Nuclear War Simulator- Russia Nuclear Attack on the United Kingdom

  • Using the Nuclear War Simulator this models a Russian Nuclear Attack on the United Kingdom which was a request from a comment on one of my previous videos. I ran this twice, once with Russia expending 30% of its nuclear arsenal and a second time expending 100% of their arsenal.
    These are not meant to represent a realistic attack. I would go as far to say there is no realistic attack when it comes to nuclear weapons as the effect would be devastating far beyond the nations involved. Certainly even if unfortunate events transpired that the threshold was crossed there is not likely to ever be a scenario that Russia would target the UK with such a high percentage of its deployed warheads with 30% being the very upper limits. During the early to mid 80s when stockpiles were at their highest and warhead yields tended to be larger (over time the accuracy has increased and yield has decreased at counter value strategies moved towards counter force) these may have represented something closer to what could have happened under worst case scenarios.

    Anti-missile defences can be overwhelmed by fake warheads: MIRVs may have 2-4 warheads with anywhere up to 10 decoys. It is much easier to overwhelm a defence network with decoys than to counter and destroy incoming warheads.

    • @MagnusDivision

      That is true for any current systems. That's why it is odd Russia made the 2018 video talking about weapons that could defeat the US ABM systems, they already have had that ability through their current stockpile.

    • @hydra70
      @hydra70 Před rokem +2

      @@MagnusDivision It's a hedge against future development. They know that current ABM systems can't do anything against a full scale attack, but they are worried that in 30 years they might. The US is pushing hard on ABM tech right now, so it makes sense that US adversaries are looking for tech to counter it. Hence all the hype over hypersonics.

    I’m from Northwest England and looking at the video my house took a direct hit. Which isn’t surprising as we have a nuclear power station within 6 miles and 20 miles away across the water we have Barrow in Furness where they make all of the nuclear submarines. We have quite a few legitimate targets near us such as the place where they make all the Euro fighters, and also the place where they communicate with all of us submarine fleet. I’ve always known that we would be a target here, but to see it in the flesh like this is quite harrowing

  • @sulyokpeter3941
    @sulyokpeter3941 Před rokem +3

    Fair stuff, but I think in a nuclear exchange the 1st targets which will receive hits would me major cities and army bases. Multiple warheads. Mixed in air blast and ground blast to maximize the destruction. UK and USA have a ballistic missile early warning systems for example the one in UK is called RAF Fylingdales. That site basically for this purpose. So if the UK can give a warning to their citizens to seek shelter and they will, because UK have an emergency system which will basically change all the radio stations and TV channels to the BBC Emergency broadcast even smartphones will receive such a text messages nationwide. Which is nice to have and very handy. But it depends how fast these broadcast go through in the nation. If you have 4 minutes to seek shelter you can just pray that you will survive the blast. Then it is all about on you how fast you are if you are not injured that much. If it will be 10 minutes basically you have more time. But all you need is to survive the first seconds of the blast. The huge flashlight, the heatwave and the shockwave. If you managed to survive it you need to find a shelter(You have around 10-15 minutes to do so after the blast) if you already in a shelter you need to stay inside for the nuclear fallout. At least 72 hours but ideal is 7 days basically a week. Given a 10 minutes to time to hide is like... Yeah. Not ideal, unsless you are already inside and you are far away enough from the nuclear strike location. But even if you are inside a shelter and you survive the blast the fallout is deadly. You need to prepare the area. Shiled yourself from the radiaton, seal any windows and any holes from the radiactive dust. It is very very complicated. Not easy to do so + you need to get water. Without water you not going to survive long. Without food you will be fine long enough just stay inside until the radiation gone(A week or so). But without clear water? You not going to survive a week. There is "good news" about the nuclear fallout btw. Most of the radation will go away quick. It will half in the first 24 hours and after 3 days you can kind of go and explore but you need equipment. This is why it is wise to stay a week in the shelter. After a week there should be no harmfull radiation unless you go close to the detonation zone or go nearby it. If you survived for such a long time(1 week) and you does not have radioctive sickness or any symptoms, you are kind of fine. You managed to survive it.

      There is some great info in your post.

    • @MagnusDivision
      @MagnusDivision  Před rokem +2

      As far as targeting, it will depend on what the goal is. Maximum destruction is one option and as you pointed out it would involve a mix of air and ground burst and targeting of population, industrial, and military locations.
      There is also a strategy around limiting strikes to military (counter force) strikes. The move towards smaller warhead yields with greater accuracy could lead people to believe that is a viable objective.
      Even a strictly counter force strike would involve extremely high casualties.

    • @sulyokpeter3941
      @sulyokpeter3941 Před rokem +1

      @@MagnusDivision Yeah... In a nuclear exchange no one going to win. It will destroy our planet basically. Especially if we take into account that UK is a NATO country. So as soon as someone attacking a NATO country it means attack on the whole NATO such as USA. And if USA going to use NUKES on the attacker? Well, the whole Earth will be destroyed in matter of days if not in hours... Few of us going to survive the first weeks. And then there is an another problem to face. Nuclear Winter.

      Thank you and that is a great question regarding their rocket forces readiness. Historically more money has been placed in their upkeep but corruption is so rife it is hard to say.
      The 2018 wonder weapons announcement by Putin was shocking because he showed a great concern towards defeating our Ground Based Midcourse Interceptors, which is odd because the system is not capable of defeating a Russian nuclear attack and the weapons he announced didn't really offer any capabilities they didn't already possess. That is unless their current systems were is a far worse readiness state than we believe.

    When you factor in the other huge targets the Russians have to hit in an all out nuclear war, here’s how I’m guessing the amount used on Great Britain would be.
    Russia would need to use far more Nukes against the US alone,
    then you also have to think about how many nukes the Russians would have to use or even keep in reserve in the face of a very angry United Europe.
    US (and US military) takes 40% of incoming nukes
    EU would receive 40% (likely more),
    5% at least would probably be kept in reserve (or be shot down, malfunction or fail to launch etc etc.)
    In an absolute worst case scenario Britain and Northern Ireland would be hit with approximately 15% or less than half of the video’s attack.
    This leaves around 45 million of us Brits left to give the Russians hell. the Black Death was worse than that.
    Our entire economy would be absolutely disintegrated like the rest of the world so we’d have it pretty rough.
    But I reckon we’d be in Moscow for tea when Vladdy looks through the binoculars and spots the Germans and Poles becoming very… VERY angry (plus yknow, America and Europe)
