Meg’s reviews should be required viewing for all sports/ performance cars manufacturers IF they want to understand what non enthusiasts look for. Yes enthusiasts input and buy-in is important for street cred and the more track variants but if they want to actually sell cars beyond the small numbers that is us, they need to listen to her.

I had the privilege of driving Meg's Mini Cooper for the day while she was reviewing the Maserati. I had a blast screaming around town with the wind in my hair, the jukebox style radio blaring and RGB air freshener flying from the rear view mirror! Here's my review: "Meg's Mini, despite its deceptively small stature, is a box of dynamite not to be trifled with, just like the owner. Mad respect for the Mini!!!" :)

Meg nailed it on why I didn't buy a BMW and Mercedes. Also add Tesla. Here in California, Mercedes, BMW and Tesla are very very common. I live in the Bay Area and you don't see a Maserati GT often.

Maserati and Ferrari WERE both owned by the same company, FCA, until 2015. The Granturismo was actually built in the same factory as the Ferrari F430 and 458.

Fun fact Ferrari and Maserati was actually largely owned by FCA, but I think Ferrari has been buying back shares. The Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio is the last car with a Ferrari derived engine basically a california engine with 2 lopped off cylinders.

To answer Meg's question - No one buys a Maserati new the same way no one buys a BMW new. They are leased vehicles under LLCs and then dumped after 2-3 years into the used market where they plummet in value. Thus the negative value for Maserati as they are just getting reamed on warranties, and no great interest gains, and the brand damage means better leasing options not to lose customers to Porsche/BMW/Mercedes etc.
Certainly that's probably the most common
Now that Ferrari won't be supplying engines to Maserati I predict coming soon to a Dodge dealer near you The Hellarati!

Haha , good over view :) I have one and I agree , not best super car , but I can pack wife , kid , luggage 🧳 and enjoy weekend getaway , I would not buy brand new but used feels good and affordable , when u pull out the garage you still feel like big Italian dick , sounds great , people who spit on granturismo never owned one , perfect daily family wagon ! Some of us can’t afford fleet of cars .......
And waaaaaaay better than any BMW OR JAAAAG !

Yes Ferrari does own Masserati and Fiat-Chrysler owns Ferrari, strange then they would refuse to provide engines beyond 2022. Oh and she is right any changes in the last 50 years to Porsche and BMW are so small only German car goobers notice. I like her, she is the most honest unbiased car reviewer ever.

The maserati granturismo is like james bonds other car when the db11 is broken down in the shop waiting for parts. Stylish but with some performance. and you can get exhausts and tunes on it from

People want the new latest stuff and make a lot of money. My dad bought new cars. He now buys new Hondas. But before, a 6 figure new car wasn't a problem. Some people hate used vehicles. I find a lot of older people who grew up with the cars of the lemon law days are very scared of high mileage and would rather have a new car. Old and wealthy.

Dan is completely wrong on the Lexus LC500 and Lexus overall. He doesn't seem to know that Toyota doesn't have any management over daily operations or manufacturing of Lexus. The two makes are done in separate factories and management of Lexus is independent. It is like saying a Bugatti is just a Volkswagen because Volkswagen owns Bugatti.
I'm a Ferrari guy, own a Ferrari and I have owned the LC500. That Lexus LC500 is a spectacular car and looks far better, in my opinion, than many of the Ferrari's in the last 10 years. If you look at Doug Demuro's ratings, he scored it nearly at the top of his range in all categories. The problem with the car is minor. The infotainment system sucks ergonomically, although its extremely capable and the car isn't as fast as it looks. 0-60 in only 4.5 seconds. If they could get that down in the sub 4 second mark, it would be absolutely perfect. They scratched adding twin turbos which would have pushed the HP beyond 600 hp. I think that was a mistake.

That would be rude.) :) Comments are easily misconstrued, huh? It is difficult to convey humor in the written world, especially when you don't know a person's personality and therefore you are missing details of context and intent.

Maserati is actually enjoying record sales the last couple of years mostly due to their SUV. There are more "normal" cars that appreciate like the De Tomaso Pantera, you could buy one for $25k in 2014 now they average $120k+, they have went up 20% just in the last year. By the way BMW M3 top speed 155 mph normal version, the driver's package 174 mph, just looked it up, Maserati GT 185 mph, not to mention BMW is ugly and dull in comparison.

With sport mode pressed and in manual mode, and in 1st gear, its hard to keep the car from losing tracking when flooring it to red line at launch. Meg obviously did not do that, because she would have been freaked out if she did. And where is all the backfire sounds that this car always produces? Did she not press sports mode ?
Sport was on. Traction control was on. It was in auto not manual

Well i think bmw needs to stop making coolant hoses out of plastic with special clamps. Plastic get brittle over time. On my 2014 335xi a plastic coolant hose blew to the fill tank and exhausted all the coolant in a few min!
High pressure fuel pump blew and took out 2 injectors and the cats too! Camber adjustment bolts frozen in the rear on a car that doesn't go in snow hardly ever.
Oh the xdriive sucks it got stuck in 1-2" of snow! I hit a pothole, and collapsed the front suspension! Broke a front cv shaft. Why? The front struts no longer have a tab to limit their travel thru the steering knuckle - wow how stupid.
Its like pounding a round peg thru a round hole every tine you hit a hole.
Now how many miles on it? Only 50k !
I 100% agree with meg that this is a car that when you own a Ferrari and a Maserati, which I do, that you take out this car when you don't want to deal with the Ferrari. But this car new costs as much as your 358 used and more than the F430 used, and repairs are perhaps even more expensive. And you still need to worry that its too low (this car's front is pretty damn low compared to typical BMW and Mercedes), and you still have to worry about parking it in crowded areas, and you still have to be aware that brakes alone cost a freaking fortune to do at the dealer, "almost 3 grand just for the front brakes" (probably $6000 for all 4 brakes, as talked about in your other video where you help your friend), sooooo ...
