- Explore the possibility of surviving a nuclear explosion and dig into a scientifically supported plan of action in case of a detonation.
--
Nuclear weapons are some of the most powerful tools of destruction on Earth, and the full scope of a nuclear detonation is almost unimaginable. However, there is a scientifically supported plan of action that could save thousands of lives. What is this plan, and what exactly would it protect us from? Brooke Buddemeier and Jessica S. Wieder explore the possibility of surviving nuclear detonation.

@@ametsunami4070 Nah, it isn't real (theoretically). I just knew that phrase from fallout (kinda). But in a real life scenario, if the heat or the shock wave doesn't kill you, the radiation probably will if you were that close to an atom bomb. But it really depends on the bomb tho

Can we survive a nuclear fallout? Taking the right precautions sure we could. But as once said by Vsauce3 the real question is *would we want to* survive a nuclear fallout.
*WHERE'S FALLOUT 5, BATHESDA*

You're right..we would probably envy the dead if we do survive. Nuclear winter sounds terrifying. Not to mention the overwhelmed and understaffed hospitals, the famine, and the destruction everywhere around us...
Unless you're in the direct hit zone, that kind of death would not be pleasant so be prepared if at all possible.
Everything mentioned in this video happened to so many innocent people all over the Pacific. French Polynesia, Christmas Island, Marshall Islands, Australia... Did you know the U.S conducted 67 nuclear test in the Marshall Islands, just 1 of them called castle bravo was 1000 stronger then the ones dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, that is equivalent to dropping 1 Hiroshima bomb everyday for 12 years. All I ask is that no one else has to go through what we went through, we are living proof of human destruction.
@@thelvadam8916 Did you also know that bikini bottom in Spongebob and bikini the swim suit wear are both named after one of the islands where US conducted nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands.

additionnal tips :
- store your cell phones in the microwave oven (or in aluminum foil) in case of a nuclear alert, this will protect them from the electro-magnetic pulse during the detonation of the bomb.
- close every door, window shutter and windows
- seal doors, windows, air vents with a humid cloth to prevent dust from entering your house/room.
- make a stock of drinking water in forecasts for several isolated days or even several weeks. (if you don't have bottles of water and the city water is drinkable, fill your bathtub with water before the explosion)
- if you are safe in your home, if you have plenty of water and food, stay inside as long as you can, until instructed otherwise by the authorities. (even without food, you can survive a long time with only water to drink)
*Can you survive in a basement , would that be stable enough* ???????????
*Don't forget to Cover your vents to your dryer , on top of your home .
Don't forget to turn the electronics off too.
If there is an explosion I will just enter my fridge and wait until the blast throws me away from the fallout area.. I've seen it in an Indiana Jones movie and I think it could work
haha! obviously not!
That's not a bad idea unless you run out of air and die inside the refrigerator.....

We'll probably kill each other. I mean that's what humans have been doing for the past millions of years, am I right?
Look up how they handled Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I mean, we have two good examples right there.
No one really knows? What about the Japanese? You should learn some history.
Miranda did you know that although the bombs dropped on Japan are to this day the only ones used in a time of war, they were without a doubt some of the smallest with every new design thousands of times more destructive than the next. So we truly don’t have a idea of what it may be like if modern atomic weapons would be used today. Maybe it should be you who should learn some history.
This was an excellent way to illustrate this life-saving knowledge. Thank y'all for making this!
The CZcams algorithm knows something I don’t know..
Oop- Not me preparing by watching these types of videos. 2022, stay safe y'all 💀
Probably a good time to watch these videos because there’s no hope for anyone considering Putin has moved his family into a bunker
So we know this information after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings just after WWII. American researchers learned most Japanese who survived the bombing with little or no side effects were indoors and stayed indoors afterwards. This prompted the "duck and cover" protocols during the Cold War. If you weren't vaporized stay indoors to keep away from the effects of fallout.
Really anxious about why the algorithm thought I needed to see this today
The sound design in this episode is incredible!!!

Nice to have this video considering the times
Decimate means “to destroy or remove 10% of something”. It was used as a form of punishment by ancient armies. Often used to quash any attempts at rebellion. They would decimate their own army to punish the entire group. 10% of them would be executed.
This video was mind expanding and terrifying all at the same time. Thanks Ted-Ed
