Well done - the review is very helpful.
great honest review and video. I have a bottle of hydrosilix I only use it with uber rinseless wash 2 make a sio2 detail spray between washes.i actually fell in love with 303 graphine spray coating. gloss and durability are amazing .
Richard, thanks for watching and the kind comment. The 303 Graphene is wayyyyy better, I liked it when I reviewed it recently. For the price being so similar, I'd rather have the 303 Graphene any day.
Dollar store durability for boutique store price; HydroSilex says that it lasts 6 months... maybe that's how long it lasts if you leave the bottle open to evaporate over time.
It's too bad it wasn't a performer :(, this is the second time I'm trying a version of Recharge, wipes were even worse. They need to go back and figure out what's going on with this stuff.
Cool take on testing
Thanks Matt, appreciate you watching!
Really like your videos you should consider testing different tire shines.
Thanks Jamie, I may expand to that. I can't totally boil the ocean as I'm limited on production volume at the moment, but maybe if I can get a part time helper in the future I can keep expanding the categories I test. Tire shines would definitely be cool to check out!
I used wolfgang spray coating and liked the results overall. BUT the two things you mentioned are exactly what I thought. A bit difficult to remove and was not slick at all. Instructions were noticeably different than the manufacturers demo video.
I want to try blackfire sio2 spray on top of the wolfgang.
Happy new year!
Thanks John, happy new years to you too! Hope you're doing well buddy. Been a minute since I've been up to NY. Hopefully soon when covid dies down.
Great review!
Thanks Hank! Hope you had a good holiday:)
Yay a new upload
Thanks for watching!
Great Video! Thanks
Thanks, glad you liked the video!
Please consider doing a review of the Wolfgang si02 rinseless wash. It can be diluted and used as like 5 different products.! I use it as a quick detailer and freaking love it!! I'd be interested to hear your opinion of it
Added it to my list. I did a couple of waterless washes recently and I'm thinking of doing more in the future.
I was really disappointed by Recharge aswell. I would even say CGs butter wet wax is better than it and that isn't even that great either. I was hoping it wasn't one of those " ad hype " brands when Detailersdomain first advertised it but turns out it was as time went on. Definitely fooled.
Yea it's too bad, they are nice to work with as far as samples and all that, but just not a good product. Kind of wonder how much they test it or if it's just white label of something, who knows. Hopefully they improve their formulations. Thanks for watching!
So what’s the best ceramic coating so far??
I've used the WG Uber Ceramic Spray Coating on a couple cars now. 2 light coats. Second coat 24 hours after. Then a few weeks to a month later apply your favorite wax or SIO2 topper over it for some great results. YES, not very slick. After you add the topper it takes care of that.
The topper is definitely incredibly slick! Thanks for the feedback which im sure will help others and I appreciate your viewership!
Brian at Apex got triple digit readings on his gloss meter when demonstrating his Blue Collar 3 or BC3 detail spray. Would be a good test on your glass and gloss meter. I ordered some and it did seem to enhance the gloss of my SiC and Gyeon Pure EVO coatings visually. Very easy to use as well. I think I like it better than Topper. They are both really good.
What was his starting gloss reading before application and what measuring angle was used? I havent seen that specific video but will look for it. May need to test bc3.
@@DmitrysGarage He didn't say but he used Papa Cut compound and 50/50 uro fiber pad which normally leaves around 93-94 gloss units and then applied BC3. His gloss meter looks like yours.
Dmitry, another great comparison!!!
That Hydrisilex its not cheap and apparently is more like a SiO2 Detailer product than a real sealant.
Did you experience any hardening of the towel that you use to buff off the Wolfgang or you think it can be used on paint again?
Thanks! Glad you liked this video :). The towel didn't seem to really get hard like from a super concentrated liquid coating. Plus this stuff dissolved with Isopropyl. So I think it will wash well and be re-usable. I haven't done that laundry yet though!
Wolfgang wins again. I’ve done used this spray coating for a while now and like most of Wolfgangs products I love it.
Discovered Wolfgang products recently myself. I bought this ceramic coating on black Friday to save a little bit of cash. I absolutely LOVE it. You're right in that it stinks immediately after application for slickness, but I've found that it improves over the next day or so. I also top in with their SI02 rinseless wash and double the slickness while enhancing hydrophobicity! Great review!!
Thanks Mike! Glad you liked the review. I think it's a quality spray coating as well. I haven't tried their SiO2 rinseless wash yet, but Wolfgang has been good in general when I've used it. For this product I did let it cure for over 24 hours before testing, but just didn't get enough slickness on its own. I'm sure with a topper that could be corrected. Thanks for watching!
I prefer it that these products stink rather than smell good. Over time these chemicals deteriorate sense of smell and could cause Silicosis unless it states it's an amorphous silica like Turtle wax hybrid ceramic spray.
Love the reviews!
Would love to hear your wax/sealant/coating recommendation for lazy car owners (might make a good video)? I wax the car once per year, and am still using Nu Finish (which makes a bit of a mess on my black trim and when I get it on black rubber)….the car gets washed every 2 months or so....the car lives in Texas, and spends days and evenings in a garage...goal is to keep the paint looking decent for the MANY years I plan to own it (plus it is satisfying to see water bead up). I would love to find something easier to apply and with better durability.
Joel, thanks for watching! I expect to publish an annual best wax video (may expand to quarterly at some point) and I published one last year here:
czcams.com/video/tudaVloqmqU/video.html
I also have a website where you can see all prior scoring and compare the products. This way you can see how many washes they're passing as well as their other qualities. Hopefully this will help you find the best product :)
dmitrysgarage.com/wax
In my humble opinion (which you didnt ask) I would say if you only wax your car one a year I would do it with something much more substantial than Nu Finish. Actually a great/cheap combo that you can use with incredible results is Seal n Shine improved formula every 6 months and Ceramic Wet Wax as a drying aid every time you wash your car
I would say Seal n Shine is a good example of a product that could be used a few times a year. Not a bad suggestion.
Thanks for all that. I will give the Seal N Shine a try!
Shocking difference in durability between the 2.
Totally, was a big difference! Thanks for watching!
I used the Wolfgang on y black car and I’m very disappointed in the lack of gloss enhancement. Any suggestions?
This is not the prettiest of wolfgang products. It does increase the looks but not as much as othere. The wolfgang uber sio2 silica spray is much prettier in my opinion.
@@DmitrysGarage Thanks, I wish I knew this before I spent so much on this expensive product.
have you try using TLC the black ice?
Ken, Black Ice is on my list for future tests. Will add another vote for it :)
What is the best detail spray for a black car
Dennis, are you looking for a spray with wax properties? Most sprays are just for simple cleanup and maybe some gloss enhancement, so I would say most detail sprays are fine for any color car.
can you please do a review on this product ..

they have a graph-x coating as well
Valentin, I'll get that added to my ever growing list ;), thanks for watching!
Had the same experience with Hydrosilex as you. Very disappointing for a "higher end" product.
Yea it's too bad, I was hoping the little wet nap product they had was just a bad applicator, but this is only marginally better.
Can you do search city garage speed demon
Dennis, I added the Surf City Garage Speed Demon to my list :)
Most "So Called Ceramic Coatings" are not even Ceramic Coatings and just Quartz Coatings.
It's marketing terms. The marketing argument is that silica is often used in ceramics, and the most common form of silica is quartz, so that means quartz must be a ceramic! In reality they're not taking a quartz crystal and dissolving it into a bottle. Quartz is pure silica, but not all silicates are quartz. In reality typically siloxanes and other organosilicon compounds are use to make the coating.
Scientists refer to the amount of silica in a rocks by percentage even if the rock isn't quartz, because they just mean the amount of silicon and oxygen in the rock. I would venture a guess that the marketing approach for coatings is similar in that "we can refer to the amount of SiO2/silica in our emulsion by percentage too even if it's not quartz, it still has silicon and oxygen in it." For instance octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane is a popular compound in coatings and it definitely has oxygen and silicon in it so one might say "we have this % of silica in our coating".
@@DmitrysGarage Good Answer but let's not forget that SiO2 and SiC are not the same.
@@audiovideotech9777 Heh I would definitely consider Silicon Carbide to be an actual ceramic coating if they could do it in a bottle :).
Wolfgang is outside price-for-value reach. I cant justify buying this for $100 a bottle when there are others that do it for
Jeff, it is pricey. Just to clarify its $100/pt, a bottle is under $50 but its a small bottle. Pint is a pretty standard size so I use it to compare prices.
@@DmitrysGarage thanks for the clarification. Wolfgang products are not bad by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the time outstanding!
Iam sure glad I don't use either of these products!
Thanks for watching! The Wolfgang isn't bad they just need to figure out the slickness and it'd be well above average.

I love my last coat products for now!
@@billy2bob63 Last Coat is definitely legit.
Good content, but why such low video quality? The video is very desaturated compared to most other reviewers.
Matt not sure if you’re getting a weird version of the video encoding from youtube or something, but I would say its reasonably saturated. Can you link me to what you’re comparing it to? I will say a lot of youtube videos are shot on phones and small mirrorless cameras that generally have a very (imo overly) saturated profile. Im shooting log and raw 4k on full frame sensors so my video comes out of the camera like raw photos, with a very flat desaturated look, but I add quite a bit of saturation in post. Just not as much as a point and shoot or iphone post-processing because I think it looks too unrealistic.
