    Narcissists use others for their personal gratification. Supply are those who the narc attaches to and uses to build themselves up in some way. Are you unintentionally supplying a narcissist? If so, then this video aims to help you recognize some of your own behaviours or patterns that may be contributing to the supply of someone with a narcissistic tendency. This video doesn't aim to demonize any disorders, but rather to help those who are in such dynamic to make necessary adjustments to live a more productive life. If this video could help someone you know, please consider sharing it. It may make a difference. It's hard to see a friend or family member when they are supplying a narcissist or a toxic relationship without realizing.
    We also recently worked on a video about how to deal with a narcissist as well here: czcams.com/video/rEFLum0_6n4/video.htmlsi=MFT80Phc_39n5N5D
    There are already a lot of amazing resources out there, but hopefully this video can add to the pool of knowledge out there.

      It is worse when people don't see they are narcissists and believe them putting you on the spot when they continue to get others to stroke their egos and paint you as the "bad vibe" making everyone also making you feel the same.
      It's hard when they have that much charisma to manipulate others.
      No matter what, Trump is a great example. He never admits he is wrong there is always something or someone else to blame and due to how loud and charismatic he is. He will always have followers.

    Narcissistic supply is anything that directs people’s attention towards the narcissist. Supply is attention, validation, praise, compliments. Which may be obtained by the narcissist’s appearance, intelligence, family, money, cars, clothes, connections. If they can’t obtain positive supply, they will settle for negative attention. They may become harmful and abusive. Whatever works for them. Whatever gets them the attention they crave and need.

    I am in a relationship with an extremely powerful narcissist - I am talking the stuff you see in movies. I am the only person in the world to tell this narc the truth and this person doesn't like it. Even when I prove through their own recorded writing how they are wrong in making non stop allegations, they instantly turn it around and accuse me. There is no winning with a narc, though thats seriously important to them. I am grateful I live thousands of kilometres away. I love this person deeply, but am not dependant on them for anything anymore. Extremely charismatic, people are drawn to the individual, though having serious gobs of money doesn't hurt their cause in any way; people can absolutely be swayed and bought.Took me decades to escape the circle, and now I look at amusement at what goes on inside that circle. I think what frustrates me, is how they simply can never be wrong. On anything. And everyone else is the problem. Everyone else is blamed - for every tiny thing. The person has an extremely short temper, and is used to bossing people around. Responsible for affecting the lives of tens of thousands of people ultimately through their business decisions. They suck admiration and praise up like its their last breath. Nah, I am glad to be out of that influence, forever.

      Oh my gosh. I am separated from my ex of 8 years. She accused me of narcissism, and it alarmed me deeply. I did all the internal work - for many years. Eventually I learned through significant, ongoing and heinous manipulation of the courts tendency to favour the mother, who the actual narcissist was and is. I am so weary of people accusing others of being a narc. Very easy allegation to make, with the normal (wanted and given) result being disgust. My experience shows that not all as it seems, even if the person making the accusations seems very easy to believe. Its the behaviours that are not publicised to the same people that are far more telling. Yes, co-parent here. Wish I absolutely wasn't, but I do it to help the children out of that cesspool of manipulation.

    Inner universe! Love that!! Yes so true and so so sad! One big aha moment for me that completed the final piece of the puzzle and helped me comprehend this horrible picture was the following. I think I was about 7 or 8, one key family member who is notorious for creating unnecessary high contrast interactions to get lil ego hits. They were arguing loudly with someone in public about who knows what! This was embarrassing and happened often! When that was over and they stormed away blaming me and my siblings... they got into yet another heated discussion with someone else. This time they argued a g a i n s t what they had just been arguing FOR only a short time ago! All the bells and whistles and flags of every color were going off in my mind. Like hello we are standing right here! Don't you think people see and communicate about this later! I then understood the totality of NPD with the lack of emotional regulation and validation seeking.

    August 17th will make 2 years since my first encounter with a covert narcissist. We dated for a little over a month before I dumped him and took legal action because a lot of the sexual abuse and violence that occurred in that time. Unknowingly, I was briefly apart of his supply. Because I’m someone who does their best to create safe spaces, open lines of communication, and overall cultivating healthy relationships with others, taking accountability is a huge thing for me. Knowing words of affirmation is a huge thing for most people, I blindly boosted my assailant’s ego.
    Both him and his flying monkeys (term used to describe a subset of a narcissist’s supply) are still stalking to me to this day despite the court order. I do my best not to acknowledge it because any attention is good attention but it just reminded me of how it’s really been 2 years since I encountered a covert narcissist.

    Being a narcissist is not to be conflated with having npd (which is a serious mental health condition). Generally, there exists a criteria of diagnosis. There is a difference between having narcissistic traits and having npd. What's interesting is that npd is comorbid with bpd. The way these two interact is fascinating from an outsiders view.
    I'm also of the opinion that if you see this happening to a loved one by friends/family, you should probably give them a heads up if they don't already know about it.
    Narcissistic abuse is something I've endured my entire life, and due to a certain condition I have, I lack the ability to exercise judgment alone. Growing up with narcissists while having a disability like that greatly distorted my view of reality.
    It's unfortunate that cycles are often repeated due to this same abuse across generations either because trauma or genetics (often times both). Shame is not a good reason to not talk about these things.
    The golden rule of narcissism; they are beneath you, and they can not touch you nor mind you if you have an iron grip on your reactivity/impulses.
    You are loved and you are valid!!!
    Edit: Projecting your trauma onto others and expecting them to fulfill some kind of roll I feel may also be a form of narcissistic supply.

    Although I love psychology and I'm not saying the study is wrong I feel that it's a bit much to put someone in such a simple box when the mind is so complex. People are many things and not just one particular behavior. I think it does a disservice to science to paint with such a broad brush. Therefore making our own selves hypocrites in the process and unintentionally creating yourself into the very thing we are judging someone else for.

    npd vs aspd (socio)
    npd: needs narcissistic supply
    aspd: does not need this, at all. (i repeat, does not need this)
    npd: deeply insecure, on the inside.
    aspd: no self esteem issues, none. Confident, cool, suave is their name.
    npd: needs people around 24/7. They will wilt like a flower without others around to praise, like, or tell them how pretty they are.
    aspd: doesn't NEED people, but having you around to drive me places is good, no?
    npd: insecure
    aspd: confident
    npd: "me, me, me, me"
    aspd: "tell me about you."
    npd: (narc injury and temper tantrum)
    aspd: doesn't care
    npd: sees the truth of the world by their emotions and how they feel only (takes their emotions as fact)
    aspd: doesn't have many emotions, fake that they do to blend in (will fake cry at funeral)
    npd: only I, how I feel, and what I want, matters (me, me, me)
    aspd: only winning and power matters. (see, ayanokouji ending speech)

    How do you distinguish the need for narcissistic supply with that of dopamine chasing that someone with ADHD has/does? It feels incredibly similar.

    • @frankie555
      @frankie555 Před měsícem +1

      The short answer is that narcissists can be compared with parasites, leeches. You might compare them with a 2 year old who has temper tantrums when they don't get their way (the "terrible twos").
      Or in other terms "emotionally immature" and not self-aware at all.
      While on the other hand, people with ADHD are in my experience very different, and also often self-aware and cooperative with treatment.

    Antisociality are one of the early stages of Narcissism.

    • @Theeverythingbundle
      @Theeverythingbundle Před měsícem +3

      No it’s not antisociality is formed in early childhood and is trauma response for years of being abused by basically everyone around you. You don’t suddenly go from anti social to narcissist that’s not how personality disorders work you have one or the other and in rare cases both but it never changes once you have one that’s it it’s stuck as it is

    • @Theeverythingbundle
      @Theeverythingbundle Před měsícem +1

      @@Theeverythingbundle "it's stuck as it it"
      This isn't quite true.
      Narcissism can be cured if we'd know how to handle those who live with this condition.
      The are like 3 types of NPD, and I'm not talking about Grandiose, covert or w/e you might think.
      NPD1 comes from living your childhood in toxic environments. They will need best friend empaths and many more failed relationships, but only when they get to their mid 30ies or 40ies their mind will change.
      NPD2 comes from being into a wrong relationship and it's usually at the beginning of our lives, a relationship between someone who deals with NPD while the other one with BPD. My parents were "angels" with one another, but if they would've stuck with their Exes, they would've been monsters, and also their offspring.
      NPD3 is the term I use for sociopathy because I consider it as narcissism.
      Is when those around us discredit us, don't listen to us, repeatedly. Your voice is silenced. Sociopaths are created by the society.
