Hey Brandon, your series on the Turtle motors is great and it helped me a lot. I picked up a '67 that hadn't run in more than ten years. It shifted, felt like it had good compression, had spark and the price was right. New water pump, thermostat lower unit seals, carb kit, fuel pump, ignition set and three days of struggling to unseat the drive shaft from the crank shaft (had to build a special tool to separate them). Finally, I am coming up on the moment of truth. I hope it purrs like yours. I have one last thing to do and that is to figure out where a small spring goes (OMC 0312164 - Spring). The parts blow up is not very helpful and the shop manual is silent on this.

      In this video - czcams.com/video/KRPx1abdDAk/video.html
You can see it at 5:40, where there is a top view of the ignition system
Half way down the idle adjust knob/spring/needle, and help keeps it in place. There are 2 holes in the lower cowl to clip it on.
You can see it again at 6:34
You wont see me remove it, as once the needle is out, spring is loose and falls off.
However, I install it at 45:11

@@BrandonsGarage Thanks Brandon. That solves that problem. I noticed your comment about replacing the fuel line without taking apart the the arm. I can't quite make out what kind of fuel line you used to avoid that. I set my points with a feeler gage but started looking for a timing tool. By luck I found someone who used a 3D printer to make one. I should have a copy printed by tomorrow.
