    had a couple, slow,never changed over 20 years. but they went through hell ,underwater jumps. i feel bad for it some times. still put 1000 miles a year in all Wisconsin weather. this thing will never die!

    best atv I ever had since I was a kid, I was really sad when my dad had sold it, had too many great memories on that bayou 250

    I have never owned a more reliable machine than my '98 bayou. I still use it sever times a week, and it has never let me down. Very underrated machine.

    These are one of the best bikes I have ever had. Has started every time first pull even in 40 below here in south dakota

  • @Tristan102100
    @Tristan102100 Před 10 lety +9

    i have this machine. couldn't ask for a tougher or more reliable piece of equipment. what we do with atv's, comfort is a very small factor. you would have to have been the atv itself to understand what i have put it through . and it still fires right up on cold mornings, and never skips a beat! i think i damaged the driveline clutch pretty bad the other day, though. that would have been operator error if i did. my friends have a lot of different wheelers, and by a landslide mine is the toughest, because of it's outdated simplicity and zero bugs there is nothing you can do to kill it other than run it without oil. i have wreaked it several times, and drove it home each time, exept for the last time, about 3 weeks ago. and the 2 reasons i didn't drive it home were: i wreaked it by accident because it was out of fuel
    the tire fell off of the rim
    overall this machine would be the best buy if you are asking for longevity and ruggedness under proper mantanance and extreme conditions. in fact, kawasaki failed to continue the bayou 250 because people stopped buying it, because it was so tough!

    Thats the good thing about these machines.....nothing really complicated, so there's nothing to go wrong. The same holds true for the older Yamaha yfm 200 us.

    Bayou's are probably one of the best ATV's kawasaki has ever made when it comes to sheer reliability...

  • @junvaleriano7074

    I had a bayou 300 4X4 , I found the suspension very good for comfort far better than Honda trx 300 ,350 Yamaha and even KQ 300 of the day. Also it was full time 4x4 I got a engineer he made up a collar/gear mechanism on the out put shaft so I could disengage 4X4 that made a big diff as I went on road alot

    That whole point from 4:25 is purely opinion anyway, there is no way to measure how much a heart soars... Let the kid think his is the best in the world, its only an opinion. Besides, the Kaw is just as good as anything else in the price range.

  • @Modded25
    @Modded25 Před 13 lety +2

    i like my bayou its a tough little P.O.S.
    but the front end is crap the shocks are to small and the single a arms suck (which make it a little more easy to flip it)
    ive fliped mine end over end and it landed still running though its cheap and could use some upgradeing it will probably last longer than the ozark or the recon

    i am buying a 2000 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 for $200.00 not bad since it still has great tires on it and the frame is still as black as the day it was built meaning that it hasnt been some mud buggy for someone but i was told that it smokes so the rings needs to be replaced and the engine is already disassembled and i was given the gaskets for it but i have to get some rings for the piston overall i am happy with it

    I have an amazing 2000 Kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 the things a beast. I just don't like how there are no gauges or a fan so my motor gets pretty hot when we go on full days

    4:25 total bullshit i am 14 and i weigh 145 lbs and the bayou has scared me a few times. i can do a wheelie from a stand still in third gear on level ground,sitting on the seat(lots of power) and this thing FLYS! it can make my heart soar! and it is also THE BEST trailbike i have EVER used!!! the honda recon is terrible compared to the bayou in almost every way.

  • @TagGeorge
    @TagGeorge Před 11 lety

    The worst part still to date of the bayou is the drum brakes. They are strong when new but get worn out quickly. I have have had other machines but it proves to be reliable other then the crappy brakes. I think kawasaki should have updated the lousy brakes to see if sales improved before replacing it with the brute 300.

      +ATVTV ok thank you. I found some of these for sale. The guy wanted 1000$ for two Kawasaki bayou 220s. Is that a good price?

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  Před 8 lety +1

      The value of a used machine will depend on its condition and its use. How much was it ridden? How hard has it been ridden? Has it been crashed? Are there damaged parts on it? Was it maintained properly? All this goes into figuring the value of a used machine.

    • @danielreyes7732
      @danielreyes7732 Před 8 lety +1

    You might want to double-check your numbers. You lose a little credibility with them. 8000 hours at the least would be 8000 miles and on average for ATV riders it would be more like 80,000! I might believe 800 but...8000 ;-)
