My favorite things about this particular Sherlock is when it is a bit quiet, when it is thoughtful, when it is a matter of textures and sounds and smells that seem to deliciously balance out the intricacy of the plot line and the mystery. They live in a simple place, the fireplace is on, tea is made, chairs are placed and minds are working in an extraordinary way. I guess I had a problem with the last season because it seemed a bit more Dr. Who than Sherlock. I love Dr. Who....but for a different reason. It doesnt have to be broader and bigger and fancier. It needs the quiet to counterbalance the intricacy of the storyline. Its a series about edges. The edges of things. Cold against warm, dark against light, loud against quiet. Last season was all loud, bright and hot....nothing better than the sound of a tea kettle, snap of a fire, pipe smoking in an easy chair and then suddenly rushing out into the rain to a dark spooky murder scene.
WHERE IS THE 5TH SEASON? 😭😭😭
If they make a season 5 they better have a good explanation for season 4!

Too hard to pin down a favorite moment.....I just absolutely HATED that John believed Sherlock to be dead all that time. My heart broke watching his agony.
Le favoris restera pour moi la chute du Reichenbach, tant d'émotions en un seul épisode... Après bien sûr il y a d'autres épisodes incontournables comme Un scandale à Buckingham et le 2e épisode de la saison 4

I could give Sherlock praise, if they hadn't made a complete shambles of Series 3 & 4. The writers just didn't have a clue where to take the series further and seemed to care. Disappointing.
Secret Guy You make it sound like a fact. It is not. It is purely opinion.
It's a fact when there are clear flaws with the writing, plot holes and lack of character development. Sherlock was really all about Sherlock showing off and solving REAL cases, which was the main problem with series 3 & 4. It became too self aware and full of itself and was completely devoid of the charm and depth it originally had. But it left us with annoying and awful characters, (Mary was insufferable) and great villains that led to nowhere, due to the terrible writing. As a HUGE fan of the show, this direction was unforgivable!

I hope they do a Season 5 as I hate for Season 4 to be the lasting impression of Sherlock. Thank God Mary is dead, I just want her to stay GONE, she was so irritating and for me a big part of what went wrong. It's too bad there isn't a logical way to bring Moriarty back though. I know it's not canon but they shouldn't have killed him off so soon, he was the perfect villain.
They clearly can't be assed with this show. Jeremy Brett is Sherlock Holmes, always will be.

Brett will always be my Holmes, but Sherlock brought a new take on the character. I enjoyed watching the writers weave in the bits of the canon. 😄

Abbington was given that role, she did not earn it. I can not respect her.
