  • Richard's Maserati MC needed some new brake pads. Instead of spending THOUSANDS of dollars having a dealership perform the service, we DIY change out the pads and save a ton of money! The brake pads are pretty simple to change out and it should take only a few hours.

It's a Granturismo MC, not MC Stradale. The MC Stradale was never sold in the US and came with the F1 gearbox from the Scuderia (60ms shifts), carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber bucket seats from the MC12 supercar and no rear seats (although that was available in later years).

To answer the question as to what pulls the brake pads away from the rotor it’s actually a squared ring around the caliper pistons that after the caliper compresses the pads the energy put into the rubber ring from the outward movement then pulls the piston back which is just enough to release the friction on the pads and rotors to not cause drag

Depends on the inverse of the iq of the owner. And if it was a rotor replacement for an actual stradale it's the cost of the carbon ceramic rotors that cost a lot. He probably told them it was a stradale (which it is not) hence the price. Also they did not change the rotors in this video only pads, which are easy and not that expensive. www.ebay.com/itm/MASERATI-GRANTURISMO-MC-STRADALE-BRAKE-DISC-CARBON-CERAMIC-ROTOR-272385-/400791901861

OEM front rotors (paid 400 for the pair with shipping), aftermarket rear and Brembo ceramic pads. Pads are for Lexus IS-F (same calipers) and Rockauto had them for $65.00! Lexus dealer price for these pads was 225.00.

    Great video 👍
Any issue with manually pushing the plungers back, or the with the electronic handbrake 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m assuming this was done without the software to put the car into brake calibration mode

@@firstnamesecondname5341 this car uses an internal little drum brake inside the rotor for the parking brake. Kind of an older style, but works well, and easier to manufacture with those huge calipers.

Also, I see that you still have the steel ramps on there. Any problems getting the 458 up there? Or do you have to use any additional aids to get up onto the lift?
