- Welcome back to another episode of Renovating a Ruin. This week I'm in the kitchen cooking traditional Italian homemade cannoli. I share some before and after shots to show you more of the history of this Tuscan villa and all the renovations that have been done on the property. And we try the new painted shutters on the main house. I have tried to make it almost all bilingual for those of you studying Italian. Hope you enjoy it! When I'm feeling low or completely overwhelmed at the prospect of so much work I have waiting, I also "surrender to the repetition" in the kitchen. Baking, kneading, or just engaging in the beauty of process that is cooking and baking helps me to solve problems, destress, and come back to the work that I love and life with a renewed enthusiasm. Today is hard, so thank you so much for reminding me.

When we were seeing the old stable, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be amazing to see Kylie on a horse, I see your riding outfit and coming up up the cypress drive at a trot, perhaps I will only have this as a beautiful dream. The blue shutters look lovely against the yellow/cream walls. I laughed when Guito was talking about change and how it takes time to get used to, you two are like yin and yang. You both compliment each other very well. Thank you for all of the hours you spend making these films, they always bring so much joy. Have a great week.
I think this must be my favourite so far. Such a profound comment "surrender to the repetition" has so resonated for me. I have not worked now in two years and am finding the adjustment interesting. Four of my friends have moved away and my mother and sister passed away recently. My husband -- who is Dutch works, and I have been waking up every morning wondering what I'm going to do all day. I make a list in my head -- get up turn the salt lamps on, feed Griffen the dog and Ludwig the cat. Put my contacts in, check You tube for new vlogs, water the garden do the dishes etc. I felt I was in a rut and this constant repetition - ground hog day was started to irritate me but you have put a new perspective on it and helped me count my blessings Thank you beautiful talented lady for allowing me to experience your world xxx

Although my spouse and I have been to Italy several times, you have truly brought La Done Vita into our lives. Dear Kylie, I usually write you at Instagram, but as I´m still working (it is quite late in Brazil - almost midnight - must early morning for you in Italy) I decided to watch episode 5 here. You know, I´ve had quite a hard and tiring day, it was very scorching here and I got so many stuff from work, so much stress, emotions going more down than up and I had just had some coffee before sitting at the computer again when I came through this lovely story of the farm and the blue windows and the cannoli recipe and the amazing landscapes from Tuscany, and all the details you capture so gracefully. I was just thinking about you this morning, and how much your work has impacted me and what a profound importance it has to me, and then I saw this, which I of course loved as always. I don’t usually comment but earlier this week I was having a hard day and I spent an afternoon watching all of your old videos to cheer myself up. They are so comforting and inspiring and like a balm for my soul, and I admire you so much for making them, even though it wasn’t always easy and people were sometimes very doubtful of your dreams or negative. I’m so glad you exist and I’m so glad your work exists! And I’m so so glad you are getting more success lately, you deserve it so much! But I guess this morning I was think about what a shake it would be not to tell you how much your work means to me- how much it comforts and inspires awe and peace in me, and inspires me in my own dreams making CZcams videos and most of all writing, as well as inspiring me with your outlook and the type of romantic, wonderful life we must never give up on. I just found your channel. I am in love. I married into an Italian family several years ago. . I started making cannolis many years ago. We typically eat them for special occasions. I put heavy whipping cream, ricotta, chocolate chips, powdered sugar and vanilla in the recipe I make. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I love the Italian music in your video. Kylie - your art/videos inspire a longing to visit Tuscany again!! In 2001, my family and I had the honor of staying at a home in a sweet village called Nicola. It was so charming and everyone was so welcoming! There was a trattoria in the village owned by Giuseppe and his family and they were so gracious, plus the food and wine were absolutely amazing! I hope one day I will be able to go back. Thank you so much for bringing the memories of that visit back to me! Grazie!!!

The Tuscan countryside whizzed by in a kaleidoscopic whirl of shapes and colors. Green grass and trees melded with blue sky, purple and yellow wildflowers, peachy-orange villas, brown-and-gray farmhouses, and the occasional red-and-white Autogrill, Italy's (delicious) answer to fast food

A little 'trick' for testing your cooking oil heat..if you do not have a thermometer ..is to take the tip of a wooden spoon handle and put it in your oil..the more little tiny bubbles that form at the tip of the spoon and oil..the hotter the oil.
