  • M&P pistols of the past have had their issues and rightfully so. However when Smith and Wesson released the 2.0 series of pistols. They focused not only on bringing a better trigger, but a complete new look to the M&P series of pistols. If you are trashing the M&P 2.0 if probably because you have not shot one!

I have watched this video so many times. Absolutely love M&P’s and would like to see you make another video on them. M&P’s do not get the respect they 100% deserve. I fell for the Glock mentality early on but luckily was able to purchase others (M&P, CZ, Sig, FN) and avoid to myopic view point of Glocks. Please make more videos on why M&P’s need to be considered way before Glock.

The longer the barrel, the higher the velocity of the bullet. Remember though, most self defense situation will be up close and personal (think store parking lot robbery) so velocity really isn't a major factor.

I don’t know why it has taken so long but finally some people are seeing the light. Also, if you haven’t had a chance to mess around and swap slides/frames, I highly recommend the compact (15 round) frame with a full-size 4.25 slide. That set up is my go to pistol set up for all around use. Duty & conceal carry. Add a Floyd’s magwell and +2 base pd and you have an 18 round compact pistol that can’t be beat.

The idea of having the 3.6 slide on the compact frame with an integrated comp that sits basically flush with the frame is something I am a big fan of.

I have owned both. In the grand scheme of things, it took S&W M&P some time to catch up and some think too little too late. If folks have started with the Glock they are not going to change over. If they started with the M&P, then the advantages with the grip angle will be appreciated. However, when it came to getting holsters like the Safariland 6000 series - forget it! It was Glock all the way with the combo - Trijicon RMR and Surefire 3000U-A and that was the only choice for a LONG time!
That's why Glock owners get pissed at "questionable" posts like this! And RDR has made a good living wrapping and selling Safariland Holsters - for the combo above! In other words there is absolutely no incentive for Glock owners to make the shift to M&P! Especially with veterans like me who can get blue label program prices! And CZ has an outstanding line of pistols (CZ P-10C Optic Ready)! So there!

The 2.0 9mm does have a better trigger than the 1st Gen 2.0, but in no way is the best striker fired weapon, the trigger bar sucks, the slide lock release/stop plunger malfunctions and cause the slide to lock back and fail to feed. The optics mount sucks and cheap. I have function checked thousands of them and they are mediocre, maybe equal to a G22. No way better than an XD, HK, Sig or Walther... Albeit cheaper. @@rdrgear yes, everyone does have an opinion!
However, I'm a Level III Smith and Wesson Armorer, I work with them every day, I've function checked over 3,000 of them, repaired many of them and understand their inner workings. Usually, when someone has specific training and experience in a field or method, that's called a professional fact. An opinion is from someone who doesn't meet the above category.
While I never said the M&P is the worst weapon around, It's merely middle of the pack, just as a Glock is. But I can assure you it doesn't match or beat FN, HK or Sig Sauer.... Otherwise the military would have been using it vice the Sig, HK or even Beretta! Now, when it comes to revolvers, Smith and Wesson is one of the best. So again, I say what I say from experience, whomever listens or not, that's up to the individual.

@@victorglavianoglad I came across your comments. I've had my 4.25 m&p 2.0 9mm for 2years now. I replaced the factory RSA around 8.6k rds because it started to lock back on me during some of my USPSA matches. I chalked it up to a weak RSA. Got a new factory RSA from S&W and still got the same thing intermittently. I was also experimenting with my grip around that time and assumed that the higher up grip of my support hand was causing me to ride the extended slide stop at times. But I'm 2years and 16K + rounds on this weapon and constantly dryfire. I'm pretty consistent with my grip and recoil control. Capable of running bill drills back to back without a hiccup and then, out of nowhere the slide will lock back during a string of fire. Would it be be best to just change out that plunger for a new factory one or is there an upgrade for it. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback considering your level of expertise and experience with this platform. Thanks in advance for any info you offer.

@@carlosdaniels9515 and that's not to say it's the worst either, it's on par with a Glock or similar. It's not a bad weapon, I don't believe it's as good as an FN.
Then again, no PD is going to buy 3,000 FNs for its Officers! I own a M&P 45 and It's fine!
