I saw a Crusaders center back in 2005/ 2006 just as he was tackled look left to find support but there was none there, and just before he hit the ground look right and pass with 2 hands to support runner. I knew then that NZ was taking this game to a whole new level. This is stuff you have to practise. I was coaching kids this style and took a team formed just 2.5 yrs prior and mostly newbies to 3rd in nation in USA. When others were pooh poohing playing touch rugby I was using it to make kids think about passing, space and keeping ball alive rather than take into contact and die with the ball.. England was still in the dark ages.

Because possession is guaranteed to the offense after the tackle (except on 4th down), American football has basically forgotten the possibility of offloading. However, it would actually be efficient, turning 20 yard plays into 60 yard plays.

@@cannibalking The refs didn't pick the forward pass leading to the french try against the All Blacks in the WC semi-final. So???

@@allistaircampbell9282 Pertaining to the Fijian try, before the passes made it onto the left side of the field (birds eye view), you can clearly see the ref in line with the point of attack as he followed the ball. On the next frame when last pass was given, you can clearly see the side line ref running in tandem with ball carrier.
Now, if there was a forward pass, the refs were in a great position to call it! The only reason why they did not call it was that it was not a foward pass. SImple as that! This pass happened close enough that they knew with 100% certainty that it was not a foward pass. So yeah!
In regards to that AB vs FR semi, stuff like that happens to everyone! ;P
