Step up is the new “classic” look to me. My wife uses the Saddlemen Explorer seat which is pretty nice for longer hauls but doesn’t look the best. Good video man!!!

The Saddlemen Step Up is popular because it works! I put one on my '93 Sporty when I bought it new. It was a comfortable enough seat for the driver but my old lady just doesn't like to "ride in back" no matter what seat is back there. So, I put the stock solo seat back on with a luggage rack on the rear fender 'cause I don't like sissy bars. Comfortable enough for me! I use low-rise drag bars so I lean forward a bit. Keeps weight off the tailbone.

I feel it is the best looking and quality seat on the market. I could not agree with you more, I have the exact same feelings about the seat as you. That break in period was rough and questioned my decision for sure. Once I put a fairing on mine I can go about 2 hours till tailbone starts to hurt now. Thanks for sharing!!

My bike came with a Saddlemen Explorer. Doesn't look nearly as cool as the Step Up, but that butt-shelf keeps you planted under acceleration. Since I thought the Explorer looked goofy, and since I never have a passenger, I wanted to try a solo seat, so I got a Mustang Wide Touring Solo Seat. While the Mustang is comfortable to just sit on at a stop, I felt like I was slipping off at even modest acceleration, and I only have an 883! My arms hurt after 30 minutes from death gripping to stop falling off. I went back to the Saddlemen seat immediately.
My rides tend to be 3+ hours round trip, often without getting off of the bike. My ass and legs get a little sore once I hit 2.5 hours, but I'm generally OK. I'm sure as hell not doing any wheelies on my little 883, but this seat keeps you planted. GREAT seat.

  • @themotorcycleshowcase6492

Bought the Saddlemen Renegade LS Solo for the dyna at the beginning of 2020. My ass immediately thanked me after the first ride. It actually takes the pressure off my tailbone and I can ride longer than I could on the stock seat. And as you said the construction is top notch.
Keep up the good work dude!

I've had mine about 6 months now (2 month wait to get it, but I knew it going in)
The seat is a real game changer. Planted! Is how I answer questions I get about how it feels. I mean... no movement and I can feel like I'm in the bike, not on it. I can easily spend all day in the saddle and days in a row are easy. It took me all of 3 rides to get used to it and that's after about a decade of riding the giant Ultras and limiteds one even with the Harley Hammock seat. Those were all for 2 up...I don't have that 2nd partner
/passenger anymore so I am thrilled to be on a 1200 with the step up seat.
The bike is light, nimble, and with the Saddlemen Step up seat... it feels like the whole thing is just a part of me.

The peg mounts, pegs, seat and installation of pegs ran me a little over a $1000. I can use a wrench but when it mentioned removing exhaust etc for mounts I didn’t chance it so had it done on my 1 st service of bike. The seat, sissy bar and luggage rack I installed myself. If you ever see me, you will see a Saddlemen Step Up on my Street Bob limited. It had a beautiful Corbin pure leather lock on solo seat with a back rest on it when I bought it. First 30 mile trip I took on it like to have killed me. I couldn’t enjoy the ride for the whole time, all I could think about was my hurting butt. I didn’t know much about Saddlemen but I figured it couldn’t be any worse that the $800 Corbin solo. I ordered the Step up with the roll and tuck, and total including shipping was about $395. It was marked down a bit because of open box. Man o man was there a difference in comfort. It felt great on my but out of the box, but now that I have about 3,000 miles on it, it is even better. Best money I have ever spent. Also I have a nice Corbin solo for sale if anyone is interested.

I have a King & Queen seat being made by Sick Saddles in Florida. Cost about the same as the Saddlemen. I'll get the same benefit as the step up for my back. I have my bike set up to run 2 ways. I can run my solo or 2up seat with the fairing & it looks Club style. Once I get the king & Queen I can take off the fairing & put my sissy bar & it's kinda old school chopper style.

Step Up is so much comfort vs OEM which was so much pain for my butt... even if my saddlemen isn't broken in yet - 2nd. Step Up is cheaper in Europe than Comfort model by Indian - 3rd. Step Up is "duo", not for longer trips but for short rides w/ passenger it's quite good... my 2 cents. Ride safe and stay classy ;)

i didn't think a new seat would change much until I test rode a Low Riser S with a Saddleman Stepup on it. I plan on buying one from Saddlemen directly since you can customize it more on their site but, I feel like upgrading the suspension on a sportster is much more effective when it comes to ride quality. Definitely both need to be done but the stock shocks aren't worth a damn to me. Taller shocks make a much bigger difference to me. @@TheMotoJawn if by "extra power kick" you mean it sounds more powerful then yeah. but otherwise no. When you put slips on, if anything you lose that back pressure from a stock exhaust and you lose some torque lmao
