No. Nuclear explosions only create a damaging EMP if they are detonated above the atmosphere.
If they explode on the ground or in the air, to destroy cities etc, they do not generate such an EMP.

It's quite something to see those dozens of warheads all impacting within 50 miles of eachother. I can only assume that those are ICBM silos, and I can't imagine how irradiated those areas must be.

Hi, can you also make a mode which makes yourself a leader of a neutral country like Switzerland trapped in an all out nuclear attack of NATO and CSTO or other nuclear powers? The goal here is to survive before, during and after nuclear attack by rationing, building nuclear shelters, etc. There are three phases to this mode:
Preparation - in this phase, you need to make as many nuclear shelters as possible by a countdown to Defcon 5 to 1.
Attack - here, you just need to survive the attack as long as possible.
Fallout - you and your chosen country needs to survive as long as possible. If you successfully rebuilt your infrastructure and removed the radiation in your country, you win.
Oh wow Andre, thank you so much for the ideas!!!! I really appreciate that you take the time to share them with me repeatedly. Yes, I am playing with the idea to implement something like what you are describing: some survival management game elements. However, I don't believe in shelters. Even at the height of the cold war, the idea of building centralized shelters was recognized as too expensive. People will more likely rely on their basements for shelter.

of course, 2/3 of humans would stil survive, mostly on the southern hemisphere... USA, Europe and Russia would be toxic wasteland for centuries though

Idk if anyone else is paying attention to the crafts that have been flying to nuclear facilities whether they be storage type or the sylos that launch them, but those craft have somehow disarmed the warheads without even physically touching them!! Not only that, but they have been going to every single place and to every single warhead in every single country which has them!! To my understanding, news of this is not being released for the simple fact that it could make someplace seem vulnerable, obviously. It would seem to be ridiculous tho because it is going on in every single country which makes everyone vulnerable!! Anyway, has anyone else seen reports of this as well?? Although governments are desperately trying to hide it, news of it is still getting out there quite a bit

Thank you for your suggestions! I don't know if this is the direction I want to go to. Making a good political simulation with a decent AI is really hard.

Cuz' without the politics stuff, you cant sign non agression pacts, alliances or increase industrial power to make nukes, have desisions to deal with the aftermath of the nuclear war and so much more! Even just a mediocre AI in the politics part is incredible! In short,
The game is missing a LOT without the politics.
But if you cant, i understand.

Sure! EMP is something I will add at one point. Nuclear reactors, maybe, the models are very different from local fallout and more computationally intensive.
The next update is probably next week, but no guarantees ;)

I think in the first wave of nuclear attack all countries that have a silo system will have a little trouble attacking back because the main target is the silo and military bases, the world at that time mostly started from electricity, communication systems and
infrastructure will be paralyzed. so the winner is determined at the time of the first wave of nuclear attacks, the missiles that are launched are many that are right on target and effective so that the enemy does not have enough time to strike back and is more profitable for a country that has many missile launch systems outside the silos such as submarines, missile launch trucks and strategic bombers
Missiles take about 30 minutes from launch to impact. The enemy would launch their counter attack just minutes after the launch of the first strike. Modern ICBMs are designed to be launch able at a moments notice. All the missiles from all sides will be in the air long before the first warhead hits.

the weather is from real data. there are databases with very detailed global weather data www.ready.noaa.gov/archives.php

Just got the game. Everything is working fine, but the casualties won't calculate. Is there any way to fix it?
It happens sometimes on older hardware. If you are running it on a notebook, you can try to right-click and execute on the high-performance graphics card. Otherwise try executing NWS_OpenGL43.bat or NWS_OpenGL.bat

Not right now, no. It's still a distinct possibility if there is another major development in this area that one side (not necessarily the US or Russia) has not yet thought of yet. There was distinct fear about the Strategic Defense Initiative because it broke up the idea of mutually assured destruction, thankfully there was something of a lull in tension between the US and the USSR at that time (though, not completely gone, of course).
amazing, but could you add the big booms and some after effects of the nuclear strike?
The explosions have the correct sizea and there's a shockwave, smoke, fallout and city fires in game. But it's too zoomed out to see in this video.

most systems are out dated or already do not have every good kill ratios also we don't have large numbers of these systems..... soooo yea pray to god
in case of massive nuclear exchange those systems can't do much really
America has 60 interceptor rockets in use today. Those have a failure rate of 50% in easy test scenarios. If you're lucky they'll stop 10 ICBMs. Hundreds to thousands of nuclear bombs can still hit their target.
The idea that there is missile defense that makes the ICBMs old and useless is a complete misunderstanding.
upside is nuclear winter will stop global warming, so net net , nuclear war might be a win. hah...Co2 kills me every time.

I know it only a game but in reality, the way things are with Russia, if any country that supports Ukraine with weapons, putin will press the red button, then we are all gone, this is what scares me so much,.

@@KrustyKlown Not necessarily. We will suffer a lot of nuclear fallout, but it's unlikely that the majority of it will be covered. There will be a large population reduction, but most of it will be untouched by a nuclear bomb, only the fallout. Where I currently live has been called one of the safest places to live in the event of a nuclear exchange. In my country, only a couple cities (at most) might actually be targeted. There's no point attacking New Zealand or detonating a nuclear bomb anywhere in Polynesia. I can't say I know much about South America or the south of Africa, but it's unlikely they will be major targets either.

Worse Bull S… simulation ever
Ukraine destroys about 90% from Russias missiles, so first strike would be not so successful against west. Some missiles may come through but they are mostly shot down. When take note what kind of condition Russian warfare was in Ukraine, its nukes that was never meant to be used unlike their traditional warfare, they are most likely very bad condition. Couple of years ago they even accidentally nuked themself in Arkangel. Probably caused by nuke that was just too bad condition.
