I watched this video whilst I was stranded at the beach, because my jimny was stuck flashing the green 4x4 hi symbol...!! 😯 Then I remembered my mechanic brothers advice about how to free-up a stuck starter-motor... Hand-brake off, I put ignition to 'on' but not started, & put into third gear, & got out & rocked the car back & forward.... Bingo!! It worked!! 😁😁😁
Good afternoon. I have a 2015 Jimny where the 4x4 wheel indicator flashes when in 4WD mode. When lifting the front tires in the workshop, it is verified that the hubs are locked in 4WD mode. I checked the solenoids and the entire circuit finding nothing abnormal. On another occasion we detected one of the solenoids stuck and a broken vacuum hose. When engaging 4WD Low, the vehicle runs fine but a constant beep sounds. This past weekend we tested the car on the beach with all-wheel drive and it worked fine except that the drive indication flashes only in 4WD and when going to Low the wheel indication does not flash but the 4L indication does and it listen to a whistle Thank you
Just got a 2009 built (2010 sold) mint condition jimny, only done 57,000 km's its switches all seem to need to be held in for about 3-5 seconds, before system responds, a brief press nothing happens at all(vacuum leak perhaps, or wondering if normal for some models?). Mine will also allow going straight from 2wd to 4wd-L without going to 4wd high first(stopped and in neutral), and same going back to 2wd (think it was a later change to system).
Think of it like a gear if your gearbox is in manual… no clutch needed If your in 1st your technically changing 1st gear into 2wd or 4wd high or low I kno it says change as you drive but who does that… some cars say up to 100km if your doing a 100 you shouldn’t be in 4wd lol
Happened to me also. Took risk driving it home which was around 50kms. Was running at around 30kph. When i got home. I tried to disconnect the battery. Then reconnected it. Started the car and pressed the 4wd then pressed 2wd. It went back to normal. Now just want info if there might still be something wrong with the car that needs checking by a mechanic? Thanks
There is either an issue with the vacuum activation system, or of electrical nature. These systems are known to fail rather easily and the off-roaders are replacing the vacuum hubs with manual ones. To take off the blinking, you can short the pins of vacuum valve #2, but that will not solve your problem - it will only fool the computer that the system is error free.
Mine is stuck in 4 wheel drive which happened at the MOT garage in my absense. They can't get it out. Please tell me the damage that can happen if the 4 x 4 is used on dry roads because that is what they've done, and how to get it back in 2 wheel drive. Thanks
Meg what you could try is to drive a little in reverse then forward again. The older stick selector you could free up the transmission wind up which hass occured in yours. Failing all that i you take of vacum lines and let your suzuki garage disengage the 4x4 manually ie take apart..
Hi, today mine got stuck in 4wdL. It does not want to go to 4wd or 2wd. reversed many times for some distance. Still nothing. It has been working fine and now this. saw a comment about turning ignition on, not starting, put in 3rd gear and rock it back and forth.....?
i do not own a jimny but im curious 2wd selection is that drive to front or rear wheels? im buying a 1.6 mazda 323 gtx turbo wx4 which has a 2 or 4wd selection?

in shifting to 4wd do i need to step on the clutch?

Mine was doing the same. Think it might be due to the wheels not being straight.
so if i drive around in 4x4 if its not needed it will bugger the jimny up

You need to check out the vacuum circuit and the vacuum hubs for correct operation
When i change back to two wheel drive it jusy keeps flashing

It’s automatic. You will hear a clicking sound and it goes back to 2WD. It will blink which means you’re now in 2WD

A jimny is rear wheel drive in normal conditions
Please can you confirm then if there is there no centre diff?
