Amazing thank you very much everything you covered were the things that slowed me down
Well that’s amazing to hear!! I’m hoping to do more on recording/comping/batch management; when I reappear! 😉 thanks for your comment ✌🏻🤓
wow, i look at the size of that piece you're working on and cant even imagine the effort you put into that one. thanks for the video, great info my friend!
That’s an old set of competition stems that I use for showing features and stuff! Don’t want to take credit for that! Glad you enjoyed the video raj! 🤘🏻🤓
This was so helpful!! Thank you
Glad to hear it ✌️
Nice content, well done!
Thank you very much indeed 🤓
Great video, thank you so much. Really nice info !!!!’ Here are a few fun comments
2:17 I’ll never understand why PT decided to put this super important, and constantly used short cut next to the garbage can (delete). I’ve accidentally hit delete over the years without realizing it (and many of my fellow engineers have agreed with this) only to find out 10 moves later...screwed. I also wish, although I get why this isn’t possible, that we could go to our edit history and select a specific task to undo (instead of having to undo all 10 moves in my example)...but as with all things AVID, I just shrug my shoulders and say “whatever”. They’ve never been great at listening...ever. : ( (But I do love PT).
What I do is open the mix window, drag it all the way to the bottom right, then pull it up just a touch; then open the edit window and do the same but this time pull it a bit to the left (leaving a small empty square at the bottom right of my screen). Now I can click anywhere on the right, or anywhere on the bottom of my screen to change screens.
I also use a laptop with the mouse pad, as well as a 2nd mouse...super useful for grabbing something for example and dragging it far across the screen. I trained myself to be 99% shortcuts.... but over the years have developed (like we all do) a personal style that’s really quick and happy.
4:14 You can also just use the “esc” (top left) to scroll through your tools...much faster !! : )
14:05 On Mac this works in both Edit and Mix windows. I have found using groups super helpful. For example: a-Lead Vocals B-Bass C-Cajon (percussion in general) D- drums E-Piano/ Keeeeeeys F- backing vocs (“fonitica” in Greek) G-guitars H- horns, etc. Then for my drums (16 mics on my kit) D- for all C-close mics (if I don’t need C for perc) T-toms O-over heads, R room ( but I like Room, back room, OH on this).
And finally, I discovered that Opt/Comm/arrow up or down will expand your tracks vertically !!! Thanks again for an great video ! Cheers.
Wow !! Bro which version of pro tools do yu use
I’m still with 2019 for the moment. My student level subscription has finally run out so I have been quietly keeping an eye on MacOS, plugin and Pro Tools versions/compatibility to pick the right setup for my needs. I’m hoping it will be PT 2020 on my Mac mini with MacOS Catalina and the plugins I really need and can afford to update! Will definitely be reviewing PT 2020 before the end of the summer so keep an eye out! Thanks for the interest 🤘🏻
Question: 21:10 Markers, memory, tempo, etc... Any way to access these with a shortcut?
Hi Steve, I’m not sure specifically on each. Certainly the “. - number - .” (Numeric keypad) shortcut works for switching memory locations but as for tempo automation I’m not sure! Hope this helps!
Nope, but that's fine. I think somethings are just not possible. Great job on your video, really enjoyed it.
Thanks Steve I really do appreciate that! I’ll be back into it this winter keep the eyes peeled 😉
🤘🏻🤓
wouldn't it be faster to just use two monitors?
I do, and where possible, of course! Presuming you’re addressing the “cmd + =“ shortcut, I also use it to quickly call attention to a window (e.g. switching on/off mix groups and jumping back to the edit window).
