  • I've had this ebay rescue metal Tomb King sitting in paint stripper for over a month now waiting for an opportunity for me to paint him. Not only am I chipping away working on some TKs, I'm also planning a Mordheim project that's linked to my TOW one, and he was required to lead a warband.

    My googling seems to indicate he is the Tomb King from Tomb King on Chariot, not sure if he was sold on and off chariot but 100% official model at least. Looking great keep it up.

      Thank you 🙂. That makes a lot of sense, I could see the sculpt was the same apart from the one arm.

      Yep! He was also sold in an individual blister!

    Beautiful! I think adding fluorescent green to the eyes and mouth would make it even better. Great job!

      They’re so much fun to paint, I’m working on some right now for the army and the Mordheim warband.

    Not sure those are entrails, he might have a scarab infestation. Looks lovely, weathered ancient clothes and the lush bejeweled golds .. Tomb Kings the best dressed army in the Old World. Mordheim you say? Was that Mordheim? Excellent.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  Před 9 měsíci

      Ah that’s a good shout, scarabs would have been a good way to paint them. Yes definitely some Mordheim content coming very soon, starting with some scenery.

    Great tutorial. Tomb Kings is one of the only armies that got released and then removed as part of the removal of WH Fantasy that I never got around to collecting. When the Old World comes out I'm sure to rectify that.
    Unrelated to Tomb Kings but related to Old World, I found a box I had forgotten about owning that had a real mix of unopened blisters of metal minis. I remember the store I bought it from which oddly enough was a music store that happened to sell miniatures. There were Orcs, Bretonnian retainers, Space Orks, Eldar, Imperial Archers (Empire), Carrion (which on the back showed them as Maruder Miniatures despite being in the yellow card pack) etc. There were some non GW things too Army of Darkness the movie Deadites, Ravenloft (D&D) minis as well. It was a very cool box to find. Bascially all the minis related to early to mid 90s as I bought them in 97 or 98

      That’s an amazing find, some of them worth some good money these days as well. I live those old blisters, reminds me of looking at them for hours in the toy & model shop I used as a kid. They sold everything as well, so along with Citadel and Mairader, they’d have Ral Partha, Grenadier, and many more.

    • @Svengar
      @Svengar Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MiniatureRealms I think in the old days shops were more likely to sell everything. GW produces excellent stuff but certainly didn’t and doesn’t have a monopoly on great miniatures. Definitely some serious money in some of the blisters I rediscovered which is a little sad because if they still made/sold them I would still buy them…some of my favourite minis have been metal ones despite them perhaps having more static poses at times and not being as easy to convert. The older metal minis I think were more likely to have a unique look from each other vs the more modern metals.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @Svengar I have a big love for those older models as well, not sure if I prefer them or modern, I think I like them both for different reasons.

    • @Svengar
      @Svengar Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MiniatureRealms I think I do love them both equally it is just a different feeling for the older ones because they are long OOP and have more nostalgia partly because they are the first models I ever owned and played with

      @MiniatureRealms  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thank you. Funnily enough it’s an army that I haven’t really worked on before, technically they weren’t around when I was a kid, it’s was just undead back then …old 😅.

    Excellent tutorial. That cape blend looks marvelous. I find that wet-blending the basing paste into the other base textures makes for a nice transition for that base effect as well.
