    What she's done so well is to play grass court tennis and her usage of the slice off both sides is what drove both Rybakina and Ostapenko crazy. She will do the same to Jasmine in the final because she will force Jasmine to create her own pace and thus Jasmine, if she's not playing out of her mind, will just like the other two, make more errors than usual. Barbora can hit big and can caress the ball and on grass that is key.

    • @rafarequeni822
      @rafarequeni822 Před 21 dnem +2

      Slice works much better against tall heavy-hitters than against small fast runners. Jasmine may have trouble generating pace, since she's not strong, but low bouncing balls are not a problem for her as they are for Ostapenko, Rybakina or Sabalenka.

    • @JamesHarris-hl2bm
      @JamesHarris-hl2bm Před 21 dnem

      @@rafarequeni822 On grass, a really good slice and/or sidespin works wonders on grass regardless of the height of the opponent. What makes it so effective against anyone is that slice or sidespin not only bounces lower, but bounces back in the direction it came, in the case of underspin, then curls away or if it's sidespin, thus the opponent is forced to not only generate their own pace, but must have effective length on their shots. Worse, given both ladies are right handed, for Jasmine, a sliced backhand from Barbora, with some sidespin as well, will require an extra step forward and to get right for Jasmine, and the complete opposite on her forehand. Remember, Barbora effectively also slices and sidespins the forehand. Few players can do this on that wing. Excellent weapon. Jasmine is lower to the ground, so that helps her, but again, this makes it an interesting balancing act. Grass makes this particularly effective against an opponent. If Barbora is as effective with it as she was in the last two matches, it will cause issues for Jasmine. That does not mean that Jasmine cannot win the match. She may not be baited into as many mistakes. They've played once before, but that was six years ago, so this is a new day. Good luck to both. Given this is the second straight slam final for Jasmine, hopefully she will not be in awe of the moment. Barbora will not. She's the 2021 French Open champion 🏆 so she's been there, done that. She has already won a singles slam and ten doubles/mixed doubles slams so she'll feel right at home. Jasmine will win if she plays the match of her life, which she is certainly capable of, say they both being their absolute best. I believe it's that is the case, it will be a great experience for all of us watching. I hope we have that one coming in that final, as well as the men's final.

    Rybakina has talent but like almost every current player they don't have a 2nd snd 3rd gear they can go to when things get tight. Rybakina was too dependent on her serve and a player like Krejcikova is going to battle. Credit to BK she was the steadier player by far in terms of ground strokes

    • @tennisobserver995
      @tennisobserver995 Před 17 dny

      Rybakina's failing is her lack of a killer instinct. When she realized she was winning the first set quite handily and Krejcikova was at a loss on what to do, she took her foot off the gas and Krejcikova took advantage of that. In the second set, Rybakina was serving abysmally and that's when Krejcikova took the momentum and was able to play her game and take Rybakina out of her rhythm. The same thing happened to her in the Madrid semifinal against Sabalenka. She was trashing Sabalenka in the first set and she relaxed in the second set which proved to be her undoing. Rybakina is unlike Swiatek and Sabalenka who will crush their opponent in the second set when they win the first set easily.

    • @ivandesantis858
      @ivandesantis858 Před 17 dny

      @@tennisobserver995 There's some truth to that but I also saw her forehand just break down and she got erratic with the forehand. She seems to have an aversion to get in a real dogfight slug it out type of match. That's going to have to change

    • @tennisobserver995
      @tennisobserver995 Před 16 dny

      @@ivandesantis858 Actually, in the first set Barbora was targeting Rybakina's forehand because it's the side perceived to break down more easily than the backhand. That didn't work though as Rybakina just kept on hitting winners from that wing while Barbora's forehand kept spraying errors in forehand to forehand rallies. When Rybakina's first serve percentage went down Barbora switched tactics and directed her returns to Rybakina's backhand so it will become a backhand to backhand duel. Krejcikova's backhand is her best weapon because it is very accurate, has a lot of variety and she rarely makes errors from that wing. That was when BK was able to play her game, incorporating more slices and drop shots which took Rybakina out of her rhythm. What Rybakina should have done is to direct BK's backhand rally balls to the center of the court just slightly to the deuce side so BK will be forced to use her forehand which is very erratic. In this match, Rybakina rarely loses forehand to forehand rallies, but BK also wins almost all of the backhand to backhand rallies. The problem for Rybakina was that from the second set onwards there were rarely forehand to forehand exchanges because BK steers Rybakina's second serve with a neutral shot to her backhand so it will become a backhand to backhand exchange. Still, as well as BK was playing, Rybakina could still have won this match were it not for the fact that Krejcikova was serving out-of-this-world during break points which is not really characteristic of her. Rybakina is still the better grass court player and I am quite sure she will be able to beat BK the next time they play on grass. She just had a bad serving day, which could be because she had only one match before Wimbledon due to illness so she lacked stamina and her lack of match fitness caught up with her in that match. From what I saw it takes Barbora's highest level to beat Rybakina on her worst performance at Wimbledon.

Sometimes u defeat urself unknowingly , unwillingly, just caught up in your own turmoil. And then the Stamina Factor starts to kick in, ,,,along with the tedious injuries here and there,,, and your mental takes a hard kickback,, and find yourself drowning in your own atmospheric pressure . Where's the release gauge?? To ease the pressure buildup?? Good Match!!

      W tym sezonie rywalizacja między paniami wygląda dużo lepiej ze strony Polki. Były dwa spotkania, oba zakończone w trzech setach, a nie w łatwych dwóch. Spotkanie w Stuttgarcie było średnie z obu stron, ani Ryba ani Iga nie zagrały jakoś super, tylko Ryba ratowała się w najważniejszych momentach serwisem. Za to finał w Doha to było rewelacyjne spotkanie a pierwszy 90 minutowy set to jeden z najlepszych setów Igi w tym sezonie. Początek zapowiadał dominację Igi przez Rybę, taką jak w poprzednim sezonie, ale Rybakina wybiła się z rytmu, gdy uderzyła się rakietą. Ale też dużo Iga zrobiła żeby wygrać (zwłaszcza pamiętam te akcje, gdy broniła piłek których nie da się obronić, tak mocne returnowała, te wymiany wyglądały jakby to faceci grali), co zasługą jest Wiktorowskiego, który doradził jak ma inaczej grac np dużo przy siatce co pomogło, za co zresztą mu się ukłoniła po meczu. A potem powiedziała w wywiadzie że to były podziękowania za to, że trener zmusza ją na treningach do grania przy siatce czego nienawidzi .Wiele ważnych punktów wygrała grą przy siatce, pamiętam jeden z momentów gdy uśmiechnęła się do sztabu po zdobyciu punktu czy piłkę meczową.
      No i jeszcze były dwa mecze a dokładnie 1 set i supertiebreak na pokazówce w Abu Zabi w grudniu. Seta/Mecz wygrała Iga, ale był remis w rywalizacji z przeciwnikiem, wiec musiały jeszcze tiebreaka zagrać, którego Iga przegrała różnicą dwóch punktów. Oczywiście to pokazówka, niby się nie licz,y ale obie zagrały bardzo na serio, nie odpuszczały. Set i tiebreak to było dużo lepsze spotkanie Igi z Rybą od tego meczu w Stuttgarcie. Więc jest dużo lepiej, to są bardziej wyrównane mecze. No i ta tak szczerze jak ma Iga po swojej stronie Rybakinie to już nie rwę sobie siwych włosów z głowy, tylko przyjmuję ze spokojem, bo wiem, że może wygrać jedna albo druga, a nie będzie lania Polki. Patrzę na tą rywalizację tak jak na rywalizację z Sabą, na chłodno i bez emocji (chyba że zagra Iga z nią na AO, gdzie są najszybsze korty to tutaj bym się obawiał, czy byłaby to wyrównana walka).
      A co do Rybakiny to dzisiejszy mecz potwierdził to co o Rybie myślę od kilku miesięcy, że to jest kobiecy odpowiednik naszego Hurkacza. Ma najlepszy serwis pierwszy, tak jak Hurkacz, ale jak się zatnie to każdy może ją pokonać (inna sprawa to choroby i alergie, które często łapie, w tym sezonie odnoszę wrażenie że więcej się wycofuje niż gra, podobnie było w poprzednim sezonie).
      A zaznaczam, że ją lubię, ten jej lodowaty charakter, nazywana jest królową lodu, ale wolę określenie jakie wymyślił w czasie jednej z transmisji jej meczów Cam Williams (popularny youtuber, miłośnik tenisa), że ona się porusza trochę jak terminator grany przez Patricka w Terminatorze 2. No i coś w tym jest, więc wolę określenie terminatorka:)

      @MichalOstrowski-yg1ke Před 21 dnem

      Ten jej chłodny charakter to tak na dwoje babka wróżyła, może być zaletą ale i wadą. Mnie u niej brakuje czasem takiej woli walki, gra sobie ten swój tenis i jak idzie to super, ale jak nie idzie to trudno i dalej sobie gra. Brak takiej chęci zmienienia sytuacji jest za to taka jakby akceptacja: to dziś za mało na rywalkę, no trudno to dogram do końca i cześć. Często mam takie wrażenie.

    I posted after the Collins match that when she plays like that I think she is the #2 grass court player in the world and Rybakina was #1. She has a perfect grass court game. Huge serve, big forehand with shape that can also create angles, and a ton of variety with specifically the slice. Everyone dismissed her vs Penko and I said Penko struggles with big servers who have big groundstrokes. Sure enough she just had 3 receiving points that entire first set. People forgot how good Barbora can serve. I thought she would likely lose here although I thought she had the best shot of everyone remaining. Rybakina was all over the serve 1st set. Looked like a clear blowout. But Barbora hit her spots much better in the 2nd and 3rd and effectively chipped back in returns all day. Elena also probably didn't have her best serving day to help her, but first time I've seen Rybakina run over someone this bad 1st set and end up losing in a big match. All the diff looks Barbora threw at her eventually got her out of a rhythm. Love Paolini, but Barbora is the favorite on Saturday because of the serving adv and variety
