If you already have the steering column tore apart that's the easiest steering box to separate so that you don't have to cut the shaft so later on you can resell it on eBay in case somebody else is looking for one that is little bit less expensive but still functional and original

Whywhywhy?
Don't do all that , just unplug the harness and unscrew the column retainer, and pull the whole tube out, have you seen a Mustang.?
