I just replaced my water pump and when I opened up the thermostat housing I noticed my thermostat is a big plastic assembly not the metal one as in the video, is the metal version a newer style? Is one better than the other?

I need a complete power trim/ tilt system for a 1984 2cyl 50hp Evinrude, for a tight budget price. Do you have one, or know someone who has one for sale? Thanks!

As an old retired mechanic it is very interesting to me to see the insides of one of these big 2-strokes. I've always wondered how they did the big end of the connecting rod where it was not one piece with a built up crank. With the huge number of 2-stroke 4's and 6's in outboards, I would like to see one modified to run in a motorcycle or maybe a jet ski

I got a 212 in a 93 chain drive 4wd Polaris it goes 4mph banging limiter in low and about 16mph in high. I welded a big pollution pump pulley on the trans and used a belt clutch off a rototiller on the engine and a power steering belt off a Ford. Works well kinda slow

Have a 2000 Johnson 50hp. For a couple years it was a pain to start. Always had to start it in neutral. Finally came across this video and this weekend I did everything in this video exactly as described (minus replacing airbox). The engine turned over on the first crank and is the 1st time I've ever gotten it to start without putting it in neutral. Thank you for this video, it was a game changer!

My 74 evinrude twin has no power pack and I see no brackets for one. I know where it’s supposed to be, but there is nothing in there and no way to mount one. The motor starts and runs on high, but it dies down when I try to idle it.

If you went and did the wiring slower, that might be a lot of help but instead you fast-forward through the very important part

Too bad this was years ago lol. I just bought a semi nice one and got stranded on the lake. Definitely had the motor on its side. Definitely got oil in the carb. But it ran perfectly then would start run and die every time after lol. I completely replaced the carb only to find out my damn primer bulb was bad an the gas tank. Haven’t take. Her back out on the lake simply cuz I don’t wanna drain and fill the oil every trip. If you were to suggest a side to lay it on would it be carb and oil filter facing up??

Hi there. I am from Australia We had a 80's model 140hp evinrude outboard that kept leaning out on the lowest cylinder. Had the motor and carbies rebuilt 3 times by two different mechanics but kept on doing it within an hour of each use. Mechanics both put their hands up and said they dont know what was going on. Ended up out of pocket a lot of money and no one seemed to know what was happening. Just wondering after watching your videos if you may know what was happening. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Also lead acid charging can cause a build up of carbon monoxide. It’s caused families health problems and house decontamination issues. If you have lead acid charge out side or in the back yard. Never in your garage

PLEASE DO NOT USE lithium iron phos 4 in series! You will not be happy for very long and enjoybot has a whole lotta hoops to jump thru for warranty claims. Guys, get an all in 1 36-48(38.4-51.2)volt unit. With a BMS that has a constant discharge of 200amps. Some claim 250 constant…. Buuuuut not many carts out there demand that. It’s overkill and a marketing thing. Use 12v in marine and Rv only guys. Palmettobatterypros has a website and great review and install vids. Soon as I see a cart with 3-4 12v LFP4 batteries in it I cringe. 4 BMS’ = 4 fail points. The BMS discharge rate does not add up in series! Only voltage. Amp hours add up in series only. Pls research before spending your money

I have a 1972 Johnson out board,20hp,it fell over and broke the end of the tiller arm on one side and bracket hole and gear shield on the other side,( the tiller arm end that was broken was on the side without the gear linkage.can the bracket be replaced?and half of the tiller arm?

Hi! I have been working on a boat with an evenrude 1983 outboarder. I have a problem with the throttle. At some point it went full throttle but was a little ” jumpy” And then after 30 min i could not get it to go full speed. It wont reach high rpm. Do you have an idea of what the issue could be ?

I wrestled with the bolt/stud like many others in the comments. However I solved it by stacking nail plates on top of the bolt, and then unscrewing the nut against the plates to push downwards on the bolt. Any pieces of flat iron will probably do but make sure you fit as much material between the bolt and the roof of the hole/shelf where the bolt is, to have more thread. The upper threads might take some damage, but they can be remade easier than the whole lower part if you were to damage it while trying to knock it loose with a hammer. Some extra lube on the bolt and nut might also counteract the deterioration. Hope this helps.

A great tip, thanks. I have found that even new after market fittings like Attwood dont go in far enough to lock on the motor fitting. Have had to file the plastic mount to make it fit but it works.

The top carbuetor gasket looks wrong I just did this last night kit came with 3 gasket all of them where wrong and quite different I reused the old gasket it was still in good shape.

The spark tester you used showed strong spark with a red blinking light that can be seen by a blind man. What tester is it? The cheap ones I have, it has to be dark outside to see the spark on my twin Force 120s. Let me know what tester that is. Thanks for your videos and input.

What is the process for the shift shaft removal. Does it just pop right off somehow? Hopefully your still around on here I know this was 4 years ago.

Johnson 6 HP 4 Stroke. Model J6RL4SU: Gear shift handle is stuck. removed lower unit gear is free and shifting ok. removed the handle from it's square bar. trying to remover the PVC that is connected to a wire which prevents starting the engine while in gear (pull start) my question is looking at the leg screwed to the power head, does this come off without removing the power head from the housing or disconnecting all the other things connected to it?

I found a new board on ebay. That will help a lot.

I just used a bit of fencing wire. Held it with vice grips but it went red hot in about 3 seconds. But I’ll try that in the morning. Kinda need it to go, it was in salt water today.
