Lyrics:
I hear your name whispered on the wind
It's a sound that makes me cry
I hear a song blow again and again
Through my mind and I don't know why
I wish I didn't feel so strong about you
Like happiness and love revolve around you
Trying to catch your heart
Is like trying to catch a star
So many people love you, baby
That must be what you are
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms baby, yeah - Hudba
Im 49 and I get teary eyed every time I think of the 80’s. I just wish I could close my eyes and be transported back in time 😢
I'm 43 I will be 44 next month i get teary eyed every time I think about the 80s to I wish we can go back 😢
I will be 51 in June 6th this year. In the 80s you did not have to worry about jobs or money. If I am lucky I have another 20 or 30 yrs. Even the rich do not live to 100 yrs old.😅
What a powerful song still through the years
I’m 43 and wish I can redo the 90s I miss the happy life
52 here and I feel you 💯
This song brings many tears to my eyes. I miss the 80s so very much. My whole family was alive and well, I had no worries and just loving life. I'm 51 now and most of my family have passed on and this world is far different than it once was.
That's really sad to hear but just be thankful you had all those great experiences. You were THERE. So many weren't. May God bless you and restore what you had x10!
Then remember all of those who have gone ahead of you, and as they did when they were here, guiding now as they did then. Remember...
@@normvw4053 I do, every single day.

Once you lived the 80s you stay there forever.
That decade's not coming back.
I only can wish! The greatest 10 yrs of my life! I went from a boy to a man I learned about love and broken hearts. Nothing will be like those years again

Of course
It makes me sad that my children didn't have the same magical childhood I did growing up in the 80's. Amazing music, playing outside with my friends all day, riding bikes all over the neighborhood, drinking water from the hose, Atari, break dancing on the corner, lol. The world was more innocent and much brighter than today.
I couldn't have said it better ☮️✌️☮️✌️
The same......In France 😉😉
We experienced it. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
Well said!!!!
Definitely agree !!!
My mother and father danced to this song every night in my youth. They passed away a day apart from each other. They left me alone, but I listen to this song and I feel them close to me again
That is terribly sad, but also kind of romantic. They just couldn’t live without each other.
that is sooooooooooooo sad!!!!! but I'm so glad that they are together watching over you.
I use to dance to this with my x and its a long story won’t get into that but we remained friends becuz his two children and my two children became siblings even if they were not blood related. It’s 42 years later and my x has terminal cancer and I thank God for keeping us as family. The four kids can lean on each other! This song I play everyday just for good memories!
You're not alone. They taught you to love, so that when the day did come they departed this earth, you would never be alone. As long as you love someone, you are never alone.
That I have loved but alone for a very long time now but I’d be good!
I miss the 80s. Life was much easier than today.
Absolutely
You got that right stacey

Very OLD
When this song came out,, we had NO idea, that we would never be able to go back to the 80's again. So many fantastic memories fill my mind when i hear this song. The 80's were wonderful for me. I always get tears in my eyes whenever i hear this song. I would give anything to go back. Sit on the porch with my grandparents, have lunch with mom and just talk. Run and play with my dog. It was such a care free time for me filled with love. I am 62 and missing the world of the 80's.
I feel like I didn’t truly appreciate it until it was gone for good. Best of times.
Make the most of the present, as it soon will be the past, then we’ll yearn for the present that became the past❤

My first wife used to hold my newborn second son in her arms and swing around singing this song to my son. She has since passed and my son is now 35. This song brings me back yoo seeing her joy holding him and tears to my eyes.
I was just explaining to my fiancé (as I’m dancing and crying) the way my dad used to dance with my newborn daughter to this song. And then my niece. I told him this is the song I want to dance with my dad to at our wedding. Makes me tear up, remembering dancing with him as a little girl.

I had just started college when this song was released. And had started seriously seeing my wife (girlfriend then), who was crazy about this song...I grew to love it. Sadly she left me for Heaven Christmas morning 2015. She chose wisely...too much lymphoma treatment and lupus, can't blame her. This song takes me back to just a country road drive hearing her beautiful voice as she sang every word (she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket...LOL...but it was beautiful to me!) Thankful for the time machine called youtube...
One of the best things about music is its ability to create connections between us that also last after us. I'm very sorry for your loss, but I'm also very glad that you can be brought back to the core of your love for each other, any time you want, just by listening.
Beautiful tribute. Thank you.

They were at a Whitney Houston concert and noticed a shooting star. This inspired this song. It was written for her, but she passed.

EDIT: Some people are confusing "passed" for "died". Whitney was not interested in singing this song, so she passed on it.

The music in the 70s, 80s and 90s were the greatest! Even the movies then weren't sequels or rehashes of junk you didn't like the first time around.
A lot of the music then was hopeful, about love, about peace, and about trying to find it. Nothing today compares, though there's always hope for new music to evolve into something cool again.

To me, this one reminds me of a time when I was in 9th grade. It was a time when nobody really judged me for being a person of European descent. I had classmates who were of African descent, most of the people on my school bus were of African descent, and about half of my high school band was caucasion, and the other half was of African descent. We all got along, for the most part. Nobody seemed to care. We were in school to learn, and we were in the band to kick the shit out of the other schools band. That is what we worried about.

George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, fine songwriters who wrote a bunch of hits for others, primarily Whitney Houston, finally got a chance to record themselves in 1988 for RCA. Got this on on a cassette single (stores were phasing out 45's then), and later on CD. I was doing Country on WHPO back then, but saved this for later use on KBOA. While capturing a moment in time that no longer exists, the song is timeless.

Can't believe this was hitting my ears 36 years ago, already. I can relate to those of you who commented on loved ones who are already gone, and the fact that this was the most carefree era of America gone by... Indeed it was!
Nothing in this world could give me the feeling I felt right now with the memories this song brings! The 80’s were soooo Awesome!
An incredible song! It stirs my emotions and brings tears to my eyes. I’ve been divorced since 2020. She left me after 28 years for someone else. I was so heartbroken and devastated. But God brings beauty from the ashes. I’m healed now and long for someone to hold and love. So……..,”I’m Waiting For A Star To Fall”!
Keep hanging in there mate, everything will come good you just wait and see.
Crossing fingers that star will fall for you. 🤞
Thank you
My pleasure. Dont mention it. @@rockyquate4509
Hang in there brother. God walks with, he is always with you.
I will never get tired listening to this song for the rest of my life!🥰
Such a classic 🥰
At the time man and wife. 💕

Me too! Guess we still have a little thing called hope, not completely jaded yet sista!!
Straight up, I want this song playing during my funeral.
Miss those times now in 2024. I feel so happy and blessed to have lived in those times.
75 years of age and still listening to one of my favorites
My favourite comment ever.
Rock it john
98 here. Still bang my wife's boyfriend to this song.
I agree 👍 I want to live to 100 just to listen to 80s music sit quietly and have my jd & coke bought to me by a lovely young man smile at me 😊❣🏴
john your got a soul
Why can't life be as good as this video is... It's like an explosion of pure joy. The 80s had a lot more joy in them... And I know I'm not the only person who feels that way... Miss ya, 80s. mwah!
+Josh Popichak He is right. When you hear this song it takes you back to your younger years and makes you remember the times when you had little to no stress and no worries as a child or young teenager. it allows you to live those days all over again and calms you down and puts you in a good mood. I'm sure the young kids now will think that of current songs as they get older.
+Josh Popichak you are so right. miss the wonderfull 1980s!
+Josh Popichak it's what you make it
+Josh Popichak You can make your life anything you want it, you just can't make it "80's good" If I could live a time over it would be the stretch from 1984-1989. Even people in their 50's would say that was a good time, an easier time. And music like this shows it. #timeless
+Stephen Conley SO TRUE, AND THE SAD REALITY OF IT ALL MANY KIDS TODAY CONCUR WITH THAT STATEMENT. MODERN TIMES SUCK, I WISH THAT WASNT THE CASE BUT IT IS
The past is never where you think you left it . Katherine Anne Porter
Everything was beautiful , love , pain , friends , family ..everything
This is the best pure pop song ever written
This is probably as close to a “perfect song” as you’re going to get. That sax is just incredible. Why do saxophones make songs so much better
Abdolutely the greatest love song❤
Now that's why I play an Alto Sax
That is a great sax.
It isn't an 80s pop song without a sax interlude in it somewhere!

FEEL GOOD SONG
I really miss the 80s I'm going to be 42 in March and I was born in 82 and I just loved being a little girl growing up in the 80s and 90s. The world had so much potential and we grew into such a cold-hearted world its sad. The music was great legends we're around etc. I really dislike what this world has become.... nothing like the 80s man..
This song brings back so many wonderful memories from the 80s. I wish we could go back in time just for a moment. Makes me tear up honestly.
Bring back the 80's sax 🎷
without a doubt, one of the happiest videos ever... how can you watch this video and not instantly be cheered up? It's not possible
1988
It makes happy 😀😀🇩🇪🎉
So true, but the story afterward 8s very sad. I believe they may have began working together again.
Cierto llega alguien me quita la paz me deprimo y la escuchó y me da ánimos

The 60’s the 70’s and the 80’s was the best music ever produce in history music from those 3 decades will be around forever.
Actually thee best decade of music was the 1970s. More categories than ever! True new raw talent at it's finest. Real musicians and Real Singers. No computerized drum programming, no voice machines. The 1980s was the last decade of real music for the most part.
My childhood was awesome. We were the last to grow up without cell phones and internet. We had it so good and we didn't know it.
I'm 59 now still remember this song and my Mom and stepdad driving everywhere happy times with my sister Della God thankyou I'm happy cause you were with me since the day my mom passed away and i have to be the luckiest woman to have a God like you and only God again thankyou Dad 😊😊😊😊😊
Song typifies the 80s light, catchy, and no serious worries. A beautiful song you could hear again and again.
kkkkk
❤❤❤❤❤
Saxophone - Tick !!
The interesting thing is we still had the threat of nuclear war, but it's like everyone could see the end of the cold war in sight and were ready to celebrate!
Colleen
The epitome of feel good 80’s music.
Indeed! 💯
If you like 80’s I recommend a new artist
Dayglow - Crying over the dancefloor
Even has a cool sax at the end
Miss the 80's
90s baby; aged 32 and I love this song. Rediscovered it and it is going to the top of my playlist!
Underrated in the 80's, but now so appreciated. Take me back to that decade 👍
This is the happiest and most nostalgic song ever. Never fails to brighten up my mood.
Was a crazy teen I love when this wonderful song came out. It's an inspiration.
I used to listen to this song all the time when I was going to school in my mind thinking about my boyfriend
Happy and nostalgic. That sums it up! I could dance to this song like no one’s watching!
I hear your name whispered on the wind
It's a sound that makes me cry
I hear a song blow again and again
Through my mind and I don't know why
I wish I didn't feel so strong about you
Like happiness and love revolve around you
Trying to catch your heart
Is like trying to catch a star
So many people love you, baby
That must be what you are
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
I've learn to feel what I cannot see
But with you, I lose that vision
I don't know how to dream your dream
So I'm all caught up in the superstition
I want to reach out and pull you to me
Who says I should let a wild one go free
Trying to catch your heart
Is like trying to catch a star
But I can't love you this much, baby
And love you from this far
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting (however long)
I don't like waiting (I'll wait for you)
It's so hard waiting (don't be too long)
Seems like waiting
Makes me love you even more
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting for a star-
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms, baby, yeah
anyone still listening to this in 2024, I was only 10 years old when this was released and I'm not really sure when I did start listening to 80's music but it was not during the 1980's😂
The 80's were the best. So glad I got to experience that decade.
It was an awesome time to grow up and not to mention the music. Wish i can do it all over again! 😞
me too :(
Put me on that boat as well because I second that motion.
for real...i was born in 93...and wish i was born 10 years earlier!
+Tourz Well...it would've been better had all of us born in the early 70s or late 60s so we can be in our teens to enjoy the decade!
So true!!...
