Here's the animatronic mouth mechanism I showcased in my recent video. In this video I talk briefly about the development of the mechanism, programming and artistic elements, and I'm going to be taking you through how to build one yourself!

The robots will definitely use this, when it's time...
Hint hint FNAF

...
i sure hope they do 🤪🤪🤪
it is just me but the moment i watched this video, i started making weird movements with my own mouth.
Its just you...
Yep it's just you
it's just you!
probably not
I find I do similar watching linguistics videos
I really wish you would incorporate this into an animal face or something! It's already so expressive, I can only imagine how good it would look as part of a completed animatronic character! 😃
This man is almost halfways into making an Ai lifeform. Eyes, mouth, hands heart. Won't be long now people, won't be long.
Oh yes I agree

Great high quality projects, thats why I subscribed to your channel.
Keep up the awesome work Will.
its amazing what people can do with 3d printers and some electronics...but this sir is kinda like art. It makes you appreciate how well made your creations are and our own anatomy.. Great job and keep inspiring people like me!
As always, entirely inspirational Will. Keep up the great work.
Love your stuff. This and the animatronic eyes you did a while ago go hand to hand.
Those teeth! Great job man.Currently i've been working on the "Inmoov" project build and been having a blast with that, but at some point (when the world is more normal again and earier to get ahold of supplies. XD) I would love to try out a few of the things I've seen in your vids.
Keep up the great work man.
Good job bro, I appreciate your hard work. In my view, you are one kind of genius. God bless you, forever.
Awesome! Kind of exactly what i was looking for, just hoping i'll be able to make it fit underneath my eye linkages and lids, apperantly those are way closer to the mouth then i ever imagined.
Nice approach and great finial result ! Thank you for sharing with us .
Wow . Amazing work!!!
This is amazingly cool!
Very Nice Will !
Well done, impressive development
wow amazing job you have been done. i appreciate for your sharing
Great work!
Now what would the bite of ‘87 look like if the animatronics had this jaw instead of square teeth…
Well done!
Looking forward to your next videos
this is begging to get some silicons kin put on it
Great job mate...you made reference to the TH sound and the position of the tongue....You said that the "TH" sound needs to position of the tongue to be at the front of the bottom teeth? But the TH sound comes from the tongue being raised and placed on the top front teeth? Love your work.....
Nice job!!
Neat project. If you're still interested in updating the software to be able to control it more easily, you could try using the SpeechRecognition Python library combined with Google's Speech-to-Text API to feed your original program inputs, potentially in real time, assuming you have a corpus of word-phonemelist pairs large enough to cover what all you're saying, such as the Carnegie Mellon University Pronouncing Dictionary.
Well done. If I can get back to mine, I'm working similar, but from non-ferrous metals.
I like what you're building! May I'll start working on printing out something like this.
What did you make the tongue from? It is one of the flexible filaments, or did you pour out silicone into a casting mold? all it needs is bendability controlled by a motor so a wider array of phonemes can be produced... oh man, that would be really cool!
Great work. On the software side, I use the Mycroft AI, with its text-to-speech engines. They originally created visemes to output a series of 8 mouth shapes to match various sounds. These were sent to an arduino for display on a small screen in their Mark I AI enclosure. I pick off the visemes and pass them to an arduino connected to three simple servos in a Teddy Ruxpin. My mechanics aren’t as sophisticated as yours, but it should scale up. The real limitation would be that they only created 8 mouth shapes. Still, it might be worth looking into.
Are you a technology enthusiast? I have a project to discuss. Reply me if you are interested
Youre awesome guy bro thank you
For your next you should make an moving animatronic
Amazing electric
FANTASTIC
Also really cool design your an isperation to us all
Yorkshire lad? love your work, looking to start making puppets for a film ...
excellent videos!
Any chance you would be willing to sell a set of 3d printed parts for the compact eyes?
An "Alien" (From the... "Alien" and "Aliens" movies) face/mouth would work well and not require a cover
I'm making a Social Bot and using a cosplay mask for the face. Your video gave me some ideas on how to go about designing it.
BEST video ! tuto soon ?
How close did you get with the audio to speech side of things? Any suggestions on where to start?
I think that maybe you should use your eye mechanism and mouth mechanism to make a face, and then make a Blender add on to turn the bone/armature animations to the animatronic animation. It won't work for anything live, but it could be made to look much better than anything automatic
Are you going to make multiple mouths like the the eyes
I like it.......man
It's great
I need this, but crafted with silicone and molded after Riley Reid's mouth.
Dude...😏😂 I believe he could do it though with great precision.😉
uhm dad....
Gosh so cool. Wish I was your brother and I could watch you work and annoy you with a million questions haha
Is using FaceRig possible or is that too closed source?
Which methods needs the fewest amount of servos? This one here four, the other one two? But yours is easier to build, right?
Where can i learn animatronics, is there any course available online ?, Or any book
You should make lips with a rubber elastic
A yes, the letter uh and the letter euh :)
Great video
Thats original, bravo ...
Can't wait till you put them all together in a robotic head of a real person sculpt.. I can help you in designing the 3d model of a real person's face/head ..
Is so Epic
So cool!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh cool💙💚💛🧡💜
'mechanism for the tongue'....NOW we're talking!
Hey, I just started printing your design...and I was wondering which software are you using to extract the phonemes? I found Deep Throat, and would give it a try...or would you recommend a different Python software? pypi.org/project/deep_throat/
Just realized the Python script comes with the printfiles... :D
Would have been nice if you posted your references in the video description, really nice stuff nevertheless.
Ah I forgot to add those, I've updated the description.
Don't worry about the youtube treadmill and whatnot. You don't have some mandatory schedual
Question, if someone had the money, would you make something like this for them?
yes
The furries are gonna love this one
Funny you say that, I am currently designing a mouth for a fursuit
If those teeth had red stains I would actually believe that FNAF 4 became real and animatronics are outside my door waiting to kill me
The bite of 87
Is that your frontal lobe on the ground HOLY SHIT
Id use the same engine as the eyes
How about some AI? AI is extremely good for interpretation from one sound to another. And it could predict future sounds and move accordingly. You could also write that in code too, just as an idea. If you say "open" and "pen" they have different motions even though they both end in "pen" the p is more exaggerated.
Not every device needs an AI. Often you need a smart program behind it. Most of the people nowadays don't realize that.
Was that the bite of 87?!
Buy it, use it, break it, fix it
You're the one
.
Someday Siri will integrate this technology.
Mabye this was already your plan but you should buy a 3d printer and then print flexible skin for it. Would probably look awesome!
Can you give out 3d files for dis
The frontal lobe will enjoy this one
when you work on the future and build robots
just to return to monke
are you creating the Bite of 87 ?
No I'm AM so in 2027 look out....
El valle inquietante 😬
Dude plz make animatronic
The man beh......
And now combine animatronic mouth whot your animatronic eye :D

That's not how you make the TH-sound...
