Right to the point and good information! As opposed to other CZcams channels, that would take about 30 minutes just to cover something like this lol. I didnât know that the screwdriver that was provided would be able to do that in the Subaru, well doneđ.
Thank you. I had to go into the garage to confirm this on an Outback and Forester. Great information as always.

I've gotta uproot some shrubs. This'll do it. Thanks!
I will check if the tether is still there on my Subie , I have towed a bunch of friend's cars of different brands, and none have had a simple but so desirable feature as a tetherđ
What size of shackle (d ring) should I use to connect to the Subaru forester standard included towing hook (eye)?
Going off road? i would advise you ever use this point for pulling another vehicle out of lose terrain. The towing capacity of this fixture is only 1.5 tons. I tried to pull my friends car that was stuck on the beach out of soft sand and my entire bumper and its supporting brackets plus the tow point bracket got ripped off the car. This would be my main complaint about Subaru they need to beef up the towing point strength
Hello James, what subaru was it? what exactly happened? how safe is to tow a Forester out of the mud or sand or help anohter vehicule to do so? thanks
Well it is a recovery point designed solely to recover the 1.5 ton forester and is not in any way shape or form meant to be used to tow another vehicle.
hey what up, well yes the towing capacity with a Forester is 1500 lbs, even if u got the XT model its stay as 1500 lbs. It's clearly don't made for towing other vehicles.
James Hodge these hooks are only supposed to be used for rescuing/towing your *own* vehicle, not others. If you want to rescue somebody else, you should probably only try it with a hitch. But anyway, point taken-be careful with these.
Is there a front recovery point?
Mine gets super tight before the threads are fully in (using a 12" screwdriver for leverage)...
is it safe to use a largher cheater bar to get it fully in, or am I going to damage threads on the *FRAME*?
Thanks! Was wondering what was supposed to go in there.

Why does it look like the Foresters have a lot more storage room than the Outbacks? Do they?
Being off center is OK? I see in the front of the Outback, and underneath, there are TWO attachment points, which I supposed was to allow for even pulling from the left and right side? Bu no worries in the back, just one point, off center?
+Jmichael Isbell Thanks for watching! Those tow hooks are not meant for long distance towing. They are used to help get the vehicle onto a flat bed, or get the car pulled out of ditch etc. 1aauto.com
@@1AAuto I understood this was not for towing, even so, to yank hard and pull out of snow, mud, etc, I was very surprised to see that my Outback offered balance, left and right for the front, but off center for the back. And if I were pulling someone out, I would prefer dead center when I yank another car out. Just saying. I COULD put a light weight hitch on the back I suppose, to center the pull point.
Good point. In the video you just say âtowâ so some people start to think you can tow long distance or even tow some other vehicleâŠ
But isnât a D-ring recommended since most steel or composite tow lines come with a loop at the ends?
I mean itâs harder to attach the line without a D-ring and maybe less likely to stay attached?
The video starts with âif you need to have your vehicle towedâŠâ
I donât believe this should be used for having your vehicle towed any distance.
Except maybe to be pulled out of a ditch.
But then Iâm not an expert.
Pop the cap off cause they will fly off when being towed , tow trucks are not responsible for the caps
those tow hooks are just for looks
