Who needs friends who never show
I'll tell you what you want to know
I could have saved a broken heart
If I'd found out long ago
I'm just thinking about
Those lonely nights
(I'm just thinking about when I waited)
When I waited for your call
'Til I found out
All my friends were right
('Til I found out, ooh, ooh)
I didn't know you at all
I heard a rumour
Ooh, ooh, I heard a rumour
They say you got a broken heart
I heard it
I heard a rumour
Ooh, ooh, I heard a rumour
Yes I did, boy ooh, ooh, ooh
Now it seems they're telling me
You've changed your wicked ways
But should I give you a second chance
Baby, I'm too afraid
So you realise what hurt you made
(So you realise the love)
And the love you threw away
How can I forgive or soon forget
(How can I forgive, ooh, ooh)
It's never gonna be the same
I heard a rumour
Ooh, ooh, I heard a rumour
They say you got a broken heart
I heard it
I heard a rumour
Ooh, ooh, I heard a rumour
Yes I did, boy ooh, ooh, ooh

This song is DRIPPING with 80s magic. That synth melody & drum 😍😍
yup
this song was the bomb back in the day. we would do our own mixes with 12" vynils and extend it to 1/2 hour just because of the groove.
we had discos then in Malaysia and everything would sound either like this or acid house. i was merely 13 or 12 ?.
everyone either dressed up like bananarama or bros. lol
ohh those safety boots. it was the in thing. i would go to tea dances on my bicycle wearing those damn boots with my skinny jeans. we call it fit jeans then.
Always loved this tune! ❤
Because it was copied from the Italian song Give Me Up by Michael Fortunati. Typical Italo-disco 4-step beat.

Shut up.
About to turn the big 40 this April, I miss my mother who passed to pancreatic cancer never thought she wouldn’t be here for my 40th , she was only 58😢 Growing up in the 80s were the best and most of all because my mother was still here listening to these songs, if you still have your mother hug her as much as you can, you only get one, music can really help you cope with the loss of a loved one🙏💜rest in heaven my beautiful momma🌹
Lost my mum to lymphoma in 1986. She was 48 😭
Sorry about your loss
Sorry for your loss
As bless your heart 💔 I'm sure she's with you with every beat of your heart. After all, her blood run through your veins and fills up every part of your being. She's alive in you don't ever feel shes truly gone, they never are 😘😘😘
My mother died last year after a series of medical errors over 8 long years. I still haven't got over it. I totally agree with you: music brings fond memories of times when life was happier and simpler. My condolecences to you!
Listening to 80’s music is something else ...
You feel like everything is fine and life is beautiful ❤️
I am 58 now and in the 80's I felt that way . . . in year 1990 something in the world is dramatically changed . . . I know that, can't explain . . .
@ Marco Jukic Agreed. When 1990 began it felt like I walked into another dimension & the Innocence was gone.
...yup
The 80s music was upbeat because the real world was a disaster. Things actually started getting better in 1989-1991 and the music all got downbeat. Weird
@@markojuric4954 the 90's were still fine..it's in 2001 that things began to go in a bad direction
I'm 17, nowhere near born in this era of music, but I've been listening to 80s music especially this song, for a while, 80s music is so different from what is made today, 80s music had so much creativity and happiness and emotion and meaning, it's beautiful.
I love to hear young people still enjoying the music from my childhood 🤗 I was 12 when this song came out & I absolutely loved Bananarama ( still do) ❤ I never tire of hearing this song 🎵
Good to hear. This music was and still is beautiful.
I'm 20 years old, loving the music of the 80s. There's quite a few of us. You're not alone.
To be fair, some songs from Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry (ie This is How We Do It or Chained to the Rhythm) have a strong retro-80s vibe to it and there some other odd songs here and there but they are usually very underrated modern music.
You’ve captivated what defines “eras” in music: frame of minds, emotional states of the public; attitudes people had, beliefs and memories of those moments in which the music played in their lives.
it's not a rumor it's true that 80's music is still kicking ass
the 80's fucking rule Yesssssssss!!!!👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
the 80's fucking rule person , im gonna out on a limb here and guess you were born in the 90's more than likely.something tells me you were. so then with that being said, you cannot say the 80's fucking rule.
True story bro 🙏

The magic of the 80's,the girls look so beautiful
Yes it was magical. I was in my 20's and 30's and of all the decades I have lived through even with all the pain of love and loss, I am still forever stuck in the 1980's.

I was saying the same just the other day. What a wonderful decade.
I'm turning 53 this year, my mother passed from breast cancer before I turned 21, this music was the best thing that ever happened to her. I think about her everyday, she never got the chance to meet her granddaughter. Tell your mother every day that you love her and never let her forget that because once she's gone you'll never get another chance to tell her. I have to live with that for the rest of my life.

80's songs are immortal!
This my favourite Bananarama song and for some reason it effects me emotionally, not necessarily the actual lyrics bt more the fact the rythom and beat the lovely voices this particular song helped me through a negative childhood, it's one of various songs that saved my life as a kid. I'd get lost listening to these songs, HUGE PART my childhood, this song brings back memories, my first pack of M&Ms lol
Hugs. You are not alone. Bananarama and others saved my life
Very good 🌷
I GOT A ROOMBA
That is why Stock Aiken and Waterman we're awesome at this, they knew compositions that made people feel good.

My mother also passed away 4 years ago from lung cancer and I truly believe that I would never live to be 52 years old now and living life with having Jesus christ and my life is worth living now ❤

True !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a great pop song for sure.
You got that right
I just love them, pure magic dancing, no violence, no sadness, pure happiness and shine. Brilliant!!
You will never have a better decade of music descend on the world than it did in the 1980s.
Not only do they sing, but they sure know how to entertain and keep you coming back for more.

I think we all need to recognise that Bananarama are one of the greatest groups of all time. Banger after banger. So lucky to have my early childhood in this era
I heard this song on the radio earlier today when I was riding home in the car with my wife. We just looked at each other and smiled..... The '80s were so freaking cool! We just love this song! ❤️

I absolutely LOVE this song 😍 The 80's were the BEST years ever in every way!! Gosh I miss those days!!
実は最近この曲に出会いました。なんだか懐かしいような切ないような気持ちになりました。80年代のポップスは胸の奥にある何かをくすぐってくれるようです。食後の運動にピッタリで自然と笑顔で踊っています。ありがとうございました。
We all heard a rumor!! This wonderful rather bouncy '80s track gives way to the dance floor. It's a song for all seasons and reasons to boogie the night away. The Bananarama trio here, set the tone as this being one of their best songs that hit the top of the music charts in 1987. It hit the airwaves to become a timeless masterpiece like "Cruel Summer" and gained popularity. It still sounds so good to this very day.
I wish there was a time machine so we could go back to the best decade ever. The 80's.
Who is with me in a time trip travelling back in time ?

This song still slaps in 2022, it’s SENSATIONAL!!!!
It's a truly amazing track.
Amazing keyboard sound in the background realy 80's
My favorite song of theirs.
Bananarama had a lot of great hits in the 80’s
One of the great things that I love about Bananarama is that they generally sing in unison, rather than in harmony with a lead singer that sings most of the songs.
Carlos McFarland. What is the difference between singing in unison as opposed to singing in harmony.
Carlos McFarland before spice girls, there's bananarama.
@@rosbergs3 Singing in unison means they are all singing exactly the same melody instead of a first, a second and a third voice that harmonize together. However, the DID sing harmonies on most of the songs of their "True Confessions" album (bar the Stock Aitken Waterman produced songs "Venus" and "More Than Physical", of course). It's easier to sing in unison.
@@ingvarjensen1088 thank you

My God ,
I miss the 80's....
I want a time machine. It all sucks now. The 80’s were incredible.
@@-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-.. very true. If this came out like this today it would feel woefully underproduced.
U need the revolution)))
@@-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-.. Yea, because music reflects the current state of events. We jammed to it back in the 80's because it was a much better time- duh.
@@-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-..-.. It was a different and more fulfilling time, music such as this song produced back then was meaningful and projected a positive, upbeat message. I hope you're not arguing that the quality of music being produced today (or for the last 25 years for that matter) is at the same level as the 60's through the early 90's in terms of rhythm, harmony, beat, and aesthetics. There is no comparison.
Remember NIGHT FLIGHT??! What an incredible collage of 80s music videos, short flicks, and underground-ish pop culture! Made many of my Saturday nights ultra pleasurable.
The 80’s had some of the best music still rocking in 11/2020
I absolutely adore this song. If one could condense the 80s into a song, this would be it.
Well said; I have felt for the last 35 years that this is easily Bananarama's best song and it is such a fun video. Peak 80s for sure ✔💯
Strictly speaking you would have to condense it into two songs. This and Give Me Up by Michael Fortunati, which was ripped off to make this song.
bingo

It is peak 80s and peak Bananarama. I tell my kids to listen to this stuff to imagine what the 80s were like.
This song gives me a nostalgic feeling even though I wasn’t even born in the 80s lol
No other decade can hold a candle to the 80s. The volume and quality of music was just unbeatable.
A unique decade. 70's were also exceptional in its own right.
@@ScottlandShaffner0423, oh yeah. 70s music did have some great music as well. Absolutely.
100% agree!!!!
As someone born in 1995, each decade had its own uniqueness. I listen to everything from Contemporary Jazz to Country. I will admit, I think the 80s had the best music across all genres of music. Jazz, Pop, R&B, Rock, Latin, every genre was just untouchable in the 80s.
What about the 1860s?
For all who don't know or are in denial the 80's was without question the greatest decade ever.
You said it bro!
I bought this at the time and remember frantically trying to learn the dance routine before heading out to the club on Saturday where it would be played. Happy days !
