The actor who plays the boy (I forget the character’s name) that is always getting bullied was actually bullied off-camera by his fellow child actors, so a lot of his reactions in the film are pretty authentic. The bullying got so bad throughout filming that the actor who plays that nice camp counsellor that tries to befriend Angela had to step in and tell the bullies to behave themselves, or else he would tell the director.

Even though it almost emotionally destroyed the poor guy who had to do it, using Angela's face as a mask for the final reveal shot makes it look way, way creepier than it would have been if it were just a fake strap-on.
Something about how masculine in shape the body is compared to Angela's actor's and that frozen expression on their face is.... kinda terrifying. She's making a face like she's screaming, but she's not... she's just standing there with her eyes bugged out, mouth wide open, knife in hand. The rigid, unmoving fakeness of the face actually adds to the horror element instead of taking away from it.
I wonder if the the mother of the person who plays Angela was upset about what the filmmakers did instead they intended to do?
Wait how did it emotionally destroy him?

In regards to the transgender issue of this movie, i dont think it should be an issue as peter was not transgender, but a boy, forced unwillingly to be raised as angela.
@@StrayCatboy That's not what the movie implies, Peter isn't being "forced to live as the wrong gender," Peter is being forced to live as his dead sister after an incredibly traumatic accident that killed her and their father and evidently resulted in head trauma. I think it the part when he says ah man and grandpa finally learned how to firmly grasp the hammer
I really think it's important that people keep in mind that psychotic characters forced to be girls/boys by their parents are *not* transgender. Comparing the two is what causes the issues and conflates the two.
One is a part of who you are. The other is a mental breakdown forced on you by horrible parents.
The same goes for characters like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. He's not transgender, he's a psychopath that murders people.
Trans person here (if the pfp isn’t obvious enough), I never had a problem with this movie either. And it was never meant to be harmful, just a unique twist, and I think it’s great
hi, also trans. I'm glad this movie didn't negatively affect you. the ending genuinely made me sick to my stomach. I wrote my English thesis on transsexualism in the horror genre, here is the excerpt that I feel best explains my feelings.
"The audience is told Angela is not transgender, that this choice was made for her, and yet, none doesn't make the final image of the film less tasteless to watch; Angela, nude, covered in the blood of a boy she seduced and decapitated, showing a film once again putting transsexual bodies on display as grotesque and disgusting. The disgust the audience is meant to feel at a “mutilated” trans body triumphs the horror of the rest of the film, making the greatest horror of the film not the murder and assault, but rather the transsexual body. When found, having just murdered on of the other camper, the exclamation made by the counsellors who find her is nothing to do with the violence, but rather, a disgusted and frightened: “My God, she's a boy.”
@@mitzo4526
I’m cis, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I think the idea is that the kid snapped because he was being forced to live as the wrong gender. The movie is arguing that it’s abusive to try and make someone present as a gender they aren’t, using the example of a cis boy being forced to present as female. It would be just as bad to force, say, a trans girl to present as a boy.
@@tsifirakiehl4250 i see your point, but due to the time it came out and the actual impact it had, i just can’t see it that way
@@phasmid42 I agree wholely. Even if Peter isn't trans (I'm using his prefered name here; calling him Angela would be just as bad as deadnaming an actual transperson), the way his body is used as a cheap jumpscare and twist is still transphobic. Crazy how the counsellers where more freaked by the girl penis then the LITERAL DECAPITATED HEAD.
The scene with Peter pointing and Angela makes sense after the reveal. It’s almost like they’re telling us that he’s her.

The gay scene with the dad and that Lenny guy is supposed to show "Angela's" confusion if two boys can love each other. Since she isn't actually a girl, Paul thinks so though and wants to be with her. The scene after that with the boy pointing: Since the boy is "Angela" he's pointing at the girl like saying "I'm you now". I guess this is just confusing foreshadowing that the girl is actually a boy and is now confused, if he's gay or not, since everyone sees him as the girl.

He wanted nothing but the smoke
God the chop top "good night" never gets old
If you don't get choked up, watching Felissa Rose humbly, yet emphatically expressing her love and appreciation for this movie, then I don't care to know you! It's that simple. I found this on the rack at Ye Olde VHS rental store, like it was some lost, Goonie relic! I love it because it's not as mainstream (or wasn't) and while my friends were all about Freddy and Jason, (not without their charms) 'Angela' was one of the best to bring a 'Woman's Touch' to the camp slasher genre!

Teenager: oh this place looks nice
Serial killer: not if I have anything to say about it
"fetch me my tools"
*(insert a relevent meme)*
*and i do*
Serial killer said: Hold my beer
*Serial killer: hold my knife/weapon
While they're on the beach kissing, Angela has a flashback to her father and Lenny laying in bed together because that's how she sees it. At this point, Angela doesn't feel like a girl and is still being forced to dress like a girl by her aunt.
When put in the context of the ending it makes a lot more sense.
also the fact that it was triggered when he tried to unbutton her shirt, making her be reminded that she isnt really a girl. Idk why James didnt catch that, it was pretty obvious
Yeah........
Yes, *interestingly*
I love how James writes the scripts you can tell he spends a lot of time on them
i LOVE LOVE LOVE watching kill counts bc i’m to lazy to watch majority of the movies and it sums it up and it’s amazing!
Martha: *Gives the kids weed* “I believe there’s a whole bag.”
I love this.
I think she kept a few bags for herself, that woman is weird.
That ending scares the hell out of me. Thanks for making it the thumbnail!
Same man to me its the only horror movie that scares the shit out of me because the ending
That sounds like a very loaded statement.
Tbf if you were a child and you watched this... There's a high chance you'll get traumatized by it
Fine mix of humor and horror makes it so good.
This has now become one of my favorite kill counts
Angela: Goodnight!
Paul: ...Goodnight~!
Chop Top: Goodnight
That actually got me, nice one James!
Wait is this actually seth rogan?
oh nvm
Seth
Same dude, I died when I saw it the first time xD
Seth Rogan you spelled your own last name wrong mr ROGEN
Forcing your child to take on a different gender doesn't make them Trans it makes them abused and in need of help.
technically no but its basically what trans kids go through. this is just the reverse lol
@@coatimundi69 not really most parents are against their kids being trans
@@ashleyw6728 well yeah, and those parents are forcing their trans kids to take on a different gender to what they are. so, like peter being forced to be a girl, trans kids are forced to be (insert birth gender)
@@coatimundi69 that's just not how it works tho
@@ashleyw6728 it is quite literally how it works lmao
I liked how her/his brother always fought and went after the bullies 😂
