As a former haunt actor, I gotta say these are pretty realistic depictions of the patron crowd. Especially the person who "gets smart" and then goes out of their way to ruin everyone else's fun by calling things in advance.
Seriously people. If you go to a haunt, don't do that shit. You're ruining the rest of the group's fun, you don't look cool if you're right, and you're wasting your own money by not even trying to enjoy yourself.

They do that because they're also afraid (kinda like how some people call out jumpscares in movies, so that they'll be ready for it), idk it's kinda like a coping mechanism that helps the person to expect the scare, so that they won't be scared.

And even if you can guess the scares, don’t ruin it for people you’re with. I’ve worked at a house and I’ve been through a lot/research them so I can always see a scare but I never tell who I’m with.

Although the ending at the park was a bit disappointing, I absolutely love the end with the killer going home to reveal he's an average guy with a family. Too many killers in these movies are paper cutouts of their genre, so to see one be shown to be a normal suburban dad makes him all the more creepier in my opinion.

I’ve thought about this. Like not to be morbid but if you work in customer service or do anything where you talk to or around lots different people every day, you may have met a serial killer and obviously didn’t know about it. Or at least somebody that’s killed someone. But to you they were just another random stranger
Same I though that was a great choice to include that and it helped separate the killer from others of the genre.
Honestly, the very end of this movie made it for me. He wasn't some sick loner psycho who has deep trauma causing him to go crazy and kill people. He's a dad. A dude. A neighbor. Just somebody, anybody. He could be that guy you wave at every morning before you go to work. THAT is scary to me.

the scariest part about haunted houses is that there is no way you can tell if its just some dude in a cheap-ass costume trying to scare you or an ACTUAL serial killer blending in to get free kills

At least the movie deserves credit for making characters who initially seemed realistic, rather than over-the-top stereotypes and poorly-written caricatures. I feel like well-written characters are a rarity in horror films

I laughed at the, "figuring out the actors from looking at their hands" part. As a haunt actor, I can say that is so inaccurate. Most of us wear gloves, so customers can't tell if we're real or not.😂

For that trick (professionally) there isn’t a fake head on the table, it’s already in the basket. The blade hits the top of the pillory where it stops & collapses a bit, the front of the table (waist up) drops down when the assistant pushes on it to hide them from view, and a metal sheet falls down behind the head-hole to make it look like the blade went through. Very doable in front of a live audience, which makes sense since it’s been done for at least decades.

The guillotine scene is actually realistic, since most executions with them would take the head clean on, since the blade could be filled really easily.
Actually, they only cleaned & sharpened the blade about once a week, so historically it would typically take two or three chops for the guillotine to fully decapitate its victim if the victim was unfortunate enough to be on the chopping block at the end of the week. Early-week executions would cut clean through, though.

@@archivesEris Actually, the guillotine was dull enough to take more than one tries to decapitate only throughout the machine's testing period.. and when it was officially working as expected regularly [A.k.A when Robespierre literally sent anyone he didn't like that day to be publicly executed (so even the person that was condemned wasn't "unfortunate enough" to see the guillotine)], and historical finds and folktales remember the guillotine as being so efficient, that the victim's head would still have the nerves to blink or frown and often would blush for almost a minute, making your statement completely wrong.

My highshool teacher was a voice actor and he always would show us projects he was working on he showed us the trailer for hellfest which was one of his last voice acting jobs he was the Narator voice for the trailer of this movie and he killed it
This movie could easily just be another cursed location movie or monster movie but its more about what is really happening like are they an actor or the real killer.

The ending of this movie is eerily similar to the ending of, "Batman: Cacophony" ; in that, the killer/villain (Onomatopoeia) is shown to just be a regular family man at the end....

12:38 Fun Fact: you can get that effect by taking a laser and putting it through a prism to spread out it's beam across a thin plane and then blowing smoke or particulate into the air to catch the beam. It's trippy as heck and makes for a great practical effect if you wanna make a weird swamp monster or space hand.

I love how basically The Other Killer pinpoints his victims by the ones who are 'not scared'. If Nat hadn't acted all neutral about the scares when they ran in after their last victim and not gave a damn when he was about the kill the other girl, he wouldn't have stalked her out throughout the Haunt. So, if you think about it, it's Gavin's fault for giving her those tips/tricks/confidence that causes everyone to go through the impending slaughter. She and everyone else would've been safe had she had just been her original scaredy-cat self.

So, I just barely watched this movie and found something interesting. At the end, the radio said that 4 people were killed, so either Taylor survived or one of the victims is still confused for a prop by the end of the film lol.

Plus even if someone did try to sue him, the footage shown is from a movie used under fair use, so there isn't even a case to begin with. James does this simply because he is a good person

I love that James put in his description that Bex Taylor-Klaus uses non-binary pronouns, even though the movie seems to refer to Taylor as "she." This guy is considerate and I love him for it. A willingness to listen and understand is incredibly valuable, especially when you act on it and actually learn
The character that Taylor-Klaus plays in the film is not said to be non-binary, so it's entirely proper to use 'she/her' when referring to the character.
I loved how this movie used tension for the killer and false jump scares with the props from the park.

Weird thing, if you listen to the news radio in the car at the end of the movie you can clearly hear them say that 4 bodies were found. This doesn’t line up with the kill count considering 5 people died at hell fest(not including the girl at the beginning). I believe that the taylor character is actually still alive because you don’t actually see them die you just see they were stabbed once. Also this was during the chaos when people started realizing it was actual murder so they should have been able to get medical attention somewhat quickly

How does it feel to be epileptic? like what if you are seated at a public place and they suddenly start flashing lights. . do you just seizure or do you have a time limit to get out of there
serendipity well with mine it’s not as severe. So when it does happen I’ll get a minor headache and I’m able to leave the area before it gets too intense. But I’m not allowed to go to certain places or do/watch certain things in the dark.

I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would.
It's simplicity made it fun and I loved seeing Bex Taylor-Klaus again.
I would absolutely LOVE for something like Hellfest to be real with the physicality of it included, that'd be a lot of fun.
As someone who works in haunted houses, I could see this happening but the murderer of being someone who goes to The Haunted house and gets mad that they've been scared
