  • This video is a How To Do It Yourself Major Service on a 2014 Maserati Granturismo. By DIY servicing your car, you can easily save over $2,000 compared to taking the car in to the dealership. The major service needs to be performed every 25,000 miles and the minor service at every 12,500 miles.
    The major service includes oil and oil filter change, coolant change, air filter change, pollen filter change, brake fluid flush, replace both belts, and changing the power steering fluid. We ran out of time and were not able to change the power steering fluid or pollen filter but I will show that in another video.
    Most of the parts you will need to do a DIY major service can be purchased at Ricambi America (www.ricambiame...) or on Amazon. Links are below.

    Thanks for the videos! I use this one as a reference. FYI coming from the drift world you can def jack up a Quattroporte from the front center subframe to lift the entire front end. Yours looks similar. Albeit I went a little offset to the side near the boxed portion of the lower A-arm. For some reason the Maserati subframe seems a bit skinny weakish (compared to a G35/350 or BMW even). You can also raise it up by the rear diff. Don’t be scurred

    One way to help stop the drip from the filter is to use gel coated paper mixing cups for fiberglass repair or a super large slurpee paper cup. You cut a section out of the cup and place it around the filter. It becomes a inexpensive disposal funnel (gel coated resin cups are 1.50 @ or Dan through some large slurpees down LOL

    It seems like these cars are tricky to work on but not necessarily any worse than any comparable sports car. Longitudinal engine + long hood is a plus too. I’d imagine a lot of jobs on these motors are much easier than working on a transverse motor where everything is either in the wheel well or in the firewall.

    My 2016 GT was telling me the 2 yr warranty (25k miles) is due when I was into my lease for a year and half and had less than 12500 miles. Apparently, it's either two years or 25k miles, whichever comes first. So if the car has been sitting on the lot for a long time, the new owner may hit the 2 year service way sooner depending on how long the car was sitting on the lot. The dealer decided to the full 12k service and partial items (whatever looked bad) from the 25k service list and made a note on the car's service maintenance log. It cost me about $900. I know for sure the timing belt was left out for the next round....

      @mwarren8748 Před 3 lety

      No clutch if you don[t get an older Maserati 4200 or a Granturismo with MC shift (F1 transmission style.). The ZF automatic transmission is on the majority of Maserati Granturismo cars. I have had both models and the 4200 is expensive to maintain. I kept my 2008 Granturismo; currently have 52K miles on it. The 4200 got too needy with only 39K miles when I traded it for the Granturismo; I got $10K for the trade in.

      I'm sure some others do. It's more common to do high mileage changes with modern synthetic fluid.

    The bottom Engine tray on my GranCabrio (Convertible) takes different bolts: 10, 13, and 15 mm.

    You should put a small hose on the oil filter drain so the oil doesn't get everywhere.

    On my coupe gt there is a tiny bleeder screw to bleed the air out of the coolant system. You do it with the engine running and the water pump on.

    Hey great video, was wondering when you did the coolant flush did you have to bleed the engine block. I heard that there is 2 bleed screws. The Mas Forms suggest that this needs to be done.

    I'm guessing copper ease would be useful on those bolts. I'm watching this as for some reason I'm considering a GT as I can't afford a 458 😕

    Great video. Wouldn’t it be an idea to have started the car before bolting the covers back on to check for leaks ?

      We could have but we were fairly confident it wasn't going to leak.

    I did a flush on my 1979 Lincoln on the power steering and brake flush for under twenty bucks and that's a 4700 pound car. Out of taking it into Ford or any other place to get it done they would have charged me a good $300

    Good stuff guys...That was very insightful...Can you tell us how to reset the service schedule on the computer with the ODB scan tool and is there a specific model scan tool you recommend?
    Thanks

      I put a link in the description to the scan tool. The tool was pretty much self explanatory.

      I clearly mentioned that I used RODI water which is 0 TDS just like distilled.

    What about a video on how to tighten the chassis bolts on an Alfa Romeo 4C? Because the carbon fiber chassis, the bolts need to be tightened every couple of years at a cost of $1200 to $1300.

    Great video. Now I know why it costs so much to have a car like that one to be serviced at a shop. Give me a 60’s car to do maintenance on. I always hate it when there is one bolt that won’t let you undo or you get all done and you have extra parts laying around. The neighbors don’t mind you revving your engine?

    • @normalguysupercar
      @normalguysupercar  Před 5 lety

      Generally we won't rev but it was mid-afternoon when we started.
