      When that happened when I was playing, I always thought John couldn’t help but wish to connect with an old friend about Arthur, to let it be known that Arthur died a good man. And I found it sad but also realistic that everyone else was in a hurry to leave, or to not really talk about it, because they moved on with their life. And the fact that John was the one who brought it up showed us that he didn’t move on like Arthur told him to.

Everything he does, up until the final act of the game, is not of his own accord. He doesn't give a damn about his old "comrades", something he vocalizes several times throughout the first game. At that point, they are now between himself and his family, and those who dare to separate him from what he cherishes most tend to end up dead.

    I always felt like John harboured some sort of survivors guilt when it came to Arthur. At the end of RDR2, it's clear that John begins to really look up to Arthur and is still trying to live up to his sacrifice in the epilogue. Keep in mind that John is found by Agent Ross entirely because of his revenge mission against Micah; a mission Arthur in his final days would have disagreed with. If I were John in RDR1, I don't think I'd be able to talk about Arthur either. John turning back to his old ways and hunting down his former gang members makes Arthur's sacrifice seem worthless. It doesn't matter if John didn't have a choice. It seemingly invalidates the sacrifice of someone that John believes was better than him. How do you emotionally confront that?

    Arthur passing might be the only thing John never got over, i mean, he saw Arthur slowly get worse and worse in health and never knew why, and Arthur was the only one of the gang he counted as an actual brother, he probably blamed himself for Arthur's death thinking if he stayed or he could've convinced to cone with him a little further he'd still be alive for awhile until he found out he had TB. Arthur possibly could've lived if they went another way, copperhead landing wasn't too far, or if Arthur instead of returning to camp went to get John's body because at the time he thought he was dead and he'd find John and they'd go there. John had also grew up with hosea and dutch but remember he left for a period of time and got to experience something other than the outlaw life. By the time the Pinkertons were chasing them down, he knew his time was close even if his tuberculosis would never have shown itself. The pinkertons were gunning down the last of the outlaws left in the west. That’s why he tells John to get out of the life, to live for his son jack and Abigail. Because John had something to live for while all Arthur ever lived for, Dutch’s fantasy ideals, we’re all squashed when he saw how quick Dutch cast him aside.

    I would want a RDR1 remake more than a RDR3 or GTA6. It would be pretty time consuming, but I'm guessing it wouldn't take too long of a time considering most of the map for RDR1 is completed already. It would mostly be implementing old missions, which is probably easier than making new ones. And also, most importantly, changing the dialogue so Arthur is mentioned.

    • @JohnReedy07163
      @JohnReedy07163 Před 3 lety +20

      Arthur doesn't need to be mentioned, it would add literally nothing to the first game. Bill and Javier sided with Dutch and after 12 years, Arthur is long dead and has nothing to do with why they are doing anything. John is doing what he has to because he killed Micah who was working for the Government the whole time, and as seen in the post credits of RDR2, so was Dutch which is why the government wanted him dead for not saving Micah. Everything having to do with Arthur died with Micah. Everything in RDR1 had to do with why Dutch abandoned John after Chapter 4 in RDR2 and the Saint Denis bank robbery. That's what John means when he said Dutch left him for dead. After Saint Denis, everything John did for "Dutch's gang" he did to make sure he and Arthur could get out of the gang before Dutch destroyed it but they were too late.

      @@JohnReedy07163 I disagree that Arthur doesn't need to be mentioned at all. John left the gang and Dutch behind with Arthurs help that night and him chasing them down again would undoubtedly stir up old feelings about what happened. John not throwing what Dutch did to Arthur in his face is just strange. A conversation where John talks about what a piece of shit Dutch is for leaving him for dead having zero mention whatsoever of Arthur makes no sense.
      "You left me to die. The only reason I'm alive right now is because of Arthur.", or "Me and Arthur trusted you and Arthur lost his life because of it.", or whatever else dialogue.
      If they remake the game and that doesn't get mentioned, people are going to be very confused. That's the biggest reason people want a remake. So that Arthur and the other members of the gang can be added into the story to make it more connected to the original. I agree that it doesn't "need" to mention Arthur, but I honestly wouldn't buy it if it didn't. The older graphics don't bother me. And I mean, what other reason is there to remake Red Dead over any of their other games? Why not GTA 3, or Vice City, or GTA San Andreas, or Bully instead? Red Dead isn't going to do the numbers that GTA does no matter what. The biggest draw they have is that everyone fell in love with Arthur and want to see him mentioned in a remake. But if they don't do that I'm not sure how many people would really rather have a RDR1 Remake over a GTA San Andreas remake.
