Daniel Stewart Yup noticed that too
@@danstewart4821 Thank you! Thought I was one of the only people who caught this! Such great foreshadowing on the writers part.
Yeah, Jack's first meeting with Ross was some great symbolism
Plus, the other scene with Bill and John the night of Sean's party where he's jealous John's the favorite
But also where Arthur/Lenny/Hosea are buried!
The latter two want to be buried with friends/family (which they are, after the bank robbery, right next to each other)
And Arthur grudgingly admits he'd like to be buried facing the setting sun, on a hill haha
Sean says to Bill “If you were my boss I’d never laugh again” Bill was the leader of the mission that Sean dies in.
Good one
Holy shit

Yeah
Bailey Alexis Snow I feel like that’s one of the many ways the game shows Dutch went crazy, even if it did go against everything he stood for he went in to the caves and everything went to shit
Then in the end of RDR1 he tries to hide in a cave...

Was he really a gunslinger? The only thing he does is kill one guy. Sure you can do stuff outside of finding Ross but he's not the same as John

ohIcanChangeMyNameIDKthat
The spirit could still be there
You forgot when Arthur said to Sean about his head being hit on the train "at least you don't have a hole in it".
True, my bad
These two moments of foreshadowing I like:
After Arthur talks with Agent Milton while taking Jack fishing, Agent Ross tells Jack, "Enjoy your fishing, kid, while you still can." They first met by a river, and Jack later kills Ross by a river.
Second one is John telling Javier in El Presidio, "I ain't the judge, but...as it turns out, it's you or me. The way I see it, might as well be you." The second game shows that John gets it from when Dutch drowns Angelo Bronte and feeds him to an alligator before saying, "It ain't nice, I know, but it's either us or him! I figure it might as well be him." That part kinda transforms John's quote in the first game to not only badass but also directly quoting Dutch.
Spoilers ahead!
Also dutch was quoting himself before he jumped of the cliff in rdr1
@@m.k.1640 Who by the way was quoting an author he is shown to like in rdr2, can't recall the name though
@@psl109 Evelyn Miller?
@@tylerwilson3507 yep, that's the one
Jack Marston becoming a gunslinger is the saddest moment in all of RDR 1 and 2. Everything they did was so that this boy had a chance to grow up and be something else. Nobody wanted him to be an outlaw, including he himself I think. But violence begets violence, and the viscous dance continues, all in the name of revenge, generation after generation. There is no redemption, only vengeance. What a series.
I’m pretty sure that Jack doesn’t carry on being a gunslinger. In gta you can find a book called red dead redemption and it says that the author is j.marston. I think that Jack grew up to become an author and write about his adventures in the Wild West.
@@alan897100 I don’t think GTA and RDR are in the same universe. California and New York are real places in RDR but in GTA they are called San Andreas and Liberty City.
@@Nandoswitharando I think it's just a bit of a convergence. Like how the 3d era shares some things with the HD but they aren't entirely in the same universe. So like red dead happened but some things were different, like the Mandela effect sorta
When you put it that way, he gives me a whole lot of Jax Teller (SoA) vibes. Considering that the bikers are basically modern cowboys, you know the outlaw life and the steel horses. John Teller didn’t want the outlaw life for his son just like John Marston but he died before he could do anything about that. At least Jax succeeded at rescuing his sons from the outlaw life.
And their names are basically the same too lol
John Marston / John Teller
Jack Marston / Jax (Jackson) Teller
Ya Jack only wanted to get vengeance for his whole family the gang and leave it at that
forgot the dailogue when arthur is asked how he would like to die, he says "probably facing west watching the sunset" which forshadows his death when u get the good ending when going with john.
Charles also buries Arthur on a hill facing west, and acknowledges that that’s what he wanted
The opposite happened, though, he died facing east, which meant not the end of his life and the gang's, but the beginning of John's new life.

“Can’t fight... gravity” I love that recurring speech. It sums up Dutch perfectly. All he ever has done is stir up as much chaos as possible and then run like a coward when consequences arose. His death was him finally attempting one last escape.
I really liked how both times before he jumped off the cliff he went, “I have a plan… This is a good one.”
I like how John's grave says "Blessed are the peacemakers" and Arthur's grave says "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness". Sums both them up perfectly.

Doesn't Arthur's grave say different things depending on your honor level?
@@mangopie7602 Yes. If he has low honor, it says something like "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" or something like that.

"I know if the situation were reversed, he'd look for me." - Javier Escuella on John Marston, 1899
Chapter 1
Only the situation was not reversed. Javier searches for a wounded friend in desperate need of help out of loyalty and concern.
John however, is forced to hunt down a backstabbing fugitive who he'd have preferred to forget.
I mean-

Fair play to Ross. He could have blasted Jack with his shotgun, but instead had the duel.
His shotgun was pointed up, Jack could have cleared leather by the time Ross fired. And even if he did, what if he missed? By the time he would be able to shoot again Jack's sixshooter would've put half a dozen holes in him. Just saying
As prickly of a motherfucker as he was at least he fights like a man. Even when faced with his killer he stands tall and doesn't cower.
And, he was duck hunting, so presumably that shotgun was loaded with birdshot ammo, which of course is kinda rubbish against human targets.
@@StimkySkunkoyeah a normal shotgun ammo would obliterate the duck
You know if you kill Javi in the First Red Dead John has a regretful expression on his face, even after he spat on him. Yet when he kills Bill he gives no sign of regret. Guess John truly saw Javiar as a comrade than Bill.

These words come to mind with many people in this series. Dutch, Micah, Bill, John and Jack.
Red Dead is nothing but a series of tragedy, revenge and hollow victory. The endings are bittersweet, you finish it but never feels how you want it.
Well said
Javier: “we was family”
John: “and then you and Dutch went crazy”

Man Javier is actually good, he never actually aims at Arthur or John (when at the final standoff)because he still considers them brothers according to the Javier actor
And technically he was good, since he didn't betray his leader
And he and Bill didnt chase after John and Arthur
@@fgwrts So Arthur and John were bad, because Dutch considered them traitors, huh? Nah. Dutch is to blame. You can't betray someone, whose mind betrayed himself.
The way Javier puts his arm up, in slow mo, during the final stand off in rdr2, I think he was about to lower his arm to aim at Arthur and John. I'm not sure he was as ambivalent as people make out, like he was reluctant to fire at them. If he was impartial then he wouldn't have stood with Dutch, he'd have run over to the woman that got shot by micah or something.

Similar to how Dutch changed
Sebastián Salerno // nah.... dutches change you can see happen before your eyes. Javier it felt so sudden.
Yeah cuz he's "loyal"
While I agree that seeing him in both games back to back, it's jarring, we have to remember that it's more than ten years between when we last see him in RDR2 and his appearance in RDR1. A lot happened to him in that time. My thinking is that soon after the end of RDR2, Dutch abandoned Javier and Bill, leaving Javier with no authority figure to guide him and leaving him distraught and with nothing left. Having nothing left for him in the USA, he went back to Mexico, becoming a gun for hire and slowly becoming more violent, selfish, and careless as the life he once cherished completely collapsed around him.
Imagine if they made remastered versions of rdr1 where, while john still doesn’t mention arthur, but it clears up plotholes and he doesn’t act like everyone in the gang betrayed him, referring to arthur by things other then name

Dutch most likely couldn't find the place they held Arthur. They took Arthur to some random ass cabin.
Toxic Gaming how did Dutch get away? That’s a plot hole though, and it pains me to discuss plot holes on such a great game.

Well Ross was duck hunt- ehh forget it XD

One thing that i always liked was how Javier's character turned out. In rdr2, he was kind and 100% for the gang and Dutch. When shit hits the fan and John sides with Arthur over Dutch, Javier sides with Dutch because Javier wasn't present during the argument. He runs in after to tell everyone they are in danger. Then in rdr1 when John comes for him, Javier could've killed John but he didn't. He pushed something on John to buy time to run away. I think his reluctance to kill John really shows his view of the gang. He calls John his brother even though it gets thrown in his face.
I also really liked that in rdr1, John doesn't have to (or can't) kill Bill, Javier, or Dutch. It flows nicely with the story of the prequel.
Spoiler warning lads for both games
I was interacting with uncle in the epilogue and here is how it went

For me he was also sitting in the same spot he died In the first game
When Dutch and Arthur jump off the cliff to escape the army Dutch gives the same speech he did when he jumped off a cliff in RDR 1
I have that covered in another video
There’s a camp encounter where Dutch says he has two theories on how to argue with women and neither of them work. John uses that line in RDR1 Hes a goddamn line thief.
I know that one
There are a few occasions when you hear Arthur repeating stuff you've heard Dutch say, such as that line about revenge being a fool's errand. It really shows how charismatic a leader Dutch was in his prime.
@@petermcconville0
or how hypocrite he is...
also the "it's either us or them, might as well be him" line
I think a much smaller foreshadowing moment that people don’t pay attention too is in Rhodes, if Arthur helps this doctor get his wagon back after it’s been stolen he gives Arthur a book that helps you craft tonics to help your health, and the doctor will say “it won’t help with anything chronic, but you might not need it too” this is all before we start to notice that signs of Arthur being severely sick.
you really start to realize no one in the gang was just inherently bad, they did bad things and lived a bad lifestyle but it was because they had nothing left but each other, it just all broke and since it was their family, it broke them
Except for Micah. But yeah you’re right.
@@dannyhernandez265 Watch Once Were Warriors. It's a New Zealand movie. It's a story of a family who fall apart after Jake, the dad's, alcoholism and abuse to his wife and children. It reminds me of that. A family who are destroyed simply because of one person who treats the others so cruelly.
danny hernandez and Arthur
danny hernandez Arthur and Micah is on the same evil chart
@@genie153 did we- did we play the same game?
When you are in the epilogue of RDR2, after you build your ranch, when you get out of the barn it have the same animation and light effect as when John dies in RDR.
Really ?
indo-J at least I think so.
Yup I loaded up a previous save just to check out of curiosity
"Enjoy your fishing, kid, while you still can." - Edgar Ross, to Jack Marston.
Yeah
RealShork Duck hunting
More or less, it was that Jack got revenge for his father near a river. A river is where it all started, and a river is where it all ended.
Oh how the turntables 😂😂😂
I hate how things ended with Javier I really believe he was one of the real ones on the team
Jack: excuse me mr Ross we haven’t met before
So they just forgot about the time when he and Milton rudely interrupted Arthur’s and Jacks fishing trip
yeah, totally not because rdr2 didn't exist back then and the lore was way different
You tend to forget things when you're 4 years old and 15 years pass
"You gotta learn to finish things Jack."
"I know..."
You should have included that scene with Arthur and Jack. That foreshadows Jack's revenge for John.
👍thanks for the tip
Well jack did become a gunslinger *over her dead body*
True
_That's my boy joining the family business_
I’d say it’s debatable in way but true in another . There are RDR Easter eggs in GTAV and one of them is a book shelf where there are books written by Jack (he ended up becoming an author). So he probably didn’t end up like John or Arthur.
In the other hand he didn’t make Abigail, John, or Arthur proud by killing Ross ( “leave and never look back” “revenge is a fools game”)
@@dutchvanderlinde353 any good plans lately?
@@charleswarner5844 _Robbing the Blackwater bank again_
I remember I chose to use the high powered pistol (the one Ross gives to John) in that final duel. It added so much more to those few seconds Jack looks at the gun. Redemption!
0:45 "Tell them to go back and bring someone a little more impressive next time"
John: Comes back with Arthur
And Arthur says "I see you're still as lazy as a toad and twice as ugly Williamson"
That would have been amazing
And then after arthur kills bill he just says “alright well, i should be getting on”
Sean saying if bill was my boss i would never laugh again foreshadows his death as bill was in charge during that particular mission
Micah was in charge and he saw the trap coming
True
Bill was the one who set thr "security gig" up with the Grey's
There is one in the epilogue where Sadie and John catch a mexican gang member from Mexico. John comments he would never go to Mexico.
Edit: John makes a comment in the end of the mission " Afavor for an old friend"
Really ? Thanks for the heads up !
Indo-J it's in the mission A favor for an old friend.
there is a dialogue between Javier and Karen about visiting Mexico someday (this makes me hope that she can appear in a DLC in Mexico)
He says this because of how crazy the gang is
celino santos i hope R* really takes a chance in Story DLC post main story and confirm the fate of Karen and Javier's journey back to Mexico
"He implores me"
*"Implores"*
As much as I love how the 2nd game makes so much of the 1st game clear, one thing i never understood was Bill and Javier never really went insane like they were in the 1st game, they were just loyal to Dutch.
If you listen to Bill talk in camp, especially around the campfire chats the gang members have on occasion, it becomes pretty clear that Bill is pretty fucking dumb, and at least on the road to being insane. As for Javier, I don't really think he ever was insane, even in RDR1.
@@CallsignRogue honestly I’m pretty sure Javier had something between him and Dutch before the events of Rdr1. Maybe Javier was consumed from guilt for siding with Dutch and not Arthur and John that eventually lead to making him insane
Anybody ever noticed how 19yr old Jack dresses similar to Arthur. Probably just a coincidence.
His role model
Makes me wonder if Jacks jacket is meant to retroactively be Arthur’s
A coincidence. Since they didn't plan arthur in yet at the time
@@JujuGlueshoes i can read i said it was a coincidence
@@JujuGlueshoes its not even arthurs main outfit he switches his "main outfit" the very next chapter
You're trying to make connections that dont exist and dont mean anything
Jack was too young to remember arthur anyway jack said it himself
I don't think anyone has commentrd this minor detail but the encounter with Agent Milton and Ross at the river, where Milton tells Arthur that he and his gang are all gonna die in just a matter of time?
"You people venerate savagery - and you will die savagly! All of you!"
"Oh we're all gonna die"
"Some of us more *sooner* than others!"
Ironic how he died right before an outlaw with tuburculosis.
Ikr
Yeah
“YOu HIt liKe YoU DrESS”- meanwhile Micah falls to the ground from his punch at 3:26.
“Enjoy your fishing, kid, while you still can...”
Jack killing Ross is the tragedy of the series, because he was the only real hope for redemption and a new life. Instead, he gets too hot headed to realise what his father learned and he dooms his fate. Similar to Rain Falls and Eaglie Flies.
True
I found something that nobody else ever talks about. In rdr2 I played poker it was me, John, and somebody else I can’t remember. But John said “you know that gunslinger Landon Rickets? They say he has a weak spot for poker” and I’m pretty sure John played poker with him (or at least something like that it’s been years since I’ve played the first rdr)
Yes they do in chuparosa
Omg i found this too. I love this game and the amazing universe it consists of
God I would love to play as Landon in his prime. Maybe someday.
DOLOMITE I think it’d be really cool as a spin off dlc but as a full protagonist I couldn’t see it cause he doesn’t seem like the type to be hunting and that kind of stuff
He sure does. The way he says it too shows that he idolises Landon Ricketts, which you see in RDR. Probably explains why he's such a good gunslinger. They should have had him practicing around camp.
“I wanna be a gunslinger when I grow up”
“Over my dead body”
“Aight bet”
One I like is where Sadie and John are talking about Mexico and Sadie telling John he wouldn't last a day
I want a DLC in Mexico to show how much Javier is changed because it's not possible how Javier in RDR2 is how he is in RDR1
Same with me
A Sadie DLC
Bill Williamson DLC how he made his gang.
Charles DLC
Javier DLC How he lives in Mexico before his exile or before RDR1 how he became a hitman for the Mexican Government.
Also a Micah DLC: Micah’s gangs between Arthur’s death and his gangs demise by John Marston.
Also Dutch DLC: on how he became a gang leader of the natives that cause chaos in West Elizabeth.
Needs bill to b involved
@@elperrodelautumo7511 u can also do how Dutch met Hosea and Arthur
Leroy Mcjenkins or save that for rdr 3 and you play as hosea
The mission where you take Dutch to see the new camp after the Valentine incident Dutch says something like "I don't want us living in a cave like a bunch of crazy folk" except it's with better wording and a deep voice. I thought that was an interesting one
Wasn’t it Charles ?
It just shows how much his morals changed
Maxwell Veit I also think that the death of Hosea was a major event in the way that the camp lost the only person who could control everyone.
Should have included the scene when Ross meets Jack.
Abigail: "Over my dead body.... " I guess she was right....
I Forgot but in Rdr2 Dutch Said To Bronte ( I think it was Bronte) " Its either you are me. And the way I see it, it might as well be you."
Which John later says to Javier in the events of the first game
One day folks will take orders from me
They did
Bill Williamson also I have a question why did you always angry
I am in CHARGE
I implore you to not start your own gang
Boi shut your army serving hillbilly inbred ass up.
Ps thank you for your service 😂
Sean saying “I’d never laugh again” in the first one is also foreshadowing because bill was in charge of the mission where he got shot
The one between Javier and john hit the most.
Mannn they were all brothers at one point, but things change and John's family means more to him then what love the gang had in the past.
I know Arthur’s death was sad but, John’s Death made me sad for weeks after i played. I wanted him to live and grow old see his son grow into a man, i wanted Abigail to live as well. I hope RDR3 will be about Jack, and him being older. Charles and Sadie come back expecting to see John, Abigail and Uncle but all that’s left at Beecher’s Hope is a lonely Jack and he gets to visit with them again after so long. Something for Jack to look back, make him feel like he still has living Family. Make a Story out of it, and for Chrissake’s LET THEM ALL LIVE FOR ONCE! LMFAO.
How will we have a western game set after 1914? The old west is dead, and the age of the gunslingers is long over.
ChannelNotFound the old west may have been long gone but still a lot of america was uncivilized i’d love to see a end to jacks story and i know rockstar could find a way to make it work
I don’t know if they’d even do that, I’m not saying this is for sure the end but I just don’t believe that there’s going to be another
I want a RDR3 based on before the black water heist
RN So, a prequel to a prequel?
Sorry but Arthur dies on Mt Hagen facing West watching the sunrise knowing John made it away safely.
Yup
Sorry but the sunrise happens in the east, not the west, so he dies facing the east.
Idiot that’s just one of the endings
John Marston nigga u get merked by a nigga named EdGaR😤😂😂😂
It wasnt Mr Hagen. It's a rocky hill next to three sisters, on the border of new hanover and east Grizzlies. And yeah, the sunrises on the East. His grave, though, faces west.
"Over my dead body"
Jack, you weren't supposed to take that seriously
