I’ve never run more than 5 miles at a time in my life, but I love watching these videos for some reason!
That's your call to adventure. Get on it. Start running. Follow the couch to 5k. Maybe you are one of the greats, but still don't know it
Yeah, this is the opposite of my sport, being 6'6 and 110kg I am just not built for this, but you've got to respect these guys. I think I'd be happy if I did 1 loop. One of the toughest competitions out there, that's from a heavyweight boxer
That's what I did too, then slowly started running myself, form a couch to 5k to 10k, then half marathons to a full marathon. It is a great journey, you will love it.
@@youssefrochdi1994 Started off with 5k, to half marathons, to 18 miler, to marathons, just did my first 50k a month back and already training for my first 50 miler!
Now i know how to prevent nipple chafe
Seriously dude your mental resilience must be insane; my anxiety would absolutely max out if I was woken up and had to start running in the middle of the night like that. Seriously inspirational.
"Youre way too good a runner, to not have finished a fun run.." Lazarus line from the movie, came to mind. But just being at it for 40 hours is way beyond anything i could imagine. Great job, amazing footage.
You need a crew Jamil! I bet thousands would volunteer...
Only two people are allowed as crew since 2018. I volunteer from Spain to come and help you!
@@victormf1991 does this mean that when a runner drops out they can't become crew for remaining runners?
i take the most encouragement when i see how you deal with set backs im 68 yrs but still learning how to overcome setbacks great stuff
You lost a battle but not the war. You have a great attitude and I'm sure you learnt loads from your Barkley attempt, that will help you next time around. Thanks for making all the great videos.
I just discovered this marathon from my local news the weekend it was happening. I got curious and googled it. Next thing you know I'm watching the documentary on Netflix and watched via twitter the race results. That is how I find your channel. I'm hour north of the race in Scott county, TN. Good job man, that race is brutal. Keep at it. Proud of your accomplishment.
Good job Jamil...seriously, nice work!
It's so amazing that we get to see all this Barkley footage! You're the best Jamil!!!
9:20 that dedication to the vlog. thanks so much for taking the time to make all of these. really interesting for an ultra outsider like myself to catch a glimpse of what it's like and to pick up some inspiration seeing yall push so hard
John Zahorian Jesus christ I cant get away from you man. You are everywhere!
Wow! Thanks a lot for sharing this video. Honestly your inter loops clips add a new perspective to the race.
Always awesome to watch you. Looking forward to next year. 👍
Great work man, and thank you for letting us see some of what goes on during this race!
thx you so much for this footage, this race is soooo brutal, you have the biggest respect from me. i love your channel, and all the effort you've putting into it. keep running and racing. cheers!
Amazing as always.. thanks so much for posting this, i needed this after all the crazy crap happening in the world. happy to escape and live vicariously through you!
Awesome Jamil! You´re gonna crush it next time! You´ve got such an inspirational attitude!

Thanks so much for making this. Fascinating
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I was thinking all weekend I hope he has a great race. You did awesome ! What a crazy race and life experience.
Jamil, I (we) have learned so much from your documentation of your training, preparation and sharing so much of your thoughts and experiences throughout this process. Thank you so much for your commitment, courage and professionalism. All the best to you in your future epic running endeavours. Keep on keepin' on! You will achieve this goal!
Excellent vid as always Jamil. And great effort despite less than optimal training.
So much appreciate your attitude, humble yet tenacious. Nice job and thanks for the inspiration.
You're still the man Jamil! Great Job and Great Vid as usual!
great job Jamil! and thanks for getting this content put together so quickly. you captured the spirit of this race in your story telling. next year my friend, next year...
Good video! Laid it on the line with a great attitude. Always inspiring Jamil.
Absolutely love your vids, keep it up!
Great effort Jamil!
amazing! thank you for sharing your experience!
Wow. Thank you Jamil for continually posting such great content. That was not only an amazing physical and mental effort on your part but also a really fantastic piece of film making. I found myself almost yelling at my computer screen around 14.25 hoping you wouldn't take a 15min power nap. Laughed/cried watching you leaving the road at 17.40 straight into the forest without a trail in sight.
Keep up the great work.
Strong man all on his own. Deepest respect man. Thanks for the video.
This year´s experience for sure has made you stronger, fighting the adversity due to your rush. Hats off Jamil!
What a story to tell.. I'm in awe with everything the Barkley has to offer. What a race to see in person some day, keep on motivating and you did Arizona proud. Respect
My admiration and respect to you Jam!
I have followed this race for 2 years now and I just have so much respect for you and anyone who tries this. At my best health, before breaking my back, I was going to try this marathon. Like you said, things happen and you learn new ideas. I have become a well know photographer for my landscape photography now. Wish you all the best and keep following your dreams no matter what!
Jamil, brilliant effort on the Barkley! Can't imagine running for 12+ hours, much less close to 40hrs - especially as the Barkley isn't only about the trail running, there's the whole orienteering aspect which when you're exhausted can only become a massive challenge to overcome!
Thanks so much for creating your channel and sharing your experiences - that's probably the coolest thing: you really are sharing your experiences: the good and the bad, the joy and the disappointment at times... As a newbie to trail running, I both learn and get inspiration from your films, so thanks again and please continue!!!!!! I look forward to your next race posting with much anticipation and wish you all the best!
Amazing! I can’t wait to see how you do this year! I hope you become one of the few to finish!
Beast! Watch every vid you do. Never miss mt outhouse either. This is great vid I have watch many times thanks
Great job man. So impressed by everyone who takes on this bear. Awesome attitude and spirit!
Thank you for sharing, great job!
Dude without that rash you've got this next year. You're a boss Jamil
Jamil, congrats for attempting loop 3. Even in not completing fun run, your effort is still very inspiring.
Strong work! Hope to see you back out there
Nice job on this film and giving us a taste of Barkley. I enjoyed the musical compositions also. Well done!
Very proud of you Jamil! Cannot imagine a tougher race, and you gave it what you could which is what counts :-)
Awesome job Jamil. So, inspiring! Also, brilliant idea with the U-Haul. :-)
Jamil! So inspired by you and your way of dealing with alternate endings...I have struggled hard for years with being pulled off of a course...I wish I saw this before so I could have seen the proper way to handle it.
Your videos are such an inspiration man. You're the embodiment of everything that makes me so happy I discovered trail running.
I'm 28 and took up running 6 months ago after not being active for several years but I am hooked like I couldn't believe is possible. I have five 20ks in the next few months and one 35 K and I plan to aim for the Tarawera 100k next year or the year after.
In defeat you teach almost more than when you are successful, and you show a attitude that I hope I can bring to not just my running but to every area of my life.
Thank You from NZ.
What an incredibly hard race. Props to you for pushing it as long as you could!
Congrats with this year's Barkley! You did great man. Hope you train better for next year. I'm sure you can finish it! :D
These songs really remind me of Melpo Mene! Great stuff, Jamil!
Jamil, I love your videos. You are so easy to watch.
Thank you!
Great video and effort, Sir.
So humble...... well done!
Great effort mate.
Well done. I continue to be inspired by the Barkleys. Music in your piece was premo as well! Kudos
Getting there is already Gangster AF. Supporting you all the Way Jam Meister!
Massive respect for putting it out there and starting the race after recent hardships. Also, kudos for filming your aid stops. I find it very difficult to think about the camera when I'm racing
Your the man Jam jam
Proud of U Jam Jam
Much respect!
Well done sir! It's an honor to be able to run with you in the desert and too see your adventures.
So cool. The clip where you turn off the road to go straight uphill on no marked trail shows what terrain you cover. How did the new bag hold up? It looked pretty rough. How sweet was the new watch you got for the race? Cool souvenir.
loved this
It takes a meta hero to complete this course in 60 hours. Good efforts.
Nice work! New sub, just discovered your adventure. Keep kickin ass.
good job dude!
Rough & tough. Well done.
Well done Jamil. So humble in defeat. :-)
This dude has some dope hair
Awesome effort
always love your vlogs.......you are always Ja-man-il!!!!!
That sounded like everyone's favorite Ginger on the camera at one point.
True grit! You made it much further than I anticipated given your physical and motivational setbacks. A testament to your mental toughness. I'm very interested to hear the story behind your and Gary Robbins' new "ownership" of the Barkley. Also curious to see how you two balance that new role with your unfinished business as future finishers. Great video. Thank you Jamil!
Just realized the irunfar article I read was published on April 1. "Fake News" or April Fool's Day. Either way...Got me.
Omg I also googled this and was totally fooled. Wouldn't even have noticed the date if it weren't for the comments at the end!
You still crushed it jam jam.
You did more than 99.99% of the human population can ever even attempt. My hats off to you.
well said
good job man 👍👍
Solid effort with all the shit you have been dealing with! props!
Rock Solid achievement.
I can only imagine that feeling at 19:00. Your (any pretty much most others) body language looks like you are standing in front of the head master, caught after doing something wrong, "you got me sir, but I had fun until I was caught" Every one that stands there seems to have a similar vibe of being somewhat apologetic. Is that how it feels in the moment?
Dude, what an honor it must have been to suffer on those trails! Well done!
Honestly, while everyone was talking about John and Gary, the only thing I could think was, "How did Jamil's socks hold up?" haha!
me too!!! lol
Me as well!! And I know it wasn't the outcome you were looking for Jam Jam, but what a hell of an effort!
good stuff and much respect! what's your one take away from running BM this year?
I see a new twitter handle coming up to replace the lost WSsweatpants... #JamJam'sfeet Congrats on the effort, Jamil! Hope things line up better for you next go.
What you lost in time, you gained in followers. Love these, Jamil. What vest are you using?
Thank you for showing us this, how many times have you run this marathon? I don't care that you didn't finish brother, you still got out there busted your ass and made it look beautiful. Cheers
Link for the sweet socks? Please post 👌🏼👌🏼 lol and good stuff man this is really motivating and good music!
Awesome video! I love how you get stuff out so quickly after it happens. What an effort after that inconsistent training!
PS: What were the foot pics at the end about>?
They were just taking photos of my feet post race.
Someone should put these on URP black toenail hall of fame.
it's super fascinating to me, seeing these guys refuel in between loops. like seeing these guys choke down all this food and making tons of decisions on what they want to bring. deciding whether to sleep or like Jared Campbell, taking a bunch of showers during the Barkley lol
Powerful
11:05 you sure aged fast on that loop
Wonderfull :-)
well done
great job man! excellent short movie. what is your headlamp please? thanks
Mir Shafiee they're on Amazon
Pardon the pun...but I'm itching to see this one!
We eat sour patch kids on our adventures too!! We also like haribo peaches! Way better than any gel we have had!
Goood! Wich watch do you use?
Not saying i can do 1 mile of any of these but all the other ultra races i have seen mainly talk about coming back for a better time or beating a time. The Barkley is all about just finishing i cant imagine a harder run.
Steep Life #116? Jamil 16th finisher? Looks like you picked up a 1 man crew there nice!
them pringles were going down well :)
Anyone know what his little exploit was last year at the firetower?
