I'm still hurt at how more teenage/young adult the 3 boys from sitcom Fresh Off the Boat are, they were so little on season 1 I dont even have kids yet an when I see my younger cousins or any younger baby/kid getting bigger I'm like nooooo stay a baby, I cant handle you guys growing up but I'm glad there's nothing wrong stunting your growth.
when I was born, my mother had a different name for me but she said as soon as she saw me I was wiggling my nose so she named me Tabatha. Just started watching this show recently and now I’m obsessed ❤️

They did a wonderful job wrangling the kids and having Erin Murphy doing her lines and hitting her marks.

I think the more pressing question is why the teacher didn't notice that Amy was [played by] a 7-year-old who is in nursery school with 4-year-olds. She was not very observant at all.

That teacher was a real piece of work. But I did feel sorry for her after she “lost” Amy. LOL
She was Miss Mamie Baldwin on "The Waltons" a few years later.
My favorite 2 Tabitha lines in the series when she says "that's where I saw her flew" and her mother corrects it to fly and she says "no she flew" It is so funny
This is such a memorable episode and the one that most people remember from the series. I think this was from Season 4. Erin Murphy was so cute. She looks to be about 3 years old here.
Season 5 and she was 4 years old.

Actually Erin has a fraternal twin sister and sometimes the producers would switch them out for the role. Sometimes Erin played Tabitha and sometimes her sister played Tabitha. When they got older though the role was given to Erin.
@@mariafox9226 Beginning with THIS episode at that, when Erin took over the part alone. Diane, her twin would sometimes appear as other characters afterwards however.
I relate to this episode. When I was in nursery school, I used to love to chase and catch butterflies when it was outdoor playtime.

Is it any wonder that episodes like this are an absolute scream to watch over & over again I can mouth the dialogue from a number of episodes from Bewitched especially when I have the entire series my favorite is when Sam & Darrin have each other’s voices I just bust a gut
Erin Murphy is so cute here but here T.V. Elizabeth Montgomery is so BEAUTIFUL, loved the close up of her beautiful green eyes, her blonde hair and her face, such a HOTTIE she was, gone way before her time.
When Elizabeth had a tan, with her lovely blond locks falling around her shoulders and was wearing a chic black dress...she was even more stunning, just stunning.

@@282828lisa The teacher is played by actress Maudie Prickett. The actress who portrayed Mother Nature in commercials was actress Dena Detrich who also played one of Dorothy's sisters on The Golden Girls. They do both have similar qualities.

Children do need to learn that they can't always have their own way, but in this case, I think the teacher made her be the toad out of spite. If you notice, she went down the line to assign parts, but then she suddenly skipped Amy, made the next boy in line the butterfly, and went back and made Amy the toad.

According to Liz, the "suits" in New York were against introducing a child into the Stephens' family. But when fans found out that Liz was pregnant with her second child, the fans flooded the studio with letters congratulating her and Bill Asher and were excited about the new addition to the series. Well, Sam had a girl and Liz had a boy. Tabitha was born, and as they say, the rest is history. Tabitha, one precocious witchlet. 🙂
So it's like when Lucille Ball had her second child and they wrote her real-life pregnancy into the show.
Not only do I relate to this episode, because I loved butterfles as a preschooler( and still do),
but also because my first teacher for the 4 year old class was a complete hothead, like
Burch, thanfully I got a much kinder one, in the 5 year old classroom after turning that age.

First, Amy insults Tabitha by calling her little, then Tabitha does the same by calling Amy "Big". But they have become best(?) friends next time we see them together! Such a short time. But it IS TV after all.

At the beginning of the episode there's a minor spat between Sam & Darrin,
it goes like this Darrin "I hate to say this, but I don't trust her." Sam "Darrin"?!"
Darrin: "Nobody trusted me at her age, and I wasn't even a witch!"
So there are some concerns on at least Darrin's side.

@@kellymcfalls1458 If I remember the episode correctly Mrs Stevens (Darrin Mother) felt Tabitha was spending to much time alone. She didn’t understand why Samantha wouldn’t allow her to play with other children so she took it upon herself to enroll Tabitha in preschool.

It'd have to be tweaked a bit because I don't think Darrin telling Samantha not to use her powers wouldn't go over well these days.
I agree.. Nicole Kidman and Shirley McLane were great in the movie. Will Ferrell and the plot and writing were terrible.
@@retnavybrat It could still work with Darren telling Samantha not to use her powers, even in this day and age. Everyone needs some guidance with regards to the morals and ethics. With power comes great responsibility after all. Endora used her magic a lot for what she deemed as fun and exciting but others regarded as wicked, whilst Samantha used magic to try to help her husband or to teach someone a valuable lesson which didn't always go according to plan. Darren considered magic as weird and unnatural and just wanted his wife to be normal but loved her nonetheless. So it could still work. Bringing it up to date for a modern audience shouldn't be that difficult. They managed something similar with Sabrina the Teenage Witch so anything is possible.
@@samanthahardy9903 There's a difference between offering guidance and ordering someone to abandon a vital part of their racial heritage, which is what Darrin did with Samantha.
NO to a reboot...it wouldn't even last for a half season. Look at some of the other shows they tried that with. You don't mess with the original.

I was dressed like this. And endlessly cautioned and shamed for accidentally showing underwear when playing like a normal person. Monkey bars were a problem, summersaults, picking up dropped things... it was endlessly awful.

Darin is just going to need to accept that his children are half-bloods and need to be part of the magical world to which they truly belong-and a great mortal like him is not going to stop them-even if is is their dad!

It's obvious, to me, at least that this episode was filmed around Dick York's failing health. Darrin has very little to do.
If York had been healthy then there would a subplot around landing an account. Likely "Amy"(in butterfly form) would have landed on the windowsill of Darrin's office(prior to flying up to the skyscraper), giving him the idea of using the insect as a logo for a new product.
THEN.. imagine how Darrin , arriving home would feel upon learning that the butterfly was actually a hexed classmate and friend of Tabitha's!
