    Fun detail: the first scenes are supposed to take place in Paris. It was obviously not shot in location, but you can see two cars with red French licence plates in the background of some scenes (@8:07 and @8:39).
    The format of the plates is correct : 1234 AB 56 (or 1234 ABC 56 for cars registered in Paris.)
    However, regular French plates were not red at the time, but black. So, why red plates? Red plates are temporary plates for vehicles bought in France but destined to be exported to another country.
    Basically, they wanted the outdoor scenes to look French, and found people who had bought their cars in France and still had their French licence plates. Except the plates were not black, regular ones but red, "for export only" plates that you rarely see in France.

    Also, ol girl's "sniper rifle" is a .22 LR survival rifle. If u got shot anywhere besides the brain or the heart ur chances of living would be EXTREMELY high. Those rifles are for breaking down into pieces and being put in a bug out survival backpack and then used for shooting small game to survive in the wilderness. It would be EXTREMELY hard to hit a moving target, on water, from that distance, and without a scope. Her fatal shot literally would've been a one and a million, that's for sure. Oh and ur correct Brian, the last thing u ever wanna do is load ur weapon as ammunition is what makes any firearm deadly, the less u handle a loaded weapon the less dangerous it will always be. Cheers guys

    terrifying as it may seem there were pacemaker powered by plutonium-238 batteries using pretty much the same theory as the RTG from the Martian and yes there are still people walking around with them. They over came the problem that around every 7 to 10 years people had to have surgery to replace the batteries in their pacemaker.

      Camera lenses produced up to the 1980s were also radioactive, which I assume is what the reference to the camera was. Neither have enough radiation that it could be detected by a wrist based Geiger counter from several meters away, let alone the missile at the end.

    • @markiangooley
      @markiangooley Před rokem +1

      @@michaelbodalski the camera lenses are thoriated glass, which contains up to 30% thorium dioxide for an especially high refractive index. The glass tends to go brownish with age and nowadays lanthanum oxide is used instead to avoid that and of course the (relatively low but real) radioactivity. Plutonium 238 is way more radioactive; natural thorium is all radioactive but is almost all thorium 232, with a half-life of millions of years.
      Thorium metal has been used in alloys for experimental aircraft. But, again, phased out.

    • @michaelbodalski
      @michaelbodalski Před rokem +1

      @@markiangooley Yeah, I was just pointing out that there was "some truth" behind the scene. As someone who grew up in the 80s I knew both of those things in a sort of arms-length way so I assume it was general enough knowledge that anyone watching the film at the time would have understood what was going on.
      I'm not surprised at all that someone watching it today would have no idea what the hell was happening in that scene.

It also have the same premise of a private crime fighting agency who solves crime in also a popular tourist spot. There was no nudity or sex scenes but plenty of scantily clad people and really scandalously sized bikinis. I am pretty sure they got the idea for that show from these movies

    so, i first discovered the Andy Sidaris series (sometimes called Triple Bs, sometimes called the Ladies from L.E.A.T.H.A.L.) many years ago in a 12 pack of dvds for like $6. i really grooved on how they knew exactly what they were, low budget, direct-to-video action movies with gratuitous skin elements. and in watching all 12 (including the connected films directed by Andy Sidaris's son) seeing the weird repeated elements.
    the use of remote controlled airplanes and cars will continue throughout the series.
    the Abilene Brothers. the first movie, Malibu Express, the hero was Cody Abilene, a smooth talkin' Texan ladies man who couldn't shoot worth a damn. the actor didn't want to return for Hard Ticket to Hawaii, so they said Cody left the Agency, became an actor and stared in the in-universe Malibu Express movie, and the role was filled by Rowdy Abilene, a smooth talkin' Texan ladies man who couldn't shoot worth a damn. the actor didn't want to return for Picasso Trigger, so they recast a new actor as Travis Abilene, a smooth talkin' Texan ladies man who couldn't shoot worth a damn. the actor didn't want to return for Savage Beach, so they recast a new actor as Shane Abilene, a smooth talkin' Texan ladies man who couldn't shoot worth a damn. I think in one of the movies Taryn say "how many Abilene brothers are there?"Shane stuck around as a glorified background extra for the rest of the Donna movies.
    the cherubicaly cute Hope Marie Carlton played Taryn, who was in witness protection for HTtH through to Savage Beach. in Guns, Donna's witness protection sidekick is suddenly Nikki, played by Roberta Vasquez, the same actress who played villainess Pantera here in Picasso Trigger. (this is not commented on)
    Rodrigo Oberon, who played Ortiz here, and his brother in HTtH, would be in almost every one of these films playing a villain, sometimes the brother of a previous villain, sometimes unrelated. Later in the SIdaris series 80s action moves staples Al Leong (from Die Hard and many others) and Gerald Okamura (from Samurai Cop and many others) will show up playing various roles (in one he is an Elvis impersonator)
    a recurring mastermind villain is introduced at one point played by Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid). Later appearances of this villain he is recast by Geoffrey Moore (son of 007 actor Roger Moore). why and how he has changed from an old japanese man to an 30 something caucasian british man is not mentioned.
    the later Sidaris movies feature more prominently B-movie queen Julie Strain (and cameo appearance by her then husband, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman). with Julie Strain their are increasing amounts of surgically enhancements in the female cast, whereas in the early films the ladies are all natural.
    Wow! i know more about these movies than i realized. and i didn't even mention Erik Estrada who shows up in a few. having seen these, Hard Ticket to Hawaii is the best. the ones that stand out to me after that are ripe for reviewing on GBoBB are Savage Beach, and Day of the Warrior. both those are wacky and wild.
