Thanks to Steve Fassezke for his assistance with editing this video - Sport
i love how Laz protected Jasmin from the camera guys when he realized she wasnt doing well. He's such a good dude
I've followed the Barkleys forever. This lady's mental toughness floors me.
The finishers picture is one of a kind!!!! Will remain in history of running!!!!
It's a beautiful photo
This new Coke ad is a slow burn for sure.
😂
Laz shouting at the cameraman to give Jasmin space 🩵
Jared and Igor looks as if they could easily have done another round. They do not even look beat or tired. Amazing.
Yes, Ihor didn't even need/want to sit down 😅
Such humble people, there was no air punching, shouting, screaming etc when they finished. I know by that point they are physically done but even so it needed a more than well done hugs.
Also wondered how many others completed 5 loops but didn't qualify, never hear anything of those equally amazing folks!!!
Honestly, John Kelly seems like the absolute loveliest person. He just jumps into action.
But what an incredible achievement for all of them. I’m keen to see what happens next year!
This raw footage is AMAZING! Thank you Mr Robbins for sharing🙏. You get a glimpse of how the vibe is in camp during the race. Loved it🫶
@Gary Robbins, you are such a bloody class act. The way that you went and crewed there, cheered for everyone, clearly soaking in their finishes, recorded this, edited the footage and then spent time with all the finishers so people you don't even know could also feel like we were there, when some people would just have sworn off Barkley for ever... thank you so so much for this !
Also, I cannot believe how Ihor finishes. He looks like he's just starting a 5k easy run after having had a good night sleep and the best breakfast of his life.
Thank you for your kind words 🙏
Incredible ! just to stay focused for 60 hours is a dang miracle. let alone going up and down 18K meters. Congratulations!
As an ultra runner myself, I’m amazed at the finishers nutrition and sleep deprivation management. Wow, absolutely amazing amount of passion and self discipline.
Thank you for this! I really enjoyed that you left all the casual conversations/interactions. As someone who will probably never get the chance to be there, it was really nice just seeing some of that plainly without docu-dramatization.
Incredible - and so moving. What I loved most was not only Jasmin’s finish, but how the entire community showed her such grace and admiration. It’s a reflection of the human spirit, so pure. The very best of people. Thank you, Gary, for this!
Dammit Gary, I was going to try and get work done today! Welp, 30 mins gone 😂. I love this so much. Thank you for posting!!!
Hey we all need work breaks
Thanks for sharing this, Gary. Love the unedited version, and how everyone supported each other. What a show of support from you, when others are saying "four finishers, amazing" and we can hear you say a couple of times "Hopefully five!" The enthusiasm in your voice when you are cheering Jasmin on near the end -- We are right there with you in the moment - it's obvious you were 100% willing her to make it to the finish.
This right here is the best humanity has to offer. Laz has created something that strips you off your ego and shows the real you without DMT. He nailed the set and the setting and invented a portal that only a few shall pass.. Great work capturing the video Gary.
I’m a machine elf? Tf?
Just found this (why am i always last to the party)really enjoyed your coverage of the barkley.
Sad 😢 to hear no more attempts.Best wishes.
Thanks for capturing this Gary Robbins, it's history
Thank you @Gary Robbins for putting this series of clips together, just fabulous! (and fun to hear some of the chatter in the background as well for a taste of what 'camp life' was like) 🙂
Jared looks like he's just finished an average weekend long run. At the same time John is a wreck. Well done all!
> John is a wreck
haha, well not as much of a wreck as the 2017 finish where in his delirium was literally wearing a grocery store plastic bag as a 'poncho'.
@@ps3udologue Yes, I remember that finish.
John and his bag is one of my favourite Barkleys moments.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos of this historic race! Thank you for sharing this insight with us!!!
I always imagine myself being there, you just made it for me. Thank you
Gary great coverage.!! You make the Barkley real and fun for a general audience.....Thanks for doing your stuff!! PS when is Chilliwack going to see a Ultra on the Big Chill...
We're four minutes in and I'm already tearing up listening to your joy as Ihor comes in. Thanks for all you do and all that you are, Gary.
Been watching this event for a few years now and it always amazes how anyone can finish. Fantastic stuff!
awesome! how the heck could Jared look so good after all of that?? I guess that's why he is 4x finisher. Amazing - all of them!
I gained a whole new set of heroes this year. Just when I needed them. Now watching Laz do his massive feat on Facebook too. You guys are all brilliant.
Keep this up we are all going to quit are jobs and move to Chilliwack.
Congratulations to all of the finishers this year...Gary- Thank you for putting together such a wonderful video showing each of the competitors completing this unique event & the comradery of all those who witness this fabulous accomplishment.
Not sure I’ll ever watch footage of Jasmin finishing without tears in my eyes. Great video. Thank you
Amazing from those five ! , what an epic year at the Barkley .
Wow Gary, that is epic footage. Thanks so much for sharing. Even better completely raw - like the Barkleys themselves.
Have you managed to get hold of Greig for an interview yet?
I have! We're connecting tomorrow 👍
congrats to the finishers and a special congrats to Jasmin. That was special
after jasmin sat up to drink the coke, everyone applauded and i also applauded haha
hahaha, it's hard not to get wrapped up in the emotion of it all :)
The community is strong. Thanks for this video and the interviews.

30 minutes of goosebumps! Thanks for putting this together! Excellent!
I'm not crying...😭Thank you Gary! That was awesome!!!
Thank you Gary! This was awesome coverage!
Thanks Gary! It’s very special to be able to see this
That has to have been the one of the, if not the best, weather situations ever
Wonderful video, thank you. We're so lucky to have footage like this available and freely shared. 18:38 - how is Jared able to do that after finishing Barkley? I can't do that for 2 days after a 20 mile run. Damo looked fresh - he seems like the most likely next finisher.
It was great to see the actual finishes like that. Thanks Gary.
Amazing video, thanks!!
This is fantastic, thank you for creating it!
Fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
great raw footage. Thank you!!
This was so cool to watch! Thank you for sharing.
Gary, have to pause while watching this to send you a message. I was at the pitch across from yours (I am the girl with the Alps tattoo). Watching your personal journey during the course of this incredible week was one of the most moving experiences. It seemed to be almost
Cathartic for you, and it was beautiful to witness. I hope our paths cross again.Steph
Thank you so much for this Steph! It was indeed a wonderful experience for me and very much affirmed my decisions these last few years. Means a lot to know it appeared obvious to this paying attention 😊
This was amazing! Thank you for this Gary!
Wonderful stuff Gary - thanks for capturing it all.

Sheer determination!
Most amazing finish ever...
Jasmin did such an epic achivement
Nice one
I was excited to see you there! I got pictures of you and my lame claim to fame was seeing you in person, even though I didn’t meet you.
You should've come up and introduced yourself
@@GaryRobbins I’m too shy!
This is so good Gary. Thank you so much. Love being able to see these magnificent moments.
Ihor at 23:41 😅
Laz in 2025: And I took that personally
Super awesome! I wish the audio was a bit better so I could hear more of the conversations going on.
yeah, it took a lot of editing just to get the sound levels to the point they're at. As best as can be hoped for off of a phone it seems.
Great video. Did you get an interview with Jasmine?
Yes indeed. To be posted here soon
@@GaryRobbinslooking forward to listening, can’t stop watching that finish. Must of been some effort from tower. One of the best Barkley moments.
bro that was fucking insane.
Finishing Fegys-style used to be a thing. Finishing Paris-style tho...
Gary, I still have a lot of hope that you will go back to the Barkley and finish the 5 loops yourself!
Look out 2025 participants, I hear Laz is going to keep the same time limit but add a 6th loop since it's too easy now. LOL
Oh, I hoped you would try one more time to finish! Such a shame, you have the best comeback story opportunity! Not too late?
i'm so impressed than in a place that looks so forlorn (everyone who describes frozen head as beautiful in early spring is a f-ing liar) AND on a course that is so difficult so many have managed 5 laps. that said, frozen head is still at least a notch or two above ironman/utmb, and two times a notch or two above vail:)
A man bends under a bar.
The crowd: Ooooooh!
A woman slowly sits and sips a cold beverage.
The crowd: Aaaaaaaaww!
😆
What happened to the easy button?
If there is a finisher the course is made harder for the next year, this year there was 5! How much harder is the twisted and evil mind of Laz going to make it next year! Reduced time? Longer course?
has anyone completed the marathon only to have a page/s missing at the end?
I’m not sure about the whole history but I think last year someone was missing a page because a hiker picked up the book thinking the race was over. The runner this made it under the cut-off but only found out at the gate that the book was taken and his finish counted.
This has happened almost every single year. This year French runner Guillaume Calmettes lost a page on loop 2 (not his first time losing a page at the race), he turned around and went back out to attempt to find it. Thankfully another runner had picked it up, though it took hours for Guillaume to find them with it and get back to camp. He barely got in under the 2 lap cutoff, and then went on to claim a Fun Run finish with 7 mins to spare! Truly one of the great stories from this year's edition.
@@GaryRobbins wow! that's incredible. Just imagine how sick you'd be thinking you'd completed it and you didn't have one of the pages! What an event and I tip my head to you all that have entered the race. It's truly remarkable.
How many pages were missing from the two guys that finished with "incomplete pages" ??
Sorry I do not know the answer to that question
@@GaryRobbins thanks for the response. Just seemed to me that they made a huge effort too, and don't get the achievement for not getting all the pages. They missed one page? Or they missed 10? Would be interesting to know. I think.
Rad
Jared is getting more handsome with age. So unfair how you men do that.
Waiting for the last guy to tough the yellow barricade gave me anxiety. And in the end he never did. I can only assume he ended up with a DNF.
the video does show all 7 people finishing their respective races, 5 were finishers, 2 were not. I only got footage of the Damian being bugled out though
@@GaryRobbins My bad it wasn't the last guy. I'm meant Sebastien Raichon, we never see him touching the barricade in this footage. I assume of course that he eventually did so I was only joking when I said he likely did not finish. 22:40. Still tough, just touch the gate first before you do anything else! Jasmin did it right.
SOAK IT ALL IN is an idiot thing to yell
