I'm happy they kept it the same. I really liked how she looked in the swimsuit. Especially how she had her hair done as well in game. It made her look even better than she already looked. I feel like the fact she disliked them using the swimsuits from the game kind of erks me a little since atleast they kept it consistent.

Because it's supposed to be just that, swimsuits. I think abs would have fit them, but to me the whole point of swimsuits was "let's put these characters in the swimsuits for fan service". Personally I always liked peko, maki, and aoi and I don't mind they don't have them.

Honestly though as I said anything can change come December so anything is possible.
Personally though I don't think the designs are due to laziness. I'm pretty sure if you wanted to, with all the fanservice moments, you'd be able to find out how characters were supposed to look In swimsuits. I'm not an expert in body building but I'm pretty sure abs should be easy to tell if someone has them or not with said scenes. Personally though maki and aoi look exactly how I thought they'd look with swimsuits on but that's just me. Alot of the designs though, they had to make them accurate to the games they are from, they can't just add stuff to characters that didn't have it in the first place (a good example is kokichi and his abs when I think he had a scene in v3 where he didn't have a shirt on).
But that's my final thoughts on the matter, all I ask is give the game a chance when it comes out, and anything can change in 4 months so anything is possible.

Yeah the V3 designs were disappointing overall but I actually think giving Tsumugi a generic one piece suits her whole Plain Jane design so hers was one I actually didn't mind, but it sucks that so many others got a generic design. So many misses.

I wasn't surprised about Taka at all lmao, he invites Makoto to hang out with him in the nude often enough that body confidence is definitely not an issue for him (and i mean for good reason, like damn). And if he's going to be acting lifeguard, which I guess the whistle is for, he would be the type to go for minimal resistance and nonsense.
Chiaki's and Fuyuhiko's designs really bug me cause of how washed out they look. Maybe it'll be better when we have higher quality sprites, but their features and clothes are all so pale that it takes me a little longer to map them out, if that makes sense? It just looks awkward to me.

I’m bummed that they chose to include Kamakura’s sprite but no proper ones for Mukuro. Like, both of their reveals in their respective games feel just as important as the other, so it just feels really weird to include one and not the other, y’know?
Also, I happen to agree on Mikan’s bikini being one of the worst. At least with Junko’s one could argue, it was to get our expectations up so we’d feel despair at the lack of personality in it, cuz you know that’s something she would do. Kamakura, I could argue the same, since he’s bored with most things so why try to impress anyone with a vibrant swimsuit. However, on top of Mikan’s being a bland white one, it’s also kinda skimpy. I feel like choosing a light color or one that’s really revealing, you should only choose one for a swimsuit. Both is like wearing a hat with a hat on top. But maybe that’s just me.

I think the baffling thing about these design choices is that the whole setup of collecting special swimsuit versions of characters has got to be doubling-down on the gacha parody of the Ultimate Death Card Machine and the various ranks of the characters in V3's Ultimate Talent Development Plan... but gacha games that actually do this sort of thing always makes them super-flashy and eye-catching to make sure the whales spend thousands of dollars trying to get them.
Then again this could be some 4D-Chess level parody where they intentionally make them just kinda normal as a reversal of that, which, given that the swimsuit versions aren't even the "Ultimate" versions from looking at some of Decadence's screenshots, might actually be plausible...

For Junko’s swimsuit, I will point out that in Japan, school swimsuits are seen as fetishized. So it’s possible they put her in that to add on to her sexualized persona.

I also agree that the v3 cast was more bland compared to the others. Makes me even more happy that I redesigned them. More accurately, most of my designs were just my interpretation of their swimsuits before I even saw the sprites. I already expected Kaito to have a spaced them pattern (which I really loved, I like stars too), I also expected them to just give Keebo a floaty, but I still gave theme a swimsuit just for funsies.

junko's swimsuit says じゅんこ which is just her name written in hiragana (as opposed to the kanji she'd normally use)
