I will never understand people that decide to sleep alone in the middle of a dark forest with no protection

Yeah. The guy in the truck without a firearm to protect himself was not very intelligent. Animal or person, you open a door and pop a round off into the dirt, the vast majority will take off.
Because they are the type that are either oblivious to it or don’t think it can happen to them or pray and it’ll go away 🧐🤨 whenever we go camping or just out hiking we’re packing and it’s going to be the predator that goes down if it’s planning on one of us to be it’s next meal, yes the wilderness is their domain

I had a similar thing happen to me at a remote truck stop in Australia about 2 years ago. I was travelling around the country with my dog in my camper van when we woke to footsteps. I was at a random truck stop in the middle out outback NSW, about halfway between Cobar and Broken Hill. It's literal no-man's land. You can sometimes drive for hours and not see another car on those roads...
I woke to footsteps around my camper van, and my dog just flipped TF out. He's a 45kg Amstaff and just started going mental, jumped in the front seats snarling and going nuts at whoever was outside. I heard the footsteps run away so fast.
Moral of the story..... Get yourself a 45kg Amstaff if you ever decide to travel and sleep in your vehicle. He got so many pats and treats on the road the next day.
Amen brother!!!
That’s crazy, I’m glad you are both okay! What do you think these peoples intentions are? Do you think they just like scaring people or they are actually thinking about killing them?
This has put me off camping now 😅
You must’ve been in Wolf Creek. That’s just Mick.
You were near Wilcannia, and or by default, Little Topar. Your visitor(s) were very probably of the indigenous kind and up that way they are a bad and very cheeky mob.
They were bad back in the day when we run trucks through there - even into the 90's nobody stopped around that area.
There are some places in outback/ isolated Oz that you just DO NOT stop in - and that area is one of them.
Your dog smelled the difference of stench and was right up on thier intentions.
Your dog very probably saved your life, if not, saved you from being robbed and a severe beating. He's a GOOD boy - a dog (of that calibre) is the only thing they fear and respect (up that way - and other isolated parts of Oz).
You've got a good lifestyle and dog. Hone your awareness of the surroundings and tune into your dog's instincts/ frequency. His behaviors and body language will tell you if it's ok to put the feet up or to keep on rolling down the road.
Good luck and God bless you 🙏♥️🇦🇺
There’s no telling how many crazies take up residence in the “middle of nowhere.” Lot of monsters in human form out there.
The amount of people who go into the wilderness and yet are totally ignorant of the sounds and actions of the animals who live there is staggering.
For real.
All these situations are weird/scary only to people that do not spend time in the woods.
Even the people creeping around the cars... cops, DNR, local residents will take notice of a vehicle parked overnight off a back road cus its odd out in the middle of nowhere to find a parked vehicle after dark.
They wanna be sure you didn't go in and not come out, be sure you didn't off yourself and to be sure its not someone up to no good poaching, harvesting dope, dumping a body or an old washing machine.
Turns out a lot of people who live in a van down by the river aren't the sort you want around your home and family too. You don't get a house in the boonies cus you want unexpected company showing up.
The situations where there was no car lights or flashlight says conservation officer to me, 100%. Those guys are ninjas, they pop up out of nowhere. Especially if they are trying to catch someone poaching, dumping trash or harvesting their dope fields. And they are more likely to encounter an armed subject than a beat cop is, and they don't have backup handy.
And as far as hearing people walking around... a racoon sounds like sasquatch when its quiet. I have had them paw at the tent, even tear a hole in the tent to get at food we forgot we had.
The couple where it was clearly another person messing with them in the middle of nowhere... idk what to think other than some people's concept of "middle of nowhere" is 20 yards off the road. Lol
I am sure their fire was visible.
In an area where there are bears, coyotes and cats... always have a sidearm. And then you don't gotta worry about Hill People either. 😆
That prank with the zip ties... epic.
That all being said, there are some horror stories regarding weirdos encountered on the Appalachian Trail. People go out there to disappear and there are tons of shelters, shacks and hidey-holes for derelicts to occupy rent-free without the chance for police contact.
Again... bring your sidearm. What idiot goes out where there are bear and wild cat without a gun?!?!
@@gwoody4003since we're here for creepy stories - Tell us some about the things you heard
I was raised in the country so I'm familiar with most animals, but you can't expect somebody that's never been in the woods and is going on a weekend camping trip to research every animal noise they could possibly encounter.
@@tobiasberlin759 I heard wood knocks in the Minnesota Boundary Waters. It happened several times, same pattern pretty far behind us. Then after the 4th or 5th set, it got a response closer by across the river. Then it stopped.
Later on in the trip, something spooked deer out bad enough for them to run full blast into the river to swim across.
It could have been bear or a cat. Doesn't necessarily mean sasquatch.
Though idk if Sasquatch counts as spooky, I don't think they are a threat unless you give them no choice, like most animals.
Walking up on a bear is pretty alarming too. Done that a few times. Thats probably the scariest thing to ever happen to me in the woods. They don't make any sound at all. You come around the corner and they stand up and look right at you, having the same thoughts as me I am sure... should I run or just stand here and hope they F off. 😆

The woman in the van saying hello to whoever was outside is like an invitation to come in. They hear a woman alone, yeah they'll definitely be back. I think if you are going to do things like this, you have to prepare for the unexpected...because that's what usually shows up to your home or vehicle in the middle of the night.
Yes, exactly! Do NOT act scared either, it makes you vulnerable. Instead, act crazy.
Seriously, even criminals do not want to deal with a crazy person.
Yep. She was definitely an idiot.
She didnt seem very intelligent tbh.
Woman alone sleeps constant alone in remote areas - no firearm.
Doesn't drive away from the spot.
No satellite phone/ didnt call for help/ filmed for blog clout.
And she told him "I don't feel safe " worst time to be honest 😃
Assuming that video was real, the woman is extremely lucky the guy didn’t try to bash his way into her vehicle. She makes it relatively obvious that she doesn’t want to drive away for whatever reason, and she also made it pretty obvious she was alone. That right there seems like a perfect target. Bash out the driver’s-side window so she’d have to come towards you to start the vehicle and drive away, then unlock the door and let yourself in.
The fact that she just sat there waiting for something to happen shows that she’s either very stupid, or the video was staged.
I bet her telling the intruder "I don't feel safe" really scared him off!

The 2 dudes handled their encounter with the predators pretty darn well.

The bear seemed like more curious than hostile.
Both the people in the bear/cougar incident handled it very well and their ability to stay calm while being pursuited by dangerous wild animals is admirable
The guy did not handle the cougar well, and he was quite close to getting attacked. You're supposed to jump, shout, throw stones, and hold your ground when encountering a cougar. The act of trying to escape, even by walking, emboldens the cougar, which can result in attacks. It wasn't until he finally decided to throw a rock that the cougar ran off, but he could have done that much sooner.

Both of the animal situations were handled really well. For cougars, you want to maintain eye contact and back away slowly, and for bears, you wanna make yourself appear as big as possible. They aced the survival tests

The first person handled it super well, and the woman who heard the "footprints" handled it very badly. Announcing yourself like that is practically you making yourself a target, especially if you're alone at night. She was extremely lucky the guy didn't decide to do anything bad.
They both handled it bad. Why would you remain in that spot just waiting for the intruders to come back? (which they did). What if they came back with tools to open the car or smash the windows? They're in a mobile vehicle ffs
It can go either way really.. you announce yourself and they leave because they know someone's in the car or you don't announce yourself so then someone thinks it's okay to break in
Not knowing the intentions of the person I would prob stay silent. Since I'm a woman, I'd be scared once they heard my voice they would want me instead of breaking into the car for valuables 😅

With the cougar situation, it could have easily attacked him at any point even though he was moving away slowly. Since there was a cub around, I have a feeling it was just trying to make sure he wasn't going to stay around his territory. Those lunges were definitely held back more and it was being very cautious and almost fearful. I'm glad both he and the cougar got away from each other safely. I think it was just a protective mama.
Yeah except cougars kill people on a regular basis. If it felt it could eat him it would. It has to feed that cub and the more desperate it is the braver it is.

Violence in nature is often costly for both parties
Most animals will simply not engage in it if they don't have to
It was a mother protecting her cubs. There were two of them there. Those were bluff charges. He should have thrown the rocks sooner. Never turn your back on a wild animal. You become prey at that point. 😉
@@Angyal_Angyal This coverage of the cougar didn’t go into how many times he threw rocks at her. He finally got a big one and she knew she was far from her cubs but he did throw more at her but it was difficult he said to bend down and grab them when she was following so intently. She also looked malnourished a bit. She would have had him for lunch to keep the ability to raise her cubs. No food no milk or meat.

Yeah but people should not go too deep, Bears and cougars don't concern me but some woods contain "other" creatures
The strongest survive
The way the encounters with the animals were a lot less scary/anxiety inducing than the weird people sneaking around at night though 😭
That cougar one was really scary. Here in Brazil we have jaguars in the woods, that in size manner lose only to lions and tigers. The worst part is that they go out hunting only at night so it makes it really dificult to see them. But they can see you pretty clear. We have cougars in the montains as well, crocodiles and anacondas in the river and rattlesnakes in the plainfields. You have to really watch yourself wandering in the nature around here.

Actually the cougar was protecting her territory or her cubs, not trying to attack the guy.
@@Enes-wj5xq Her* cubs... Male cougars/Lions/etc almost always leave after mating, and the mother is the one who raises and protects her/their babies, much like what is often the case in the human world...
@@Enes-wj5xq Another thing... encounters with cougars and/or mountain lions have been fatal for human beings many enough times. Do not spread misinformation like this that the Cougar was ''just trying to defend territory and not attack the guy'' while yes, she was mainly protecting her kids, she WOULD have attacked him and brought him home for dinner if he had run or appeared weak.
@@Valoelify it's not disinformation. He's not saying all cougars behave this way, he's saying THIS ONE was just defending. Which is 100% true. Even wildlife experts have analyzed this video and said the same. If she wanted him dead, he'd have been dead before he even saw her.
@@indigowulf My point still stands. What I said is ALSO TRUE, for while YES she was defending, she would have ALSO attacked him if he had appeared weak or lowered himself down like I said. I was sleeping on a park bench next to my motorcycle in Texas in 1990. It was a roadside pull off in the middle of nowhere. I woke up to the sight of someone sitting on my bike, which was parked just a few feet away. I didn't know what to do, so I said "hey cowboy, that ain't your horse". The person said nothing, just kept sitting there. A few minutes passed, and I figured it was time to end this situation. It was dark, but the moon was shining pretty well. You.could swe, but not see.
I got a hold of my 357 that I had in my sleeping bag. I went to get up, and crawl off the table, but my bag wouldn't unzip. Before I knew it, I had fallen on the ground and was pretty disoriented. The next thing I knew, someone was helping me up and unzipping my bag.
The guy told me he was a hiker, and that he had never sat on a Harley before. He apologized for scaring me. Said he was a Vietnam veteran, his hearing was not so good. I was like , " yep, uh huh, yep" while I was getting my things together to get out of there.
I starrt the bike, and was just about ready to pull off, and a hand is on my shoulder, turning me back. I thought, okay here we go. I stop and look back, the guy says, "here son, you dropped your pistol". I grabbed it, looked at him, he was smiling as I sped off.
So many things could have gone so wrong here. But it wasn't my time or place. And it seemed an old man just wanted to sit on a Harley. I can understand why. But still, maybe just ask next time😎. Oh, and I do not sleep on park benches by the road anymore.

That cougar was protecting her cubs because she saw our dude as a threat (even if he wasn't planning on doing something). Glad he got out of that situation unharmed. If you ever see cubs roaming an area you better go the other way cause their parents may be nearby.
Exactly. The feigned lunges at the man were just that. She just wanted him away from her baby and had no real intention of hurting him if she didn’t have to. Big cats are ambush predators, so if she’d actually been interested in attacking/eating him, she’d have run away immediately, then followed from a distance and tried to get around behind him, lunging and biting at the back of his neck. The only thing I’d also add is that if you see a baby predator, the parents will absolutely be nearby. Unless the momma got killed or mortally injured, she’s not leaving her babies to just roam around alone. 9 times out of 10, seeing a bear or panther/cougar/mountain lion cub absolutely implies that the momma will show herself real soon.

I think what's most disturbing about story number one is as you mentioned someone was walking in the woods in the pitch black with no light source knocking on a random person's truck which makes it all the more creepy. What's more is that he managed to find a truck which was hidden deep in the woods that time of night with no flashlight or anything. Almost like the kid had a crazy hermit outside his truck.
Heck the same goes for the story about the lady in the van. If I ever did something like they did I'd most certainly take a gun with me
Nah fr those 2 stories are not explainable. Possibly could have been tribal people in the story about the guy in the van. As tribes of wild people do still live in some forests in America.
Or park in somewhere that’s lit and has people around!! Why park in the middle of the woods where anything can get you!!??? Animals and humans!!
@@katz0625 You are obviously not much into camping.😆
Better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have one.
he 'thinks' he was secluded, where nobody else was, but clearly that wasn't the case. someone could have been camped nearby, that he was unaware of, etc. someone could even live nearby.
what made no sense though, was how he's got his phone lighting up the rear of the truck, and he says that the person has no idea he's in there???? they can clearly see the rear illuminated by the phone. that's why they were knocking on the truck.
Fox or coyote is very likely for strange sounds at night. Their screams can easily sound human and are very creepy.
I think the scariest bit of evidence is on the first guy’s passenger side. The handprints weren’t on the door handle (where a human would obviously try to enter the vehicle) but along the seam of the door, where something …not human(?) would likely try to pry the door open. The door knocks also didn’t feel like human knocks, expecting a greeting; they felt more exploratory, like gauging how hollow an object was.

i think its completely rational. your heart would be racing and you would be extremely confused if someone that could potentially kill you would be stalking you while you are alone.
God damn respect to that dude who encounters the cougar without running away. It may be common knowledge nowadays not to flee as fast as possible since it will catch you anyway, but it takes some serious balls not listening to basic instincts in that situation of pure fear and shock.
Edit: Same to the biker boy. It might be nothing too special, but I found it very clever of him to use his bike to make himself look bigger, especially in a dangerous situation like that.
Never turn your back on a wild animal especially a big cat as soon as you do its chase instinct kicks in always back away slowly
I was thinking the same with the cougar. I actually think the kid with the bike was trying more to put something between him and the bear. I would have instinctively done the same I think.
Definately using the bike was smart. Bears rear up as a challenge . The bike gave him more height, Still shocking to see the bear stroll into view. The woman in the van was stupid.

The real question (regarding "Footprints") is why the woman in the van wouldnt drive away from the area after the guy says he has a question.
