, but I don't agree with the general consensus. I've read that David Chase was in negotiations with James Gandolfini to make a Sopranos movie - this is probably one of the reasons that the ending was so oblique?

@deibsama he died . If he didn't die, the themes --and the plot --make no sense . And the writers are good . There is nothing ambiguous about thr ending . It's death. Dead.

I donno why people are that confused by Sopranos ending, I mean if you watch it only one time and you kinda speed run and don't completely pay attention to details it can be confusing but if you watch it more and with attention it makes so much sense, the last two seasons they're really showing you how Tony is losing control and most of all he's really giving up and not caring about what happens, he kinda lets it go, he tries to change after he comes out of a coma and fails and becomes even worse, tries to kill Paulie after he realizes he betrayed the family but can't do it(basically kinda lets a loose end hang because he doesn't care that much anymore)everybody around him either dies, rats or goes to jail and he knows that's happening to him most likely sooner than later, and killing Christopher basically shows his character arc is in the last stage, I mean Christopher is basically an extension of him and its not like he just dies, Tony kills him, willingly, and aside from that they talk a lot about how when you get shot you don't even know it happens, it just goes black and that's what happens at the end, and that's not even the focus, what happens to Tony is not what the writing focused on, that's the obvious part, what mattered was the psychological aspect, how it happened, the human condition, what brought him to this, how much he was like his mother, etc, it was an amazing and grim season, very dark

Hey guys! I agree completely about the sopranos ending. Maybe it was a possible moral compass case on thinking about how it ends.
Remember the ending in the book Of Mice and Men? George put a bullet in Lenny’s head. Was it to save him from being tortured and sparing him the pain? Or was is it out of anger?

I live in Tucson, Az. And in the late 70’s, I worked at a men’s clothing store Dave Bloom & Son, at the time I didn’t know who anything about Mr. Joe B, until the one of the owners introduced me to him, Mr. B asked me if I knew him? Which at the time I didn’t, and could only reply with, is if he worked with my Grandfather who was a Freemason, who was known for his great work in building custom fireplaces and he had the best reaction, just laughing like it was the funniest thing he ever had heard, from then on after his suits were done being altered, I had to deliver them to his home. At that time I only knew about the movie The Godfather, my favorite movie of all time, he was a Great tipper

he's sitting at the booth, and when the door opens he lok up & we are seeing Tony's point of view thru his eyes of the person walking in. than the door opens u hear the bell, & it turns black & silent. because I think that's where he was killed & we are seeing his perspective of black silence of death.

this is the first time I've heard from anyone that they didn't like Sopranos ending
obviously Michael and Chazz didn't understand it, the last scene was a pay-off for a massive amounts of set ups during the season, all kinds of little lines explained the ending, from the godfather restaurant reference, to not hearing it when it happens, to the killer looking like Eugene, Meadow doing a double park and failing two times resembling the two previous failed hits on Tony, and many, MANY other clues, and it had philosophic themes to it as well, but Michael doesn't like it because he wanted the ending to be spoonfed to him, a regular typical ending where you don't have to think about it and its obvious and standard.

I do want to attach 7 years ago I was in the homeless shelter system I've been on and off for quite some time and I can actually agree with Michael they are into drugs there's some pretty big names in the drug business that are tied to the Mafia in out of respect of having to be homeless and you know in recovery and I've also met people in witness protection in the recovery industry as well, on top of the fact that the mafia controls some of the halfway houses in certain parts of New England let's just say that yes they are in the drug business and the reason why they're in the drug business they've been driven into that business because of all the major political players that have completely consumed every area of the economy, and also destroying the economy at the same time leaving no real real estate banking I want to say as well as insurance the mafia was an insurance at one point Blue Cross Blue shield we can go back to them, long story short yesterday Mafia is buried and actually drowning in the drug industry because I have no other options available to them without getting back by the government.

Sopranos is my all time favorite show. Will never be beat. Watched entire series 20 times. Worst ending in tv/cinema history. I just made my own ending that he was shot in the back of the head in front of his family as soon as meadow walks in. Due to Bobby and Tony talking while fishing and he says “it probably just all goes black when it happens” which might be the ending anyway. But the ending was bs.

My favorite is a Bronx Tale. All others are too Hollywood fake. As far as actual fictional, I like Marcellous Wallace, especially the end with Bruce.

I mean, Godfather is far better than Bronx Tale, and is a perfect encapsulation of the mafia after WW2.

Well I can say this, Sonny in Bronx Tale was way more scary than that poof Vito Corleone. As a matter of fact Chaz Palminteri did such a good job of playing Sonny, that I'm afraid of him in real life. I fear Chaz more than Mr. Franzese, who in reality was a real made guy.
