Never seen a DC15 filter do that before, complete decomposition must have been washed in some kind of damaging detergent, as Dyson say to use warm water only to wash filters. The upright lock stand mechanism operates a small microswitch which is supposed to disengage the brushroll motor when the back wheel stand is down (in upright locked position). This microswitch is faulty - I had the same issue on my own DC15 (UK model) when I first bought it and Dyson had to send an engineer out to replace the microswitch, which is fairly well hidden but is possible to see if you look carefully behind the upright lock stand mechanism . The noisy brushroll head is probably worn direct drive cogs from the motor to the brushroll - they dont use drivebelts on these, and the brushroll comes as 2 seperate halves, so they do have a bit of play to them, but the play in yours is excessive, which probably causes more rattling and noise. That machine has had a lot of use for the brushroll to be virtually bald of bristles, and maybe a new brushroll would help it, but I'm not 100% certain it would help make the drive cog noise that much quieter, although it might do. The tools from a DC15 wont fit a DC14 by the way, they are a different neck diameter.
Cool! You should look into getting vacuums from the Online Goodwill Auction. I got a DC24 from there for about 20 dollars. Sadly shipping was expensive pricing at around 20 dollars, but it was quick. I am currently refurbishing it and I will sell it later on. If you want to bid on a vacuum there, check shipping costs first. You don’t want to end up overpaying due to high shipping costs.
I’ve looked into goodwill online auction. I noticed that the prices were good but the shipping was just too much for some of the machines there. So I’ve never purchased one from online goodwill. But I do like buying in store goodwill vacuums.
@@DillonCleans As for the brush roll, my DC24’s brush roll motor sounds the same as this one, so I think we can safely assume that it sounds okay. But if you are talking about it being louder as you push it, then idk about that. My DC24 doesn’t do that.
Date wise, they started making the DC15 in 2005, and it ran for a couple of years before the DC18 replaced it. There is a good chance that yours is from around 2006 being as they released them in the UK before they got modified handles for the US market. It will be around 14 years old is my guess. Parts for them are unavailable from Dyson as they stopped supporting the DC15 some time ago, but you may still be able to get parts such as brushrolls from ebay or other vacuum cleaner supplies stores.
I ordered a brushroll from Walmart for $16. It should be coming Thursday. And I did already refurbish it to decent condition and the brushroll is much quieter but it still isn’t quiet. I washed my filter casing and it seems to be good. So I’m actually running it with just the filter casing and no filter. I know that it’s bot the best thing to be but I works. These older dysons do a very good job at keeping the filters clean, and I won’t be sucking up loads of dirt so I think it will be fine. Also, if I get the Dyson dc14 that have been in some previous videos, I’ll just put that canister and cyclone assembly in this vacuum when I use it. Judging by the sticker, this vacuum was made September 2005 so it is 15 years old. I’ve been pretty happy with it and I’m sure I’ll be more happy when I get all the parts I need and it’s working back up to new

And the mother board in the air duck is Causing it to have the brush roll to spin in the upright position
so there is something wrong with my machine? if so , do you know how to fix it?
@@DillonCleans you would have to get new wires or a new board
I got one on eBay for 95$ and it works perfectly
I pretty happy with my purchase after I refurbished it. I will post that video soon

The play in the unit is normal
I saw that in some videos, but it’s a lot of play. I’m surprised that Dyson released a machine with the many problems that the dc15 has
