Trying to get caught up on my favorite channels. Nice job reviewing your tractor! I especially appreciate the bit on budget/compromise/effectiveness…. I’ve had folks comment “you shoulda bought this or that”…. I’ve always thought that is like telling the young dad who just bought his family a minivan that a corvette is better. Lol. 🤷🏼‍♂️ It all depends on your goals. You give very practical advice. 👍

The New Holland I had about 10 years ago had a metal tool box fastened to the fender slightly behind the driver seat which seemed to work out really well.
My dad took a large regular toolbox bought at a hardware store and mounted on top of the hood of his backhoe.
On his Massey Ferguson ag tractor he had a thick wall steel tool box that he bolted to the side of the uprights for the loader.
When he got on the tractor he'd go between the toolbox and the rear tire. That toolbox was big enough and strong enough to sit on.

Brad, completely agree with all your points. We actually stumbled on a low hour L3800 and I wouldn't part with it for what it does. We have a lot of timber on our property, so an M series or a cab would be quickly beat up. My only gripe is I'm always looking for more lifting power, but that isn't the machine's fault. I do notice, that with the old configuration of the cooler blocking the radiator, I have to blow out debris often when brush mowing.

Behind the seat really is the best place for a tool box in my opinion.
In thinking about your clearance issue I notice that your mower has what looks like an extension where the top link attaches.
The class 1 hitch has sort of had specific dimensions. The height from lift pins to top link seems to range 15-18”.
It might be that your mower and your posthole digger are taller than that and is the cause of your problem.
I have never had that issue on either my old Satoh Bull or on my Kubota l4060.
And I only have really old attachments.
An old 7’ Ford flail, 6’ Ford rake, etc.

    • @PineyGroveHomestead

I agree about behind the seat for the toolbox and I'll make a video when I install the toolbox I have on order. The "C" bracket for the top link to the cutter allows the rear of the cutter to kick up if it impacts something....standard for King Kutter and most cutters I have seen. You can see how close my PHD comes to the toolbox in this video:

Hey Brad, thanks for making this video. I have a 2019 L3901 and it’s the perfect tractor for our 30 acres. One question…do you ever notice your PTO stub shaft continuing to rotate occasionally even when your PTO is disengaged? Mine does this occasionally and it doesn’t seem to be under any power… as I can hook an implement to it and it stops turning. I called Kubota and they said it may just be hydraulic fluid causing it to rotate freely. Any thoughts?

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  Před měsícem

Mine does it with the auger on it almost all the time. Sometimes with a tiller. I guess everything else take a little more effort to turn. It's a mechanical engagement on the L-series so your dealer explaining it as hydraulic motion makes sense.

I live in rural ohio with quite a few friends with large farms and the are constantly battling emissions issues. I hope everything works out for you and still get jealous of all the new cool features. My brother wants a new tractor for blowing snow and think I convinced him into the 2601 and will put the fuel pump timing back to the original setting which is 33hp. Kubota detuned those motors to get under the requirement by retarding the timing. Almost $2 per gal diff. Cummins is probably going to convert to spark ignition (CNG) writings on the wall. Plus 2800 to 3000 rpm's is not low end torque, a good quality transmission either hydro or gear is the best torque multiplier, just my opinion

@@tcmits3699 not to argue but a gas motor with similar CI to the tractor diesel motor would have very little torque at those rpms..
Torque in a gas motor n/a comes from Cubic inch..diesel gets its torque from high compression.
High compression diesel vs low compression gas motor with same cubes! Which do you think will make more torque?

I like diesel engines, I have what I think is the best med duty diesel out there, but in terms of the typical small farm or homeowner. New modern I'll call it spark ignition CNG,propane, or even gasoline engine is the way to go. Even municipalities are converting their diesel trash trucks - to spark ignition and CNG for their fuel source. I just wish some tractor co. would make something different . Don't see too many car companies switching to diesel. Like I said in the beginning I do like diesel but for the price of fuel compared to gasoline I think the days of using "old school" cheaper diesel have long since past. Take care and we can always hope for all fuel prices to come down. Good luck

It's a complicated and costly system, but so far, the regens haven't been that bad.
