    Just found my leaky oils seal needs doing after replacing a good one after doing a diff swap so will do bearings while I'm at it, great tutorial mate! Nice and detailed yet simple and to the point.

      @@jimnythings2410 thanks mate ! Did a bit more research and I think my bearing is flogged which has caused it, lots of in and out movement along with lots of noises. Shall be fun 🤣👌

    Awesome video. About to remove my rear diff centre so a lot of this is necessary to do that as well. Now I’ve seen this video I will replace both rear bearings while the diff is at the shop. Thanks heaps from Moorooka, Brisbane Southside

    Thank you for this epic guide, just finished doing this myself thanks to this video. Will just note that in my case the 32mm diameter tube didn't fit over the axle, so had to use punches but other than that appreciate all the info!

      That’s strange the tube wasn’t right for yours, but glad it worked out in the end 😊

    Nice thorough video! On my non-abs model I make the cutting part easier by cutting through the bearing outer race first, which then allows me to slide the back plate off and out of the way before cutting the retainer. I don't think the backplate clears the tone ring on ABS models though? The inner race then normally hammers off.

    I'm wondering if you have Extended Diff Breathers.
    While they primarily prevent water getting into the diff housing, they also serve the purpose of preventing the factory diff breathers from failing.
    If the diff housing can't breath, the sudden cooling of a water crossing will cause it to try and suck in from the wheel bearings.

    Brilliant, thanks a lot. Love the make shift slid-hammer! Is it possible to do the input shaft bearing in situ? Just purchased another Jimny and the rear axle growls gently all the time. Not sure if it is wheel or input shaft so may just do all three.

      @@jimnythings2410 Thanks, yes I do.Mind you, I have 2 jimnys for parts, so I may just swap half-shafts and diff from a scrapper into my existing case. Mind you, if the diff bearing comes out easily, I could replace with a new one and just swap half-shafts with bearing retained on them (they are good, I used to drive the car they're coming off)

    Great video's I've subbed 👍👍. Any advice on reinstalling the half shaft? I was hoping you was going to do a video on the reassembly. What's the best way to put the shaft back in does it take much force to push the bearing back into place? If so what's the best way of doing it?

    • @jimnythings2410
      @jimnythings2410  Před 2 lety

      Just line it all up and push it in. Get it as far in as you can by hand then smack it with a soft hammer or a hammer and a a bit of wood

    I have problem with my jimny. I hope you can give me ideas or advice on what to do. This is what happen. I parked my jimny and after a day i tried to use it. so start the engine, stepped on the brake put my AT gear to reverse and released the handbrake. It won't reverse. The other rear wheel is already spinning but the one on the rear right wheel wont turn. so I jack both rear tires and tried turning the right wheel. It feels like a locked steering wheel where it only turns half inch left and right. and when I tried to remove the tires. It so happen that one of the lug nut got busted so I used a nut removal tool and when I hammer it to the busted lug nut the wheel suddenly turn freely. So the hammering fixed my problem. But I want to know what might have caused this problem? what can I do about it? thank you so much for the videos it helps me a lot with my little jimny.

    Ah, now I see, the bearing sits on the axle and is not pressed into the diff housing, that´s great.

    Hey, thanks for showing.
    What I don´t understand is, why the bearing has a gearwheel?
    What is that for?

    • @jimnythings2410
      @jimnythings2410  Před 2 lety +1

      This is a tone ring. It’s only on the abs model. Pre abs will just be a small collet in place of the “gearwheel”

    do you have any tips for EGR valve cleaning on the jimny? do you need to remove it or is it enough to spray a cleaner into the air intake?

    • @jimnythings2410
      @jimnythings2410  Před 2 lety

      You need to remove it to clean it. I have never personally done it though

  • @monkey_with_a_skateboard6823

    Do you think it would be worth using a good quality waterproof grease when refitting to try and help keep the shit out?

    • @jimnythings2410
      @jimnythings2410  Před 2 lety +1

      Probably not mate. Grease will hold onto all the dirt and make it worse. And if you put it on the outside of the seal it will go through your brakes
