not just a strap doubling as a tourniquet, its a tourniquet, doubling as a strap!
Haha absolutely!!
Mind: blown
*shtrap
But actually, please donât do this.
The TQ used looks like a Chinese made counterfeit of an older generation North American Rescue CAT tourniquet. Further, UV light, specifically sunlight breaks down plastic, it is strongly advised to store these in a protective pouch so they donât degrade before use. If you want to carry something that could save your life, buy the real thing and keep it in your hip pack or out of the sun so itâs ready when you need it.
@@ipodtouchgamer621 These kits are created for those who dont carry anything at all, My first aid kit is quite small and when I had my accident my belt had to make due, i would rather have something that may not work, or have to be replaced yearly, than nothing at all.
2022 Seth: No hard feelings, diamondback.
2023 Seth: Smashes diamondback with a rock.
And then scratches top tube with screws
Seth's like "this is now the fuck it bike"
I like this 2023 Seth! lol
What happened with Diamondback ? I used to watch a lot like two years ago and he was all about them, only starting to watch again now so I'm surprised to read and see this now

Riley knocked it outta the park with his tools đ„
Seriously. How do we get some of those!!?
@@redwoodJB dunno - the etsy link in the description is busted
Haha yeah he really knocked park tools *finger guns and open mouth*
Yea I would love that that cassette plier
@@NathanBowmanMusic Just search for 3d printed bike tools and you'll find them.
Over the weekend I met a guy with a bottle cap on his stem cap, and he said it was off a Niner bike. So that's not original, but the bar ends and fork cap sure are!
Neither are the tools in the valve caps, pettys has had them for a long time integrated into their tubeless valves, spoke wrench and presta valve core remover.
Your link for the tools doesn't work. You're missing something out of the URL. I found it by searching Etsy.
I recently picked up the Niner YAWYD(You are what you drink) top cap and it works well. I would be skeptical of using a 3D printed top cap, and I 3D print lots of stuff myself.
Yeah, Iâd much prefer my niner machined version. Bar ends see ok. Would be worried about anything needing mechanical strength with the printing material long term
As someone thatâs also subbed to Syd & Mackey and Kyle & April I immediately thought of Niner when I saw the bottle cap holder!
Those tools made by Riley are absolutely premium. In a shop setting those would be so much nicer to use than park tools.
@enriqueamaya3883 and therapists. They aren't fictional either. You should go and see one
â@enriqueamaya3883đ€Ąđ€Ą
Those 394 tools from Riley just look like quality. Incredible craftsmanship. The type of tool that you're happy every time you get a chance to use it.
One of Berm Peaks most entertaining segments! I love the user sent in stuff, its like " A box of chocolate"
Thatâs what mama said!
Giving people the opportunity to show off their homemade inventionsâŠyouâre the best Seth!
Hi Seth! Glad to see some of the Chunder Goodies @ 10:00 made it into the video! A note on the anywhere mount, I didn't intend it to be used with a water bottle as I don't trust it with that much weight. Did you happen to test it with one? The tube plate and pump mounts I make are the proper thickness to prevent the screw from going through and hitting the frame. Good suggestion on adding a backing, I will make sure to add a warning so others don't have that issue! Thanks for giving them a look, and thanks for not minding the paint ding!
"Luckily I don't care". đ
ngl, that one hurt
@@TheSorrowedMan Definitely feeling a little guilty over here..
Yeah, take a look at the inside of specialized SWAT door. I think itâs got a rectangular shape molded into it that keeps these square flat nuts in place to secure the bottle cage screws and keep them from driving in too far.
really cool idea you got there. i can use one on my bike
Pedal wrench/machete! Perfect for backcountry exploration! đ
I was about to comment in this. Seth should sharpen one side of that thing.
Thank you so much for featuring us on your awesome channel!!
Great concept and such a useful item!!
As a Middle /Highschool mountain bike coach the Mend it kit looks amazing!
This has serious combat trauma application. Where can these be purchased?

Good looking kit. Will be picking a few up for bike and trail work kits.
The 3D printed disc brake rotors still cracks me up đ

This was un-ironically one of the best subscriber product reviews we've seen so far. We're learning (finally). Nice job fellas!
Thatâs a scam reply above.
This was super cool. There is nothing better than a community that innovates for itself! Way to go, everyone that sent in products, and thanks for the compilation, Seth.
As a first responder, that's a pretty capable med kit for mountain biking. Might end up grabbing one.
Totally. I don't work regularly as a first responder, but I've had first responder training. That kit seems pretty great for its intended usage.
Edit: for those that don't think the tourniquet is appropriate, I had a friend impale his leg on a branch recently. Had he hit an artery, a tourniquet may have been a critical lifesaving necessity.
Thank you!!
It's a cheap Chinese knock-off. CAT tourniquet should have engravings on each part. Fake ones won't stop bleeding. Also, I think it shouldn't be stored on frame.
@@Vasylian1 huh...? anything wrapped tight enough will stop bleeding..
@@Vasylian1 Lol, what? You can make a tourniquet out of anything. There isn't such thing as a 'fake' tourniquet.
I think the reason that 3d printed chain guard works and your previous prints didn't comes back to the suggestions a lot of us gave you in the comments of that video. Just from what you showed, it looked like he had printed it with more perimeters, and it looks like maybe a wider nozzle as well? Since the majority of a print's strength comes from its walls, that makes a large difference in durability right there. While you certainly couldnt expect all the parts you made to work (that brake disc as an example), there were definitely a couple that likely would have worked fine with just some slicer setting refinements.
Also the difference between PLA and PETG is dramatic in terms of durability. PETG can be finicky, but if you nail the settings you can create some very durable parts, especially compared to PLA.
@@tredmer Absolutely. Not all plastics are equal. Different materials have different properties.
@@tredmer this. Sethâs printing configuration was not ideal
I'm pretty much an unapologetic roadie, and even I appreciate the Mend-It Kit. Bravo to whomever sent it in, and extra bravo to whomever made it!
Probably one of the best yet. I dig the positive reinforcement... and those tools!!!
Would've been funny had the music from '2001 A Space Odyssey' played while Seth was hitting the plastic guard thing with the rock....
...earning Seth a copyright strike in the process but it would be worth it đ
Wow, impressive items send over from talented fans, especially the First Aid Kit & the bike tools!!
Well... The cassette tool is ingenious. It will probably never slip off the cogs, I want one.
There's already a tool for this made by Pedros called cassette pliers.
seth can never have enough bottle cages đđđđ
Thank you Seth your videos never stop impressing me
"But luckily, I don't care about scratching my bike." This whole video was great, but that was the best comment. Thanks for being real.
Those tools are awesome, I'd buy those cassette pliers and pedal wrench for sure!
Really like the cassette pliers and wrench combo.
The part I "made" for myself is not really my own but I found it a new purpose. I turned a bottle cage adapter into a front mudguard mount for my suspension corrected fork in 2021, and it's running well to this day.
It's only one part of the cage adapter and four P-clips on the fork.
There is a particular type of adapter that works for this really well, better than any marketed solution I could find in a year.
I can't post pictures here but if you need something like this and have no tools to make it, google bottle cage adapter and look for one that has a symmetrical "rotating part" with three screw holes. That type fits a 26 inch sus corrected fork perfectly and your fender mounting point will be exactly in the middle.
About the tourniquet, it's the CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet)
Which is very effective, but requires some basic knowledge to use with full potential, which I urge you to learn (lots of videos about it).
Also worth noting, using it will compromise it's future strength, so you should keep this one for practice purposes and get a new one.
While it is a great idea, I have some serious concerns about the med kit. Tourniquets require training to use safely, and as you said using it for practice or even as a retention item degrades its effectiveness. I may be wrong with this, but based on the price of their kits I seriously doubt that is a genuine tourniquet, which run about $30 each (The genuine TQs are made by North American Rescue which makes the CAT, or TacMed Solutions, which makes the SOF-T). I don't want to discount the Mend-It company at all, I'm just coming from a concerned health provider background. If anyone has any questions I can provide resources and references. Training is by far the most valuable resource you can invest in when it come to first aid.
@@trail_farts hey, just wanted to comment here. My experience with tourniquets in the army and with safety training in the civilian world has taught me that you really cant do much harm with them when using properly. If the bleeding is life threatening, you tighten it enough to stop the bleed. Any damage to the body part (tissue or nerve) will only come with prolonged hold, and if the other option is life threatening bleeding, it doesnt really matter, right? And what comes to the strength of the items, in the army we would train over and over again with our personal tourniquets. Ive never seen one break when tightening it and for a real piece, I dont think its even possible with normal use and training. I would even go as far as saying that an unused one is more dangerous than a used one, as it might be defective from the factory, if the quality control over there has failed.
But youre both right on about training, learn how to use it, learn how to apply it with one hand, learn how to do it to someone else, learn how to do it in a rush, with clothes on, over a booted leg, in the dark and etc... Its like CPR, do it over and over until it comes natural.
@@akselikoskinen5445 so talking from a perspective of an ex combat medic, I've seen some tourniquets break after intensive, repetitive training, but actually I'm more concerned about its ability to hold stress for prolonged duration of time, and if it has been used before, the velcro part, which hold the entire stress, must have weakened to a certain extent, and in harsh conditions (think wet, mobile situation) when someone's life depends on this thing, you should really just use a new one.
â@@jewing464 The way he used it in the shop is not going to make any difference in its ability to hold stress. Zero.
I've been shipping them out to Ukraine for the past several months... they go through way more abuse than barely being put on and twisted once or twice. And they still work fine.
As for damage to humans, the soldiers use them at ANY indication of a wound, arterial or not, because they don't trust that they won't miss something being that they're not experts.
No issues. And they crank them down.
Appreciate you Seth! You're always teaching me something! Love watching you on berm peak express!! đđ
Bottle caps on the stem bolt has been Niner's signature for years, and I have Peaty's valve caps that do exactly the same as the ones you displayed, with the exception that they're anodized aluminum and look super cool
Exactly what I was going to say! As he was saying it was original, I was yelling itâs stolen from Niner!! Lol
Great to see your support of these up and coming bike part designers đ
For those who need to use a tourniquet, two things: high and tight (never over a joint) and if someone is begging you to take it off, don't. It means it's on tight enough, usually. Lovin' the videos as always of course
There are some very talented people watching these videos. Well done everyone!
Great job! Industrial design for bikes at its finest!

I have a 1999 specialised FSR Comp, silver and yellow that I am going bring back to life. so excited
you saying the guy keeps the GT alive made me want to mention. have a good day everyone
Great job on the tools. Very functional.
That MedKit knocked it out of the park. Iâm always the âworst case scenarioâ guy and try to carry medical on me in any given situation. That kit is, letâs say it, perfect!
For functional 3d printed parts, you need to use an appropriate material, design, and settings. Generally, PLA is to brittle for functional parts, and you need materials with better impact strength. Also, playing with shells and perimeters will gain the most strength rather than infill.
Agree, but all that said, PLA has some of the most strength if you require a strong and inflexible part. Many of the less brittle materials flex before they give at a much lower force than PLA bends or breaks. I use PLA in certain applications where any significant bending under load will cause the parts to hit each other. I find PLA works much better for things that need to stand up to tension.
@@meikgeik yeah, for bike parts i would personally use nylon or cf nylon for added stiffness, pla is brittle + it cant really stand up to the conditions outside (whether that be weather or UV light) so for bike parts ABS or ASA is the minimum for me.
I printed the same bash guard just from PLA and it was durable, even impacts didn't break it. Plus if it breaks I can just print another one. Nice job whoever designed it.
Cnc machines, lasers, and 3d printers are the best thing for people who want to start making products but donât want a whole ass factory with a bunch of workers, itâs so nice that these machines exist
this might be the best video ever on these topics. You are gonna hit a million subbes after this one man.Amazing !
That last scene is HILARIOUS!
That first aid kit is pretty on point. Using the sam splint as part of the package is clever, but having the tourniquet double as the frame strap? Absolutely awesome.
I've Been watching you for so long now so happy ur still going
The last one is good! An extra bottle cage or an extra storage clip is nice!
Gonna be honest, I've been using a 3d printed PLA bash guard for the last few months and its been working surprisingly well.
Kool stuff especially All the tools and thanks for making it amusing too
Love the tools and rock guard.
First, I would buy one of those mend it kits! Second, I love how seth actually rides his custom build instead of letting it be a garage princess. Most youtubers when they build their "dream build" they don't usually ride it. Good vid Seth!
Such a good channel. Seth is fun and really seems like really good people.
Luv that â€
Your videos continue to get better and better!
Seth! Love the vids as always.
One minor point on the Mend It, that Tourniquet isnt meant as a frame strap, sustained UV exposure and all the crap your tire kicks up will degrade the strap and cause the tourniquet to fail when you definately dont want it to fail. The kit looks designed to be broken down or stowed whole in a back pack or ass bag.
everyone that sent stuff in, well done
Whoever built the tools is pretty clever amazing what a little ingenuity will get you
Thanks for reviewing my tools Seth!

Wonder which tool he used to trim it....đ
Like a 16 year old lol
Those Valvecaps are pretty neat! We had something similar ages ago. Time to bring them back! For Context: Iâm running a VEB Heldrungen Bike Trailer for my Groceryâs, an it has Valvecaps that can remove Valve Cores. Never seen something like this. I think, theyâre only preserved because the 53 yo Communist rubber is still holding up fine đ
Very cool to see people being creative.
I liked the cassette tool the best. I think the teeth profile matches that of a chain, so I reckon even load across the engaged teeth will be guaranteed. So much more effort put in that than just print something.
The valve stem tool thingy is something I have seen before though.
That long wrench is awesome!
I like the one with letting you add bottlecaps as a decoration on your bike. I want one of those.
I missed this channel. Thank G I'm back watching again.
those 394/riley tools are superb!
Loved the bottle caps accents!
that med kit is great, it is similar to what we recommend Mtb patrollers to carry while out patrolling. I would suggest not strapping it to your bike, but to carry in a bag to protect the tourniquet. If you ever want to have an episode on first aid for backcountry, hit me up. I'm the mtb patrol director here in the finger lakes region of NY.
So cool. Nice work everyone.
"luckily I don't care about scratching my bike" spoken like a true BMXer
cool to see the community making 3d printed bike part, but for the love of god please use more suitable materials, they are out there! PLA and PETG have terrible impact toughness (probably very important for a bash guard hitting anything but a rotted log, and they also degrade in sunlight! ABS is better for impacts but has its own problems and also degrades under UV. ASA is a great material for this stuff; it's cheap, easy to print with, and it has good impact toughness and is safe in UV light.
As a note to those starting out with mechanical engineering stuff like this, lots of plastics behave very differently during slow loading and impact loading. PETG for example feels very flexible, but undergoes brittle failure if you load it quickly enough. Impact toughness is typically measured as an amount of impact energy a material can absorb for a given cross section, and from any good material supplier it should be provided on the datasheet for comparison with other materials. It's super important for lots of bike parts that are going to get bashed into things as well as the "slow" loading from shaking around on the bike as you ride
Them cassette pliers are some of the nicest I've seen some time went into them another great video Seth
the beer cap one is super cool for the stem !
That cassette plier tool is awesome. It's a similar design to the Pedro's version, which I think is a far better design than the park tool version
Yes it indeed is. I have a cheaper version of parktool pliers and they have a tendency to slip easily on the cassette. That kind of version looks a lot more easier to use and apply good enough leverage to keep the cassette in place.
Best bike channel on youtube.
Most were beyond great!!
I really like the cheap alternative to a bash guard, great video!
I bought one of these off eBay, I think, a couple years ago. Seemed pretty strong, but it broke pretty quickly on the trails. That log Seth hit was pretty rotted. I killed mine on a solid logover. A rock would break that easily, unfortunately.
@@TheBlip01 You mean a rock like the one Seth used in the outro?
@@timgarland8619 yeah, except add the weight of a rider, bike, and some momentum. Haha
A must on the first aid kit, I always carry a tourniquet, bandage, and gauze with me during a ride...
Dude, totally cool to help promote these private innovators! Kudos!
DEFINITELY going to get one of those mend it kits. I am a trail guide at Blue Mountain Bike Park and before the season closed some guy ripped his knee wide open. I am trained to deal with medical situations but at that time I did not have any first aid equipment on me. Would have been super helpful to have one. Before the 2023 season starts I'm gonna invest in one.
That first aid kit would also be great for my ADV scrambler motorcycle! Little more capable than bandaidsđđ»
I used the same or similar barb tool/hose cutter to set up two bikes now. No issues, works well!
That 3d printed bash guard worked better then the one from the bike shop I work at it that I put on my bike
That mouldable splint was recommended to me by a paramedic in the UK. Definitely need to invest in one as they seem really great. Neck, wrist and ankle brace in one
8:59 Seth really went "ooga booga" there on that bashguard đ
OMG the stubby hex wrenches for bottle cages!!
I've printed a chain guide and it still works well after years...
I bought the bash guard and it's been wonderful. Highly recommend it
Yea did you see the end when Seth bashed that baby with a good size rock , I was impressed
Riley your tools are fabulous!!!
lol Was on "New To You" and saw this, having no clue what it was about.
I... don't mountain bike, much less _even own a bike_ to ride, yet I found that an enjoyable video still! đź
I've had a CNC aluminium top cap which takes bottle caps for years - I rock a Motorhead Road Crew bottle cap on mine! Also, chromes brass Schrader valve caps with integrated core remover have been around for a very long time.
When he started talking about the durability of the bash guard some fan showdown music started playing đ€Łmaybe seth is a fan
That cassette whip replacement looks solid, anyone that's taken a stuck sram xd or xdr free hubs knows the chain ones bend
Those tools was classy AF đđ» đđ»

Those tools look so nice đ
Insofar as those bottle cage mounts, you can get inserts that take the usual screws for those but they're good for steel and aluminium bikes. Bike Packers add bottle cage mounts all over their bike including the forks and rear triangle for booties and food storage. Pannier mounts use the same threads.
I just love this guy
There were some impressive creations
