  • I feel after you have something for a year you get a pretty good feel for what you like and what you don't. Come along as I get into exactly that in this little powerhouse of a tractor.

    I work for a commercial tire company and I change a lot of tractor tires. I like beet juice because it is easier on the rims and environment, and it weighs almost 11 pounds per gallon, but it is touchy to pump because it wants to foam.

    This was the best review I have seen on a Kubota tractor. No nonsense and straight to the point. I'm glad you didn't fall into complaining about lift capacities or horsepower that other reviewers have. In my opinion they chose poorly for what they wanted to use their tractor for and should have went up a size. Once again, great review.

    Bought a gauge as to not add too much….went from 1130 lbs to approx 1350 lbs lifting capacity …..big difference !
    I have since sold that tractor and now buying a 3902 ….I will do the same to that relief valve also.

    Bought my L3901 Sept 2020, I definitely agree with the majority of this video pro/cons. Overall its been a great tractor. Definitely need the right side handle too, big upgrade. I also added filter protectors made from Specialty Repairs out of Canada. Great parts and easy to put on. Saved my tractor a few times with logs jumping up and unseen holes. I do find my knee hitting the light switch constantly as well, just a bad location for it.
    I dont agree that the brake pedal is a con, only because to me, that situation is what the diff lock is for. But same difference.
    I will say that, the biggest con for me, is the seat. I find the seat very uncomfortable for long duration sitting. Still on the lookout for a replacement but havent gotten it yet. I also upgraded the 3pt stablizer bars from the turn buckle style to the slide pin ones, very very much nicer.
    Weird on the RPM for the regen you talked about, my dealer told me to run it up to full throttle for regen and im pretty sure the manual says that as well. I noticed that if the RPM isnt high enough the regen light will not stop blinking. Have yet to have an issue with regen, light comes one, run the RPM up and continue as you were. I have a HF cat 1 quick hitch. No isses with that at all, it is what it is, treat it as such and youll be fine

If you are doing a little bit of everything you will.wish you had the HST. Just this week we've moved 65 ton of stone with this tractor. Last year moved about 140 ton. I had to buy an extended hook, HF riembursesed holf the cost, and still had to grind the bottom of the hook with a die grinder. I'm into it $100 not the including the Makita die grinder which is good to have anyways. If the HF quick hitch ever breaks, I will by an orange Speedco or a LP QH15 quick hitch. Great video. Looking for a kubota upgrade now...for my 100arc maple syrup operation , in the forest maneuvering between trees and narrow trails is key... and a 4500 pounds tractor might sink in mud. Was thinking about the mx5400 but your comment on hp vs weight makes me reconsider for the 3901. For a bush tractor...what would you suggest?

  • @nervousordo
    @nervousordo Před 2 lety +4

    I went from a L3301 to a MX5400 just so there was never any doubt. These L series will pick up a lot with the right amount of ballast but the front hardware of the tractor will wear much quicker. Also I stayed with R1 tires. My tractor will never see pavement and I want to make sure I have plenty of grip to get out of wet or mud situations.

    • @PheasantLaneFarm
      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 2 lety +1

      The r1 seemed like the right choice for your situation. If I ever buy another or upgrade I will got with at least a small M series. When I bought our 3901 I didn't see hay farming in our future, which may be a possibility in the next few years.

  • @Dang_Near_Fed_Up
    @Dang_Near_Fed_Up Před rokem

    I have shoulder issues and only one leg. My Kubota dealer rigged a hand clutch for me. And I use my 3901 on a 40+ acre farm with some rough and step (for a tractor) terrain. I love the tractor, my only real complaints are the 4 wheel drive selector, I am bad to bump it out of 4 wheel drive when I get bounced around, with my prosthetic leg. A simple locking lever would have solved this issue.
    And I wish I had known about the deluxe hitch bars, hooking up an implement is a chore to say the least when you have to climb on and off the tractor over and over trying to get the implement that last 2 inches so the pins will align. I have spent over an hour trying to connect a bush hog several times.
    As to minor complaints the tool box is small, as stated. You will want to put something larger and that locks more soundly on the tractor. With a standard 3 point system you will need a hammer, an adjustable, and small tire iron or massive screwdriver to turn the adjustment links. On top of the normal pins, rags, etc. you always need on every tractor.

    Kubota needs to use these tractors in order to know that you can’t push the gas and brake at the same time?
    I returned my L2501 for a L2502 because they fixed the problem by removing the clutch and shifting the brake pedals to the other side. I need to use gas and brake to take tight turns at the ends of the rows in my garden. The left arm rest/grab is standard (on the 2502) being left handed, I use it. Cruise control is an option, but if you mow a large field, your foot will get tired of being in the treadle pedal all the time (non-ergonomic), it is more of a necessity than an option for me.

      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching. Never did I feel I didn't have the power. Personally, I doubt anyone in a real word comparison would notice the difference side by side. We have some larger older gear drives and they have their place. Anything 60hp and lower I would buy the hst hands down. Especially if you are doing land clearing or loader work. If I had a field I needed to mow that would take a day or more of going at a constant speed, without a loader, then maybe I would consider a gear drive.

      After some time in the tire it can turn into a foamy sludge that has to be shoveled away if you ever take it out of the tire. Some have told me if you ever need a tire patched the Rimguard can make that process more difficult, as the rubber seems to become softer.

      I've heard from multiple ag tire guys that the beat juice/rimguard turns to a foamy sludge, and it seems to make the tire compound softer. This is really only an issue if the tire needs a repair or patch. We are in norther ohio if yhay makes a difference.

    Why do you prefer the windshield washer fluid for Tire Ballast?

    • @PheasantLaneFarm
      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 2 lety

      For one if I blow a tire I don't have to worry about it like you would with the old calcium. Second it's very cost effective and easy to install yourself. Lastly, it doesn't turn to sludge or cause the tire to soften like beet juice.

      You can't go wrong with either. Depending on how much pto work you will be doing would be the deciding factor for me.

    Have 3301..lots of mowing,but also knocking down, clearing out trees , brush. Think the 4701 would be better with extra HP, than 3301, or 3901.
    Any thoughts on HP.
    Front loader fine, but need more HP to take out big cedars, etc. and would help bush hog?

    • @PheasantLaneFarm
      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 2 lety

      Personally I don't think the 4701 is worth the price difference. You are gaining hp, but you don't have the weight to get the hp to the ground. Even with loaded tires it is intentionally built to be a lighter tractor. The pto horse power isn't a while lot different either. You may want to look at a small M series. Not as fancy as the MX, but way more tractor for the money weight and power wise.

    Does anyone's 2021 L3901 make a louder than normal humming noise with a load on it? I was running a 6 foot tiller on it and it was making an awful loud humming noise. Did it with the harrow on the back also so its not the tiller. Sounds like it was coming from the transmission area.

    • @PheasantLaneFarm
      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 3 lety +1

      That is normal unfortunately. The HST does get a little loaded when there is a load. It also depends what range you are running it in. If you drop it to low some of the whine will go alway. I usually run in M range.

    Hello Robert. Appreciate the video. Question: If you don't mind, what is it that you don't like about Rimguard? I haven't used it, but it seems like shud b a great product from what I've read.

    • @PheasantLaneFarm
      @PheasantLaneFarm  Před 3 lety

      My friends who do ag tires said it turned to a foamy sludge after time. It can also cause some tire compounds to soften causing them to be harder to repair.

      @NoMoreInfo4You you can use different things, usually depends on your climate. Where we are it gets pretty cold, so we used -20 ° windshield washer fluid. I rigged up a garden sprayer to pump it in. I did a video on the process. I hope it helps you. I'll try to link it for you.

    I have a Kubota and a John Deere the Kubota is a beast! But the Deere is very comfortable to operate! Let's go Brandon!It reminds me of a guy who buys a F250 then trades it in for a F350 then ends up with a F550 !!! Always buy a little more than you need!

    For hay you will need at the very least a 100 HP. Or look at a Ibex tx 31 small baler, the 39 will do it all.
