- Today, we visit a viewer suggested topic: Can you make a chain with only master links? In this video we use 60 some odd Sram Eagle Power Lock links to create a chain with only master links. Then we install it on a bike to see if it still shifts and operates the same. Enjoy!

I know you spot that upside down link!
one of them is a little bit different but kinda the same?!?...lol. got one upside downđ
does that matter for the function of the link, i assume it does.
You are giving me ideas end I may destroy my bike with my ideas
@@sanderbraal9169 it does matter, yes
I have wondered what would happen if you made a chain like this, so cool, thanks

How bored were you in 2020?
Seth: "I made an entire chain out of quick links."
Your chain cost more than my bike.
Lmao im just 20$ under
Lol
This is by far the most expensive chain. Even minus the labor I think.
In the '80s there was an Italian chain company called Regina that made a titanium chain. Over $100 I seem to recall.
@@rollinrat4850 YBN makes titanium chains that are a lot more than 100, and then you might be able to get a ceramicspeed coating
ive got like 200 on it but mine is a specialized mtb
"Every chain has a master link"
Bmx guys: *sweating profusely*
I bought a new rim for may bike that had a smaller (sprocket?) than the old one, and I needed to make the chain shorter, so I took 2 links off and riveted the chain with a nail, (yes a NAIL) and after 5 years is holding up fine, who needs master links anyway right?
Bmx guys are using halflink chains for almost 20 years now, a masterlink won't fit on a halflink chain

Would make for a VERY clean chain
You mean y'all don't do that? đ€

my chain is waxed. when it starts to get noisy i change it. when all 3 chains are used they get cleaned with boiling water and rewaxed.

My grandad made a wooden, working drivetrain with wooden links, chainring and everything. It wasn't on a bike, just some weird contraption and it was only a fixed singlespeed. It was insane!
That's sick.
SRAM did this in the early 00's as a demo when their Powerlinks were new.

Shhh đ€«
But not Shimano.
AHP! lalla shh
SRAMâs older masterlinks were awful though, especially 8 and 9 speed. Huge leap in 11 speed and 12 speed drivetrain components. I guess the price went up that much as well.

Seths face at 3:09 made me laugh so hard. His reaction is priceless.
Me this morning: I need to buy a master link.
Seth: I am building a chain out of master linksđ.
Oh no weâre out!
3:00 and that little scene was the funniest thing I have ever seen XD. just the pure confusion in Seth's face when the tool breaks, just perfect.
On my second hand bike I put on (what I thought was) a second master link when the chain broke, came back to look at it later and there were 3 others already on it, worked fine so didnât change it for a while
3:09 is exactly my reaction every time I have to participate in performing an action that involves steady force without speed and then the item flies away or I hit my hand.

I always wanted to try this thank you for making this video
Years ago at a bike shop I worked at, the mechanic made a chain from the âdropsâ, or ends left over when fitting a new chain. Pieces of chains from $8 to $80. Ran it on his mountain bike for a year. There was no noticeable wear difference in any section.
Would be weird if there was more wear on the cheaper parts. As long as the chain is lubed evenly a couple times a year it doesn't get much wear in general.
"TODAY WERE DOING SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT, BUT KINDA THE SAME" never gets oldđ
Was old before it was middle aged
This needs to be a merch shirt
Disagree
It already is a shirt and heâs wearing it in the video
When ot started it was okay. By the third video it was a bit much... Now I feel if the video doesn't start with that sentence my world will be shook up. Even my little daughter knows the words by now.
