That 2010-11 barca side is by far the greatest club side ever. A total reference point for the rest of the world. Everyone wanted to play like that. The passing and movement, the tiki Taka. The individual and generational skills of Messi, Xavi, iniesta, Busi etc. and also the fact that the majority of the team was built from the youth academy. Well never see another team like it.
I agree - never seen a team like that before or since. It was peak Spanish national team.....plus the greatest player to have ever lived.
@@joblakelisbonreally was mate. Those LaLiga BBVA days 🕊️
100% said the exact same thing. The fact that so many came through the academy makes it more special indeed. They’re the reference point for all future great sides in my opinion. Best I’ve ever seen.
Because of Pep
Greatest manager of all time
Copy and paste.
That 2011 Barça side is the greatest club side ever. We never got close in that final. They were different class that season. The 5-0 demolition of Real earlier in the season is still the best 90 min performance I’ve ever seen. Absolutely embarrassed them.
What 😅 how many times in row they won the champions League then because real Madrid has won 3 times in row
@@alexandergeorgiev74there’s more than 1 competition…that team didn’t win many league titles
@@GIBBO4182 nothing is more important than the champions League
@@alexandergeorgiev74 best team doesn’t always win the champions league. If it wasn’t for the volcanic ash cloud in 2010 and Barcelona’s 16 hour bus journey to Milan, I’ve no doubt they would’ve won 3 in a row.
@@alexandergeorgiev74 the best team always wins the league…that’s not true about cup competitions
The only time I’ve ever seen Fergie out of ideas…he knew there was nothing they could do against that Barca team
in both finals Ferguson went against his own ideals of attacking and set out to Sam Allardyce his way to frustrating Barcelona. We deservedly got battered in both games as a consequence. Starting with rooney on the left, park on the right and Ronaldo, who at the time was a winger, played as a striker. Absolutely pointless formational shift that made absolutely no impact on Barcelonas ability to attack
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhereutd could have tried anything against that barca team in a final..they would have been beaten..they were on another level..simple as that..
@@aidanjohnburke7629 possibly, but our tactics were outdated. Barcelona didn't go unbeaten that season, so they weren't impossible to beat.
spot on. If Sir Alex had stuck to this usual lineup of Rooney Ronaldo Tevez and Scholes / Carrick controlling in the middle, United would have at least won the 2009 UCL final@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere
They’d destroy this city team too
,, It's not World Class. It's Messi Class, that's above World Class Jerry" - the commentators
As a UTD fan thank u Talksport for getting him on. Enjohed every minute
Messi made Park 4 Lungs look like a fat guy who just made 100m run
The Rome final was the one that deflated me as United were defending CL champions. I knew we had no chance in Wembley and my friends were teasing me ahead of it.
Barca humiliated United..
Messi obliterated them
change your dp
only after the referees helped UEFALONA get to the final LOL (Fraudulent wins in 2009 and 2011)
@@shahzadirani😂😂😂 another bitter soul. The point is about the two finals not semi finals.
2011 final was a like a cat playing with its doomed prey before it kills it . Complete domination and an inevitable winner . Heaviest 2 goal margin victory in a game . Must have felt like 7-0 to those players .
to this day they still believe CR7 is better than the GOAT who literally denied them touching the ball once. Worse than 7 nil, that was a global embarrasment in the biggest final possible
as Fergie said after the game, Xavi and Iniesta "put us on the carousel" with their pass and move
Even after the first 10 mins of the 2009 UCL Final, it was the same
Jim: what was that feeling like at the end?
Rene: fucking joy Jim
Ask BETTER questions.
I bet my mortgage that Rio was bullying some team mate because that first goal.
He’s said before that he and Evra had a disagreement about it
then Rio gets beaten to a header by Messi for the second goal. Embarrassing
if fletcher and hargreaves can play in that 2009 final result would be different
Does everyone forget that in 2009 Barcelona shouldn't have been in the final but fifa made sure the ref got Barcelona in the final instead of Chelsea v Manchester United a repeat of the season before
Yaa fifa don't want utd to win UCL that years that's why they helped barca😂😂
More about getting more views for sponsors. Another all English final with the same teams didn’t bode well to get many eyes watching outside of England
@@jordanking4216 conspiracy theory at its best what a joke
@Raktim709 by conspiracy theory do you mean the fact the ref denied to clear penalty’s and about 3 handballs clear as day? Or was it the conspiracy theory that came out a couple years ago that Barca actually got done for paying refs??? At what point does the “conspiracy” become the truth?
More like how Barca paid the referees
What a great interview
I think an important note to make is they shouldn’t have been in the 09 final, only reason they made it to the final is paying of the referee
Cry more
Chelsea fan spotted
@@GIBBO4182 do u believe I’m wrong though in that statement though? I truly struggle to think of a game where there clearly was a bribed referee
@@samytheman1 doesn’t matter it’s in the past ,but to say they are the best team in history is disingenuous as they bought their way to the final.
@@andreyrunovchik2020 yes
We should have won in Rome, Wembley Barca were the better team by far…
Fergie got schooled by Pep, didn't have a clue what to do.
He beat him in 08
@@joblakelisbonHe never beat Pep in 08 that was Rijkaard
Fergie is a notorious failure when it comes to champions league. Underperformers in europe.
@@joblakelisbon Rijkaard was in charge not Guardiola. Just accept that Guardiola is clear of Fergie then and now
Didn’t even mention Nani’s joke of a red card. I’m convinced they would have won it that year had that not happened
The way Messi and Barca tore them apart was beautiful to watch. That shut this deluded Man Utd fan base up nicely.
My favourite assistant on champ man. Nice to put a face to the name 💪
mine was either Jens Bangsbo or Pat Rice. Or "Patrice" as me and the lads would call him. He took it in good humour. Unlike my chief physio Robert Swires, who's surname we would pronounce like Robert Pires.
SAF gave Barcelona the win when he dropped Tevez and Berbatov on the bench only to start Ronaldo as a 9. He should have play his usual line up front of Rooney Tevez Berbatov and CR7 as his normal traditional winger.
100% agreed
In 09 I still think if we play them again we could beat them United were the better team until that smash and grab by Eto'o then Barca controlled the game in 11 if we play them 10 times more we would still lose every single time...that game was horrific to watch.
that's wishful thinking united were only better in the opening 10min and that is because barca weren't settled yet, once they got a grip they controlled everything till the final whistle. Go and watch the game again as neutral football fan
@@user-qj6dc8iu4s I watched it live I still stand with what I said that weird Messi header killed the game until that point it was anyone's game although Barcelona had majority of the ball plus Fletcher being undeservedly suspended in that semi final game when we absolutely killed Arsenal meant Giggs started in midfield.
As a Barça fan, I remember that 2009 Final vividly. After the first 10 mins, it was all one-way after that---2011 all over again. I think Cristiano managed to get a shot off in those first 10 mins and he became a spectator thereafter along with his cohorts
Let's be honest, that 2011 Man UTD team wasn't the Best Peak Man UTD was 2007-2009 that 2008 team would have had a slight chance against Barca 2011..
yeah by the time of the 2011 final I feel like we'd slipped back into that 90s version of United where we'd win leagues regularly through grit and determination as much as flair or tactical innovation. Fine for domestic trophies but always looked out of our depth against the very best opponents.
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere 08 team won the CL without loosing a single match that's the best English club side ever.
@@yohannesmisikir7056 08 was United at their peak. The best United I've seen in my 33 years. Better than the 99 treble squad. By 2011 though we just looked pretty bog standard in comparison to the elite clubs in Europe. Even that final 2013 van persie side, with a lot of entertainment in it, still looked a bit workmanlike at times.
I don’t why former man utd players keep saying they were even with Barcelona @Rome. It’s a huge lie because after 10mins Barcelona dominated the game.
Because they fooled themselves into thinking they were a better team then them and forget how that game went.
Messi gave Sir Alex Ferguson epilepsy in Wembley
Messi turned alex ferguson into alex tremblsome 😂😂😂
Put penaldo in his place and kept him there ever since 😂😂😂
🤡
God forbid Ferguson beat Pep twice, we wouldn’t hear the end of it however because Pep outcoached and outclassed Ferguson twice, the British try talking about it as little as possible because it takes away from and hurts Fergies legacy!! If not for the Munich miracle where United got obliterated and the John Terry slip, Fergie would have been 0-4 in champions league finals 🥴 every CL final his team of world elite footballers got outplayed n outcoached tbf
Not outplayed in 2008, they were the much better team. In 99 they were missing scholes and keane so of course you're going to struggle missing a midfield like that. And barca, well that's the greatest team of all time so no shame struggling against them
@@johnkent2114 in 2008 the game was even , however the 2009 Barca should not have been in the final as they paid of the ref to get past Chelsea
Please continue to cope and cry in public about British men >>>
@@andreyrunovchik2020 The point is they outplayed united, Man utd was only visible in the first 10min after that it was only Barca
Sometimes I see comments like these and I wonder if people watch football to enjoy it. How can you be this miserable?
Fergie was clueless against Pep and his revolutionary tactics.
@@BFG100Not African, but i don’t see how that would negate anything I said.
Pep had better players simply as that. Just look at the Barcelona lineup for them games, and they trophies them players won. Talking about generational players there
@YeTism The only things that could stop that Barcelona/Pep era in the CL were an act of god in 2010 (volcanic eruption/ash cloud)...and a Chelsea team of warriors desperate to finally lift the trophy.
@@anthonycampbell2151pep have better player because he make those players better. He knows what he wants. Not like Fergie that with his outdated tactics.
@imthecreatorofmyrealitymyf700 please!!! Xavi Iniesta messi, etc, were already la liga and Champion league winners before pep got there. Just stop with the Pep worship
Let’s not forget the doping scandal of that time.
That Spanish judge denied justice to a lot of sportsmen’s by destroying the list of names.
Pep has been done for doping and still uses the guy he blamed, is that true? Barca of that era out ran everyone.
And yet Bayern Munich did couple of times. Real Madrid, Arsenal, Ínter Milano.
United were favourites going into the Wembley game. They skinned us alive.
Should’ve played like Chelsea or Inter to have a chance against that Barca side.
That’s an excuse to blame the loss on Messi. Clearly the Barca midfield won the game. Man Utd had not invested enough in their midfield
ye even Rio etc have deluded themselves into thinking we had a chance of winning the finals were it not for Messi. Barcelona would have strolled both games without him. We couldn't get the ball in midfield, Xavi and Iniesta were enough to win those games. Then you add Eto'o in the first final and Villa in the second and you'd got your winning goalscorers right there. We had no chance in either game, tactics had moved on, we were playing 90s football hoping to shithouse a result against tactical innovation.
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere Haha yeah perfect summary. Man Utd’s football in Fergie’s last 3 years was terrible to watch. We would only get one or two chances a game but usually score them, we were scraping wins. It was only Fergie’s motivation that grinded out results. As soon as he left we saw that it was just an average team
That 2009 and 2011 Barcelona side should NEVER have been in the UCL final in the first place.
2009 - UCL semi final scandal vs Chelsea. Without the help of the refs, they would NOT have a shot at the Treble vs that United side.
2011 - UCL round of 16 scandal vs Arsenal. Wenger had Pep on the ropes of elimination leading 2-3 on aggregate at the Camp Nou with a team of Song, Clichy, Senderos, etc. until the referee decided to give RvP a bullshit red card which gave a huge advantage to Barcelona for the last 30 minutes (playing vs 10 men and main striker RvP being sent off).
Pep is the 🐐 as a MU fan we gotta be real
sadly many people still believe he's a "cheque book manager" and expect him to leave the big leagues and go and "prove himself" by managing STOKE
No United had a better team in Rome that’s the the difference
Park ji sung couldn't get near messi
overrated workhorse. He couldn't even keep Bellamy quiet in the 4-3 Manchester derby. And there's that myth that he kept Pirlo quiet even though Pirlo with zero pace was untroubled by him
am a United supporter; but that Barcelona team was ridiculous
Ferguson said he should have put Park on Messi sooner
Same tactic,Fred on KDB,couldn't stop City
Ferguson can now be without regrets in knowledge had he put Park on Messi sooner,Pep could have still tweaked and won 😂
Comparing fred and park just LOL
There are similarities between Fred and Park. Both headless chickens. Difference is Park played alongside outstanding players a team unit. Fred is not.
To think Park was a headless chicken shows how zero ball knowledge you have!
Park defined an era!
@@RemilekunMichael how so ? What was his strengths that Fred can't do? Both very limited players but have energy and can run around.
Solskjaer tried Fred on Messi at Camp Nou a few years ago and they were 3 nil up before half time. One of the worst 'defensive jobs' I've seen a player attempt on Messi
Ferguson is a good manager overall but he's no tactician of the game. Guardiola is.
only when he has Barcelona behind him..or else he would have devasted the Farmer League(could barely score in there)..no wonder he looked to have Busquets with him at Inter Miami
Go ask your mother for a hug and a shoulder to cry on
That is why Pendu has fake WC look like arab cup trophy and dubai dor compared to wc for Messi with Argentina and 8 Ballon dor..the class in the player and the fans are different here...
@factcheck5767 at the same age, the GOAT was the fastest player to 50 goals in seriaA history while Messi could barely score in the farmer league. I'm glad to see his "class" allows him to score a Lil more in America playing against Dallas
That chelsea match was robbery
Messi emasculated man united on those occasions, some Man U fans never recovered from that. They were humiliated. At Wembley especially it was like men v boys. They made them look like the bums they are
It's true I never truly recovered, still getting counseling to this day. Not sure how I'll ever get over it
@@BFG100 Nowhere near as bad as losing 7-0 to Liverpool earlier this year mate.
